How would hero handle a lantern character?

I'm curious as to how the hero system would handle a lantern type character, you know like green lantern but maybe one of the other colors. I'd like to see how it might handle a red lantern, for example.

You should check out this recent thread:

Note that it's on the Champions (genre) forum.

This forum (HERO System Discussion) is more for rule mechanics discussions for any genre.

Re: How would hero handle a lantern character?

I thought that variable power pools where originally designed for GL type characters.

There are more for every character that has a certain amount of history, as characters will get tons of powers over the course of their publication history.

GL:

As core power I would look the Telekinesis, Material manifestation.

With that you can already do Damage at Range and Grab Foes at range.

Put that Telekinesis in a Multipower togehter with:

Blast

Barrier (5E Forcewall) and/or Entangle

RKA (to Kill robots an Barriers)

Maybe a HKA and HTH-Attack Slot (you can add the STR), maybe with Reduced Endurance.

They mostly do thigns you can do with TK, but tend do do more Damage/have better efficiency than TK.

Most of what you see them do in combat is just a use of one of these base powers. They might look different from use to use, but that is mostly mirrors and smoke.

A "Hardlight Sniper Rifle" is propably just Brace and Set with Blast/RKA.

A Hardlight Minigun is just the description for a Multiple Power Attack/Spread with the RKA.

A big Hardlight Fan that lifts with air pressure is just the special effect for Telekinesis, used to lift somebody.

They were originally designed for gadgeteers, actually. The "Gadget Pool" existed before the more general "Variable Power Pool."
