Ndreare
How many of you have written up Power Armor and Mecha in ful for hero and what kind of results have you had? Do you use the Vehicle Rules or the Power Rules? How did you balance the power levels of one size over another? After all if a 7' Power Armor can have the same gun as the 70' Robot why ever buy the 70' Robot? I created some but have not had a chance to play test them. The ones I created all use the vehicle rules, and are basicly the same modified by size. I limited Active points for my campaign to 60+5 per size level. This allowed for players to have an understanding of what power level a Robot or Mech will be. I also went with the general idead that most of these things never get close to each other so even though the have "Vibro Blades" they rely on Ranged bonuses and Radar usualy. Attached are a few "Templates" I made for the players to have an idead of what power level the Mecha are in. With the idea that is a player wants to be a medium Mecha Pilot he will just take the base template and modify it within reason. I also created "Lui" as an example of a players special forces mech. So what would you change? are they to week, to power full or what? I am aiming for the combat is deadly feel.
ghost-angel
Re: Mech Hero I have an idea, still on file somewhere, for a very BattleTech feeling MechHero, that should be adjusted enough so it's not a translation... There was some hashing out a while back on the Other Genre board, I'd go looking through that history, someone (I wish I could remember who) posted some very solid and consistent designs for Mechs. Lord Liaden
Re: Mech Hero This is actually a pretty popular subject here on the boards. The two threads below are kind of "central clearing houses" to links on the subject. I'd suggest checking them out: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21382 http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21572 There's also a very good chapter on mech-building in The Ultimate Vehicle, with several samples of different classes of mechs. Lord Liaden
Re: Mech Hero Fellow board member Chris "archer" Goodwin has done a bang-up job of blending the old pre-4E Robot Warriors mecha game (still available in .pdf format in the Hero Games Online Store) with the current vehicle rules. His efforts can be seen below: http://home.comcast.net/~archer7/rw2hero.html Chris has also posted a couple of samples using his hybrid system to this thread: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19411

Lord Liaden
Re: Mech Hero As an example of the Powers approach, check out this writeup for Mobile Infantry Armor from the novel Starship Troopers. Also, the Hero Games books for the Champions line are full of examples of powered armor bought as Powers.
