I once ran an adventure where a joke by CLOWN on NASA went horribly wrong, summoning the Gweenies into our world who wrecked their own havoc... but it was foreordained only one man could stop them, and the heroes had to find that man. They would most often grant the heroes a unique device, only to have it fail at the worst time. Like giving a non flight hero a flying car, only to have it run out of power mid air .
