Tracking a Teleporter

How would you build a power to track a teleporter? By this, I mean an ability to allow a character to follow the "path" a teleporting character took during his teleportation or know where the character ended his movement.

I can think of two basic options: Detect or Tracking. I could build a Detect Teleporter Enhanced Senses power. I would think anyone teleporting would count as "A Class of Things" so that's 5 points for INT-based PER roll. The player could then add Sense, Range, Increased Arc of Perception, etc. as appropriate.

The second option would be some form of the Tracking skill. This seems less appropriate to me. The character that wants this power has gravity-based powers and the rationale is that he can sense disturbances in the gravity well or something.

Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? Or would you even allow a teleporter to be tracked? Thanks in advance.

Re: Tracking a Teleporter

The problem with any 'detect teleport' power, pretty much however it is built, is that 'Teleport' is a power. Powers can have any number of different sfx, for instance, you might have a teleport that requires you to exchange mass with something elsewhere (you go there it comes here) - no mass (or gravity) change.

What this guy wants is 'Detect Mass Fluctuations', with a sfx of 'Gravity'. So much more useful. That would allow him to detect teleports (most of them, anyway) in range, and also stuff like uses of Desolid, density increase, growth, shrinking - maybe, you know - even people walking about.

Spend about 40 points on that and you've got a sense that you can use if completely blinded that can see through walls and is only 'flashed' or 'darknessed' by an unusual sense (gravity) sense affecting power.

Cool.

Re: Tracking a Teleporter

if the character appears within a perception roll

this is off of may character Wraith she is a gravity based mutant that likes playing up the spooky motif

Gravitc perception: N-Ray Perception (Touch Group), +1 to PER Roll, Discriminatory, Analyze, Increased Arc Of Perception (360 Degrees), Range, Targeting, Telescopic: +16, Transmit (51 Active Points); Extra Time (Extra Phase, Only to Activate, -1/2), Linked (FF; Greater Power is Constant or in use most or all of the time; -1/4)

so for Wraith the target would have to teleport over 2km before range mods would kick in so for her 2km she has a 14- perception roll

this is a 5th rev ed build and is touch based

does this help?

this will see them appear if they make their perception roll and are in range

tracking would depend on special effect most might need a trans diamensional advantage

Wraith also has a teleport where by she uses gravity to bend 2 points in time space to meet

think taking a flat sheet of paper an making any 2 corners meet then letting the paper go back to laying flat

for Wraith those 2 points need to be at least 1km apart or as far as 500km

any closer would leave a crease in time space and that would be bad

so tracking would leave no trail to follow(maybe if the tracker could see gravity manipulation)

the tracker could see the end point if they came across it
