Odraude
Is there a way to use other characteristics besides EGO and DEX for your combat value?

ghost-angel
Re: Using other characteristics for combat levels I suppose if you were running an all Mentalist type campaign you could House Rule INT into a Combat Value instead of Ego or Dex. . . JmOz
Re: Using other characteristics for combat levels Assuming your dex is lower than the score you wish to use, and not including house rules: You can buy skill levels to get up to what you want for a CV
Odraude
Re: Using other characteristics for combat levels What did you have in mind? Attack based on COM? Doc I am thinking about running a fantasy game and having some spells' OCV based on INT or CON.
ghost-angel
Re: Using other characteristics for combat levels You're creating a House Rule... which is easily done. You just have to decide if switching from DEX to INT, CON or EGO or whatever is an Advantage, a Limitation, or a Wash. Then determine the value, assign it and go. (If it's a Wash then just note which spell uses which CV.)
Bloodstone
Re: Using other characteristics for combat levels DEX is 3pt per. EGO and CON are both 2pts per INT is 1 pt per. If the cost structure of those attributes isn't changed or an advantage isn't applied to each spell individually, INT based spells are going to be potentially ridiculous... Odraude
Re: Using other characteristics for combat levels Perhaps I will just use Requires a Skill Roll and have them define the characteristic
Kenn
Re: Using other characteristics for combat levels In the Marvel SAGA system, the targeting value for Hand to Hand combat came from Strength instead of Agility. If one can see value in that line of reasoning (a stronger arm is moving faster?) then I suppose it could be done. HtH OCV = STR / 7 or somesuch. I wouldn't actually recommend it though. Opal
Re: Using other characteristics for combat levels RSR would be a good way to get a wizard's INT into the picture. You could base Magic Combat Value on the lower of INT or EGO. That'd give you the same 9pt investments in stats to get a + CV as DEX. Of course, DEX is a /net/ +6 per +1 when you cosider speed, while INT and EGO don't grant figureds. And, if Magic Combat Value only aplies to offense, and you still try to hit DCV with lightning bolts and DECV with charm spells, it's even less of an issue: even INT is probably fine at that point. I suppose you might try INT/5 for Magic Combat Value. It'll also be less of a problem in a game with Characteristic Maxima, where buying an INT of 60 is prettymuch out of the question.
