You're stupid. (laughs and rolls off seat' date=' thinking it's hilarious.)[/quote']And you know that you've really stepped off into the twilight zone when he replies, "Nuh-uh! You're stupid! You don't even realise that we peeked up your dress when we brought you here. :o"

Re: Bearing Witness

Umm--okay. As stated in the first post, that would get Demandra returned to when and where she left, with no memory of The Castle or Tyler and Tom.

Thank You for your input, though.

I see her point actually in my universe if they weren't smited like Celestials and all their ilk, they would be the villains to be overcome if my players didn't

kill me first ( One joking rule in all my games is that obnoxious omnipotent beings like the Celestials automatically are destroyed upon entering the universe

But on the questions at hand I just GM but Thunderchild first of the Superheroes ( sort of Doc savage who Became Golden age Superman.).

--What has it been like for you to have superpowers?

Both a joy and a curse I suppose, young fellow. More a joy. It has allowed me to live beyond my time and enhanced my ability to do good past my wildest dreams. It does divorce me from the normal people somewhat and it is difficult to live in a world where it seems most people's bodies are made of tissue paper and their bones of Styrofoam.

--Why did you choose to use your powers the way you have?

I merely continued what I always did helping the weak and those in need of protection against those who would harm them. I can't imagine using my powers any other way, son.

--What do you think you would be doing if you didn't have superpowers?

I'd have died fighting to good fight or more unlikely of old age. My daughter would probably have suffered the same fate.

-Do you ever wish you didn't have superpowers?

Sometimes in moments of weakness when I realize the number of people who could survive even a good hug by me are so few but otherwise no. This gift and burden have been given to me and I'm honored to receive them.

--What would you decide if you were in my place? Is humanity ready for superpowers, or not?

Humanity would have been destroyed twice in my lifetime if not for superpowers so unless you can make it impossible for anyone who comes looking from this or the universe next door to have them the point is moot. Besides, I feel in general they are ready. humanity is still stumbling forward in many ways but the good far outweighs the bad. In your place I would realize I don't have the wisdom for such a decision even with all my years of life.

-Is there anything else you wish to say?

If you're as young as you look this is far too big a decision for you. If you're not what are your reasons for taking such a young form. You may find enlightenment in honest answers there. I would also say you take a clue from the Olympians who realized they really weren't gods and so superior to humanity after all. I think this is a decision for a higher power than any who would snatch humans for advice. Think very carefully about everything you do son, because with your responsibility is proportional to your power. I think humanity is ready for these powers, the real question is are you ready to make such an enormous decision?

To which she replies: "And you're even stupider for trying to look up closed-off pants and thinking it's a dress!" :)

A verbal fight between kids... shudder...

Uh-huh!

Nuh-uh!

Uh-huh!

Nuh-uh!

Re: Bearing Witness

Should you choose to testify, you are escorted into a large room ringed with columns that support a dome. There, sitting on a small throne, is a blond-haired boy you figure to be about eight years old. Standing beside him is a boy with curly-brown hair you also figure to be about eight. The second boy introduces himself as "Tom" and the blond boy as "Tyler." When you are ready to answer, Tyler asks you the following questions--

--What has it been like for you to have superpowers?

Tech replies: I have supergadgets, not superpowers. However, it's certainly been easier enforcing the law.

--Why did you choose to use your powers the way you have?
I'm a police officer, it's what I do... even if I do have advanced technology.

--What do you think you would be doing if you didn't have superpowers?
I'd be doing what I do right now: helping others.

--Do you ever wish you didn't have superpowers?
I'm glad I have this technology. Supercriminals are getting a bit too arrogant thinking they can do whatever they want just because they have superpowers.

--What would you decide if you were in my place? Is humanity ready for superpowers, or not?
If I was in your place, I'd let my answers decide. I think it's possible humanity is ready but carefully.

--Is there anything else you wish to say?
Superpowers are neither right or wrong, it's how they're used that determines their usefulness or not. If supercriminals are going to use theirs for evil, then good needs them as well.

Re: Bearing Witness

We put Mole in the hotseat

Your character is out on patrol or taking care of whatever business you take care of when your teammates aren't around when you are approached by a person asking for your help. Before you realize it you are transported from your world to a place called The Castle Beyond Space And Time.

"Oh #$#$, another castle!" but he'll relax when he finds out this isn't the Shadow Queen's doing.

