Barton Posted January 2, 2009 Report Share Posted January 2, 2009 Just saw the movie "The Spirit" today. 1) I will not spill any of the plot. 2) I have NOT read any of the comic book series. 3) Loved the movie. 4) It is more "noir" in feel. But "pulpy" in backgrounds, automobiles, fashions. 5) Great graphics and visuals. 6) IMHO a good version of a masked crime fighters. 7) Suggest Pulp GM's or pulp players see the movie for ideas. The film, while having a lot of humour lacked a certain whimsy that you got with Eisners facial experssions. Otherwise it was a keeper. Now, has anybody seen a Japanese movie "K-20: Legend of the Mask"? I saw it on the flight from Bangkok to Istanbul yesterday. This is a keeper. Set in 1949 in a Japan where WW2 didn't happen. Poot revolves around a super crook (K-20 looking awfully V for Vendetta) trying to steal a Tesla device. Autogyros! English subtitles. Very much pulp. On a 9" seat back LCD screen it was annoying.
