Christopher
Re: So, all the super-prisons broke ... Unless those commands are "name me as your heir in your Last Will & Testament" I think Menton will be rather disappointed with the results when he comes out of his 80-year nap. Okay, maybe 80 years was a little much. But what if the command is based on self-replicating nanites that avoid detection on standart medical survey. And infect children carried to term too? Perhaps they also infect intimacy partners? And only he has the codes to activate them. So do you really want to put him into hot sleep, or rather cold sleep? Matt the Bruins
Re: So, all the super-prisons broke ... On a more serious note, while you can certainly set up Rube Goldberg scenarios where the common sense approach to incarceration will backfire, the people locking super-menaces up are going to have to work with information that's actually available to them about risks and relative threat level. They're not going to be able to allow for every possible contingency plan a villain may have set up in the event of their capture. For living WMD villains Hot Sleep would probably be the safest option to use in general if the authorities were unwilling to kill them outright. Most guys of that power level can sit on a box of explosives, and be a little miffed when it goes off. Of course, that's where some of the legal issues start up ... Hot Sleep is ineffective as a rehabilitation/punishment mechanism, but if capital punishment isn't an option due to invulnerability, what other options do you have?