There, you are informed by the being that brought you here (an entity called "Paradox") that you have been chosen to testify in the matter of whether or not superpowers will continue to show up on Earth. If the answer is "Yes" then people will keep getting superpowers, either by accident, birth or design. If the answer is "No" then those who already have superpowers get to keep them, but no one else will get powers--at least for a couple of centuries or more, at which point the cycle repeats itself. You are also informed that once you testify, you will be returned to the exact place and time from which you left, with little or no memory of your being at The Castle or your testimony. (This also happens if you choose not to testify, or if you attempt some sort of offensive action.)

"I'd really prefer to remember... if it's cool. I kind of keep a list of the weirder stuff just for when I'm shooting the bull with the rest of the Shadow Guard. No? Ok. Fine.*sigh* I'm not sure I'm qualified, but shoot."

"Hold up, first question, are you related ...since I'm going to forget anyway, either as a descendant or ancestor of my friends or I? No? Ok. Go ahead."

--What has it been like for you to have superpowers?

"Absolutely amazing, the best," Mole replies, feeling a bit weird being interogatted by kids less than half his age, but what the heck. "I'm stronger, faster, all that jazz with a lot of extra perks like super digging and a matter awareness. I use those to fight crime, beat the bad guys, and save the ever luvin day for people. I get bored easily, but being a superhero is rarely boring so its a blast."

--Why did you choose to use your powers the way you have?

He sighs, "Ok. Just to be clear, and don't go telling others... my father was killed by a punk who abused his powers. It motivated me at first when I got mine to stop that sort of thing. To help clean up my city. I have the power, I can make a difference, so I do. I have the talent, I see the need, and I know what's right so there are no excuses not to."

--What do you think you would be doing if you didn't have superpowers?

"My powers let me run into some pretty good folk who have helped so I probably wouldn't be as mature, or as together. Then again, I might. You never know. Either way, I'd probably be into music. More time for it and.. huh, funny. I guess for some reason my reasons for wanting to be a musician are a lot like being a superhero. Talent, see the need or message, and don't have an excuse not to try...never thought about it. "

--Do you ever wish you didn't have superpowers?

Mole looks at them and states flat out, "Not for one single second. I wish I could have saved my dad. I wish I understood women better. I wish Hudson City didn't need me as much, but not for one single whiney spineless minute did I ever wish to be less able to help my fellow man."

--What would you decide if you were in my place? Is humanity ready for superpowers, or not?

"Maybe I misheard, but seems to me Humanity already HAS superpowers, or at least some of them. Sounds like you are thinking of taking them away, in the long run. If I were you, I'd let folks keep having them... " Mole isn't sure he buys into the whole kids being able to influence this, but answers honestly anyway "because evil, be it evil people or evil things people do is not going to go away just because capes and masks might be gone. What's a 'superpower' anyway? Take away powers like mine, and you'll still have the strong and the weak, the rich and the poor. Taking away options probably seems like a simple solution. Newsflash: humanity complicates things . Always have, always will. Little bit of angel and devil both in our make up, and even if everyone started out the same and never could go higher...say each person gets a loin cloth and a stick and that's all they ever get...you'd still have some folks making fires to keep others warm, and others clubbing their brother over the head."

--Is there anything else you wish to say?

Mole smirks, "Be excellent to each other..." He makes the rock and roll sign, "And party on little dudes!" (Ha, always wanted to say that)Oo.

When you are finished answering, you are thanked for your testimony and returned as promised.

"Hey, good luck with your choice. I'm not sure I like the whole 'few deciding for billions' thing, but on the flip side can't be much fun to have that sort of pressure on you. After this, take it easy, kick back and enjoy life some. A wise guy told me once that its the small things that remind you the big things are worth fighting for. Peace out."

And he returns to his world.

Well--

Demandra: "Who the H#*$ are you? WHAT the H#*$ are you? Where the P$&@ is this? What do you f*$&s think your doing? Most of all,WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU'VE GOT THE RIGHT TO RUN HUMANITY AS YOUR OWN LITTLE LAB RATS IN SOME $&@$&ING EXPERIMENT?!!?"

To my mind, weapons-grade profanity delivered at a volume sufficient to pulverize concrete constitutes an offensive action. As always, YMMV.

Once again, Thank You for your input. And I'll make a note to stay away from Demandra. (Nice name, by the way.)
