teh bunneh
I want to create a robotic henchman who has a sort of "synaptic disruptor" Ego Attack. The robot is just a robot -- no AI, and thus, no EGO. I looked through the automaton rules and they don't appear to address this (is it addressed elsewhere?). So how would a robot without an ECV attack the mind? Any advice? Tnx! Bill.

JMcL63
Re: Robot mentallist Well, without an actual mind of its own, a robot could only attack the mind from without and not within, so using mental attack powers and/or the Based on ECV modifier might not be the right way to go (ie. you're actually attacking the body- the nervous system- and not the mind itself). Of the top of my head, what you're after sounds like it could be an NND with the mind attack as SFX. If you really do want a mental attack (and why not?), then you could buy EGO as a power for this special purpose, or you could give the bot a base EGO OCV of 0 and buy levels to make the attack viable. Hope this helps.
Blue
Re: Robot mentallist I would think that if you wanted a creature to have mental attacks but have no mind at all then you're going to have to start at ECV 0. It's the downside of making your creature invulnerable to mental attacks.

I looked at the attack - synaptic disruptor. How 'bout a compound attack: 1) Xd6 AVLD, with the Defense being Mental Defense plus 3) Xd6 INT Drain
Blue
Re: Robot mentallist Also, there's the "EGO power based on CON" modifier. It might be harder to disrupt someone who is physically tougher. Just a thought.
