Help with power for Helpfire

The character is a demonic entity bound to a mortal, the mortal is able to transform into a demon like creature

Fairly simple so far, all powers bought OIHID, flight, claws, extra limb, increased stats, etc...

Now I am thinking about a Hellfire MP, one power that I want to include is a burning of the soul, not sure how to build it as I am not sure what it means even...

I do know a few things, The power can in essence kill a person, I do not know yet if I want them to be burned or just an empty husk (Maybe w/ life functions still but catatonic). The only defence I can think of is that the person is without sin (What that means I am not sure either). I do want it to be slow and no range (I see him grabbing the guy and it slowly burning him out)

IN some ways this is the guys "Pennance Stare", but I see it being somewhat different in effect.

So thoughts

Re: Help with power for Helpfire

This sounds like it may be either an Ego Attack that does body and is limited in that it cannot harm Innocents or an NND (Does Body) Killing Attack: Character must be an Innocent depending on how the effect works. Picturing the Penance Stare I would likely go with the Ego attack since the target cannot really dodge it. However, described as a Ball of Hellfire burning the sin from someone the Killing attack may fit better. Here are my two takes on it:

Penance Stare: Ego Attack 4 1/2d6, Does BODY (+1) (90 Active Points); Limited Power Power loses about a third of its effectiveness (Cannot Effect Innocents; -1/2)

Purging Hellfire: Killing Attack - Ranged 2d6, No Normal Defense ([standard]; Innocent; +1), Does BODY (+1) (90 Active Points)

Here is something to add to the not sure what it means either pile' date=' another Defense would be not having a soul.[/quote']

Yup I had thought of that, power is useless against creatures without a soul (Most animals, automations, etc...) actualy considering that my fear of the defence for the NND not being common enough is kind of ungrounded

Re: Help with power for Hellfire

One of the PCS in my Champions game is coincidentally named Hellfire- she has a fire demon trapped inside her.

She was originally a mutant who was invulnerable to flame. She discovered this at a young age and became a doctor specialising in metahuman genetics so she could find out what made her powers tick. Then she was abducted by a cult who knocked her out and tried to summon a fire demon that manifested itself by using the host as combustible material during its stay on this plane.

Only she couldn't burn... The demon was trapped inside her, but she was perpetually on fire, until the PC team developed a suit that let her switch her fire powers off.

Overall, a very cool character. Feel free to borrow ideas from this backstory.

Re: Help with power for Helpfire

The original Ghost Rider's flame just burned people, cut through armor, summoned his motorcycle, so NND seems okay for one slot, and nnd does body for another.

Danny Ketch's Penance Stare made people relive their crimes and experience all the pain they caused. That seems more like an ego attack that does body to me.

The only examples I can think of to demonstrate my points is the Ghost Rider Movie. His flame cut through bars, heated metal, boiled water elemental demon away.

When the big bad was going to kill GR after absorbing all the souls of the deserted town the showdown was in, GR burned him out making the souls inside of him relive everything they had done which was a lot.
