Steve
Re: Icons - The Costume and Superpowers Store I was just wondering if it was a buffet line or if it was a "the wand chooses the wizard" type scenario. The wand chooses the wizard, definitely. When a costume sparkles on the racks to a patron's view, they are an analog of one of the superhumans who perished in the Secret Crisis. They could select another costume, but it just "feels wrong" to try and wear it. Because of this basis, all superhumans on Icons Earth are, at their core, all human. There are no aliens, no demonic hybrids, no robots and no mutants.

Yes, as time goes on (and experience is aquired), powers and abilities become internalized. An Icon could gradually transform into something that no longer looks human, but they are the exception. Almost all Icons will still appear human after the "Chrysalis Phase" is complete, which will take several months.

Robotic-Mutant-Demon-Vampire-Hybrid boy: "This is not what I signed up for!" Icons Tailor: "Actually it is what you signed up for. The contract is on the receipt." Steve
Re: Icons - The Costume and Superpowers Store The limitation of superhuman origins to Earth humans will not prevent alien invasions or visitations, or extra-dimensional invasions or visitations. But for PCs, they have to start as human beings who have been given a gift of power.
Steve
Re: Icons - The Costume and Superpowers Store Session summaries of the campaign so far. Issue 1: Our heroes meet up to deal with a bank robbery staged by Icon Earth's versions of Anklyosaur, Green Dragon, Ogre and Pulsar. Heroes defeat villains, and the team's martial artist renames Green Dragon into Glass Dragon after taking him out with two well-rolled attacks, which was not appreciated at all by the villain. Panzer, the powered armor heroine, is reviled by elements of the press for being overly destructive. Supernal, the group's flying brick (and secretly billionaire playboy) is hailed for his heroism. Issue 2: A party held by Franklin Stone at ACI headquarters is attended by each of the heroes in their secret identities. A group of agent types led by Talisman has their robbery/hostage-taking attempt foiled. Panzer deals with the agents by firing an area affect plasma burst inside the building, destroying the floor they are on and the floors above and beneath. Franklin Stone is not amused. Issue 3: A building is on fire, and the heroes must stop the fire and find a canister of nerve gas stolen by accident by the local street gang and stashed in the building. Much heroism is done and lives are saved. The group is invited by the mayor to form the first superteam in the country and are provided a building to set up shop. The building is provided by Supernal in his secret identity. Issue 4: Mechanon-Mark I appears and attacks NORAD. Our heroes are requested to assist by the President through their DOSPA representative. The villainous robot manages to retarget and launch a single missile, aimed at Washington, DC. Mechanon is defeated by a lightning spell cast by the group's spellcaster Gatekeeper and self-destructs. The missile is sent off into space by Supernal, earning him much praise as he returns.
