Ferret
I was wondering does anyone have problems with the way talents are done in the fifth edition? Do people prefer the fourth edition talent rules. Are there differances to the line of sight and hearing rules between the big blue book and the new rules? I would like your opinions. My friend hates the new rules. In these area's particularily the talents. Because Steve in my opinion simply explained how he determined cost of talents using powers yet. He see's this as powers disguised as talents. I think it is a ridulous argument. Designed only in a quest to find problems in the new rules thoughts... Ferret.......... ghost-angel
Re: 4th to fifth edition Talents were always pseudo-Powers to begin with. 5th Edition made it easier to create new Talents without delving into deep and long discussions about Rules Balance. The LOS rules due more to eliminate what I call "Coffee Shop Mentalist Syndrome" where the Mentalist sits in a coffee shop sipping a latte and blasting away with his brain while the rest of the team gets knocked around. Beyond that they aren't very different.

I think your friend is looking for something to complain about. 5th Edition took the approach of rebuilding all of the talents using the existing powers/limitations a means of adjusting the point costs relative to the rest of the game. The only real difference is that a few of them had their point costs altered a bit.

And it did "lift the veil" in all fairness he might just not like looking at the engine just wants to know the car goes, if you get my meaning

The ability to "peek under the hood" is one of the main things that attracts a lot of people to Hero, IME.

Thia Halmades
Re: 4th to fifth edition Shoot, one of the things that got me here was this raging frustration of not being able to determine why on Earth I couldn't find a formula to build and then determine the cost in GP of a weapon in a way that made sense. So I started asking "Um... where are the construction rules for all of this?!" Answer: "There are none, Thia." And here I am.
