Re: Ultimate Skill (STR Min 13)

When you get down to it, there are only so many ways you can lift, throw or hit something. USK essentially discusses everything else you can do.

LOL. That's a pretty good way to put it. ;) Additionally, there are really only so many special effects for "high STR" -- it, itself, is usually the special effect for things. Ultimate Energy Projector in some respects suffers from a similar problem (blasting things is, well, blasting things), but is saved as a book-length concept by the fact that you can explore multiple special effects.

Equation (from experience):

(Backpack including TUS, 5ER, FH, MMM, HB, TA, FHG1, FHG2, campaign notes, characters, dice, pens, pad of paper) + (the nice hilly terrain of Sheffield UK) = ( Spinal Compression injury :thumbdown) OR (improved fitness ).

Try carrying that lot down an icy slope in winter (minus TUS of course, as it was not in existence then), with a busy road at the bottom - at least both arms are free to help with the balancing required if it comes to having to 'ski without skis' :ugly:.

Forgot to mention that the equation above worked out positively (i.e. improved fitness) - can't really complain about that...

Oh hell! That's why I memorize the books when I read them! I don't have to carry everything around with me. At most (even at cons) I take 5ER, and that's only to allow other players to reference it so I don't have to spout rules while I'm running the game.

Do you seriously memorize the books, such as those listed, in general? Just wondering, can't tell if that was a flippant remark or that you really do memorize the contents fairly well. If the latter, is that because you are only taking smaller bits of it for use, or do you have the ability to actually memorize most of the content for its own sake (so to speak)?

I do memorize the content (not word for word usually, but the meaning of the content), and do so farily well. About the only time I open a book I've read now is to show something to a fellow player. There are parts that just don't make sense to me, or I've forgotten because of a house rule I use instead.

I will state that I do not have CKC memorized. I can't even keep track of my own villain's character sheets let alone the published ones.
