Bazza
Re: The Last Word * Cancer politely waits for someone who's actually experienced one to explain what a podcast is * a podcast is a portmandau of iPod and broadcast. Wiki entry on Podcast & history of podcasting (Podfather Adam Curry). Of a similar thing to podcasts, many Universities host course content on iTunes University that can be downloaded. DocMan
Re: The Last Word I hadn't realized that the term "podcast" predated Apple's use of it. Still leaves the question of who coined it first. If the answer is in the wiki articles, they're not clear. Doc
ghost-angel
Re: The Last Word I believe Adam Curry actually coined the term himself. He did so specifically because he was creating a non-real time broadcast intended to be downloaded and listened to on an MP3 Player - the Apple iPod being the most prominent of such devices by a massively large margin. On the up side, I introduced the students to the del operator (link) for the first time the other day. Like Teh Bunneh, I can claim a portion of their innocence forever. Cancer
Re: The Last Word There most certainly is. In fact, it's one of the few forms of innocence actively promoted by mainstream pop culture these days. I think I read this story of lost mathematical innocence more than 30 years ago.
