Adding a few more books to my resource pool: Questions

Hello everyone,

I just ordered from FRPgames (online distributor) of gaming materials,

three more books to add to my large Hero's library. I purchease the

following books:

- Hero System: Post-Apocalyptic Hero

- Hero System: Ninja Hero

- Hero System: The Ultimate Energy Projector

Now I have seen referencse to another book and was wondering if

someone might comment on that book for me.

- Hero System: Character Creation Handbook

I have read the description for what it should be and it would make

my work alot easier, instead of looking through all the other books

instead. I wanted to hear from someone that has read it and knows

it and make a review of it for me.

My purpose here is I am converting my long running campaigns

from their other systems to Hero's System. I have collected Hero's

since v2 and have most of v5 already. My 12 yr old son loves Hero's

system over D20 system, and now that D&D is going from 3.5 to 4

and NOT allowing conversion I am throwing in the towel on them

after my 32+ yr time playing/DMing it.

My campaigns are:

D&D D20 v3.5 --- to --- Fantasy Hero

Gamma World --- to --- Post-Apocalyptic Hero

Traveller --- to --- Traveller/Star Hero

My son likes both Champions/Dark Champions and Fantasy Hero

and he is working on building his own campaigns with my help. BTW

we do things by hand (Pencil and Paper), and yes I am NOW aware

of Designer Hero. I am looking into that seriously, but being a old

school gamer...there is nothing like have a good old hard copy book

in ones hands to read when ones away from their PC. That is one of

the reasons I want to look into getting the book of Character Creation

Handbook if it is a good useful product.

Also as I am new to this Discussion Board, what is the meaning

of "Rep Power"? What does that mean for any given signon?

Thanks,

Penn

"Rep" is simply a way for one poster to tell another, "Atta boy." If you make a funny or insightful post, sometimes someone will Rep you for it. You can see who has repped you (and for which posts) by going to your User CP (at the top of the page).

You can also Rep other people. If you read a post that makes you think, makes you laugh, or makes a lightbulb go on over your head, you can click the little scales at the top right-hand corner of the post. Enter a comment and click OK and you've just given them Rep!

Ultimately, Rep is meaningless, but it's a nice way to say "Very funny!" or "I agree!" without cluttering up the boards.

EDIT: Your Rep Power is currently 0, and will remain so until you make 50 or more posts in any of the Gaming Discussion Boards (the Non-Gaming Discussion Board doesn't count). You can still Rep people, they just won't get any "points" for it. :)

Oh, because it clearly wasn't mentioned yet, I don't like to knock distributors, but you can order any book that our Friendly Neighborhood Developers have in stock, and they'll ship it to you at no cost. It also means that more money flows directly into the coffers of our favorite game developer. Something to keep in mind for future purchases.

The Character Creation Handbook hasn't reached stores yet - I think it left the printers this week for Hero's warehouses, which means they'll get it next week sometime; and then my order will ship. So if you can wait 2-2.5 weeks I'll have a review of it - including exactly what it contains and doesn't contain - up.
