Hermit
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040822/ts_nm/crime_art_scream_dc Is your player's character local to, or vacationing in Oslo? Then maybe you could make a story out of this. It turns out "The Scream" by Munch was taken in an armed robbery as well as another painting. Here's hoping the real world authorities get it back, but in the mean time, it's grist for your creativity mill as a GM. EDIT: If anyone has other real life news articles that would make good scenerio ideas, feel free to post them here.

winterhawk
Re: RL news suitable for Champ's scenerios As usual, you beat me to the post Hermit. cutsleeve
Re: RL news suitable for Champ's scenerios what if it was stolen by people who didnt want to sell it or ransom for it. What if it where stolen by a political action group. Like one of those who would steal something and destroy it to show their disgust with a "political system that values art over the poor hungry masses who yearn for freedon and democracy." these types of things have happened before so its always a viable thought. zornwil
Re: RL news suitable for Champ's scenerios I was reading in the paper that monkeys have been violently raiding an African city...sounds like a call to Dr. Simian, who enlists the PC's help, and so on... Online reference, http://www.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,10505996%255E1702,00.html - while the real-world cause is almost certainly ecological issues, perhaps there's something more overtly/directly villainous afoot in one's campaign world... (PS/EDIT - plus this can be divorced from Sudan's current sadness)
