Lonewalker
Re: Don't touch the cat Our girls are pretty good - rarely do they hop onto the game map or behind the GM screen. If dice are rolled on tables, they won't interfere. One of them, Chiral, does have a tendency to relax on my wife's character sheets and chase after her dice (although she does prefer to toss her dice across the floor). I have, however, feared for my character's life when playing at the Bunny's house as "Catzilla" (aka Saturn) frequently hops onto the game map and knocks minis around. (She's also fond of eating the landscape, like trees.) I remember one time a group of us had gotten together at another friend's place to play a game of Civilization. We'd been playing for something like three hours and had pieces all across the board. Well, naturally that's when one of the cats, Rachel, decided to run across the length of the board! I remember all of us sort of gasping, leaning back, and holding our breath, unsure of what to do. Rachel scurried on by....and only a single playing piece had been disturbed. Most amazing thing I've ever seen. Of course, Rachel jut sat nearby looking smug.

Pariah
Re: Don't touch the cat Catzilla often makes guest appearances in my games. Lord Mhoram's cat, Gump, used to make his way into our games frequently. It was not uncommon for him to wonder over, decide a particular place on the battle map looked appealing, and lie down. We called him The Great Cat Of The Apocalypse. RIP, Gump.
Narratio
Re: Don't touch the cat Well, the general concensus appears to be that cats, while a threat to your Champions game, can be contained or the problems alleviated. Anybody had hassles with tortoise, terrapins, hamsters, boll weevils, water buffalo etc?
Doc Shocker
Re: Don't touch the cat Many years ago I gamed at a friend's house where the parrot, an African Grey named Reboot, was allowed free reign. While we rarely had to worry there was the occasional aerial assault. Reboot had a fondness for colored polyhedrals and would steal them. Fortunately he would willingly trade them for a treat. Narratio
Re: Don't touch the cat You could place the cat/hamster/animal-of-choice into the game deliberately you know. It's the old 'solve the problem or the nuke goes off' scenario, except in this case you threaten to unleash the animal amongst the mini's. There's a few Tarantula's living in a bannana grove near my home... I wonder? A small cage, put 6" high boards around the table edge... hmmm, it's crazy enough that it just might work. Doc Shocker
Re: Don't touch the cat Heh, in this house the one thing more powerful than the GM is the arachnophobia of the GM's wife.
Narratio
Re: Don't touch the cat So a spider loose on the game table would count as a World, if not Universe, destroying event? As in "You are NEVER letting those people into MY house AGAIN!" sort of laying down of the law? How does she feel about 6-8" long centipedes? They'll also eat mini's, hide inside cardboard or plastic buildings and are really, really quick. Keep you players on thier toes for sure. Doc Shocker
Re: Don't touch the cat Heh, releasing a spider on the gaming table would be a Ragnarök level event. As in the Death of the Gods (a.k.a. the GM). I think centipedes would also trigger Ragnarök.
Narratio
Re: Don't touch the cat Wives, they're so fussy! Okay, important safety tip there. No exotic insects to be kept as pets unless beer guzzling gamers let them loose.
