brionl
So, how would you build a Pied Piper type mind control, where they have to hear the music? Mind Control, AoE, no range, affected as other sense group(hearing)?
Hyper-Man
Re: Pied Piper effect I would probably throw Cumulative in there as well. You could also play around with Drain vs. Ego in a similar fashion. This is how I did something similar when I modeled Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth for 6e: Golden Lasso of Truth 6 1) Stretching 16m, x4 Noncombat, Reduced Endurance (½ END; +¼); Limited Power Only for Grabs and Throws (-1), OAF Unbreakable (Lasso; -1), Always Direct (-¼), Limited Body Parts (-¼), Gestures (-¼), Unified Power (-¼) 1 7 2) Area Of Effect (4m Radius; +¼) for up to 75 Active Points of STR (including Martial Grab bonus), Reduced Endurance (½ END; +¼); Limited Power Only for Grabs and Throws (-1), OAF Unbreakable (Lasso; -1), Gestures (-¼), Unified Power (-¼) 1 The Fires of Hestia 13 Drain EGO 2d6 (standard effect: 6 points), Area Of Effect (4m Radius; +¼), Reduced Endurance (½ END; +¼), Constant (+½), Penetrating (+½), Delayed Return Rate (points return at the rate of 5 per Minute; +1); Conditional Power Only to force truthful answers from anyone held within the Lasso (From 6e1, page 44: At EGO 0 the character follows all orders given to him from any source unless he succeeds with an EGO Roll.; -1), OAF Unbreakable (Golden Lasso; -1), Limited Power Only usable vs. target(s) grabbed using Golden Lasso (-1), No Range (-½), Concentration, Must Concentrate throughout use of Constant Power (½ DCV; -½), Unified Power (-¼)

I believe the details of this version of AoE were first outlined in the Ultimate Energy Projector. Can't recall where else they have been detailed since then... Sean Waters
Re: Pied Piper effect Page 136 of the Advanced Player's Guide has 'voice range', and it probably prevents you having to do something complicated with 'Indirect'. Christopher
Re: Pied Piper effect Note that voice range does not covers transmitting it via Radio. It only cover direct exposure in a 40m radius area, with no noise present. It's build as Area of Effect (Radius, +1), Personal Immunity, No Range. Bloodstone
Re: Pied Piper effect Do you really need to buy personal immunity to your own mind control? On an AoE mind control that you are sitting in the middle of? Yes, I think that would be wise... "Follow the Piper" would have you chasing your own tail for days
Christopher
Re: Pied Piper effect Do you really need to buy personal immunity to your own mind control? Do you want to forget it with the right GM? or the wrong? It would at the very least be distracting to hit yourself with your own mental attack. About as nice as being hit by a equal DC Blast. Since everyone has to get the same command with an AOE, you can't give yourself a "safe" command either.
Sean Waters
Re: Pied Piper effect "Children, follow the Piper. Quietly now." Assuming the Piper is not a child, that could arguably work, but I.agree with Christopher - you are still being hit by an attack and, whilst that has no rules effect, it SHOULD be distracting. Moreover it smacks of getting an advantage from something you are saving points with, which smells bad.

Then you probably do need "indirect" to get around the Line Of Sight for targeting mental powers, unless you can con the GM that it is, somehow, a wash.
