  1. Re: Any voip/skype super games? at all? Okay, I have a home spun Comic Book universe that derives inspiration from: Champions, GURPS Supers, Marvel, DC, Image, and other sources. I have essentially three campaign ideas. ICONS -- Essentially you would play re-invented/re-imagined/deconstructed versions of popular comic icons (Superman, Batman, Iron Man, Thor, Green Lantern, Dr. Strange etc...) You would create your Iconic super team. You would be among the most powerful heroes in the world. The game would have a relatively high point total and lots of work to flesh out characters, backgrounds and builds in order to balance fun, playability & fairness. (I would find this game fun and challenging as I usually run games that have mid level power levels. GMing something akin to the Justice League would be new for me. I would expect this to be Bronze Age in flavor) G.U.A.R.D. Team USA -- (Government Ultra-human, Allied, Rescue & Defense) -- The united states governments runs a variety of GUARD Teams (Think Avengers: The Initiative) but instead of 50 teams there are more like Ten overseeing territories. I would want to run the National Team which would have a power level similar to The Avengers. I would want someone to play the Patriot leader type character, a legacy identity dating back to WWII (ala Captain America) the rest of the team should be stable, committed, professional heavy hitters. (Like the Icon game I think this would be loads of fun. Higher power levels with the resources and baggage of the federal government. A very public team with propaganda duties to match their super hero duties.) The Accidental Team-- A Game by Consensus -- Still set in the home spun world this would be an average power game where the starting point for the game would be reached by consensus of the players and the GM but the players are free to create their characters as they see fit according to campaign guidelines. I think this game would have a classic New Warriors feel or even Teen Titans feel. (This game would be lots of fun for me because it means collaborating and building on ideas and moving forward. Lots of interpersonal role play opportunities.) As a self avowed Marvel zombie (I know it well and research it often) who greatly appreciates and enjoys the DC universe I would be willing to run one of the following three campaigns in an alternate Marvel Universe: SENTINELS -- In a MU inspired in great part by The House of M, a world where the arms race involved Super Humans rather than nukes -- Some have found that in this outwardly appearing Utopian World normal non-supers are regarded as 2nd class citizens at best and less than human at worst. (This game would be my personal favorite because it involves long ranging strategy on the part of the players, conspiracy, and tactical savvy. This is also a game I have been developing over the last few months. A central premise of the game involves a concept originally Found in Valiant Comic's H.A.R.D. Corps. This could be a heroic campaign, an anti-hero campaign or a villain campaign completely dependent on the action of the players and what the situation calls for) X-Men Simple classic and awesome. I was a hard corp X-head as a teenager and have always enjoyed the idea of running an X-men game. Players would be free to choose the Mutant of their choice and I could morph the universe around them. An average super heroic starting power level that could take you all over this particular MU. (It's close to heart and something I know very well. I have done it before but I would love to go down memory lane with any other X-heads) Avengers Academy Lower powered game of newbie supers learning from the old pros. Graduate and go your own way and develop your own legend. (A very collaborative game where we can geek out together and create the team, supporting cast and plot lines together for a mutually entertaining experience.)
  2. Re: Any voip/skype super games? at all? So what type of campaign would folks be interested in? CU, MU, DCU or variants there of or something more original? Golden age, silver, bronze, iron? Themes, settings? What about the conflict/rpg mix?
  3. Re: Any voip/skype super games? at all? I too would very interested in a voip game. I would even be willing to GM but I would love to play. We would have to figure out map tools and chat of course. I hope we see more interest. LA Singletary
  4. Re: Expanded Shazam power set question PANTHEON!! The Many Forms Of Proteus The Invulnerability of Achillies The Champion Spirit of Nike The Courage of Theseus The Might of Hercules The Shadow of Erebus The Heart of Olympus The Justice of Nemesis Just my lil contribution witha mix of Heroes and other gods from the Greek/Roman traditions.
  5. Re: Superhuman Endurance You have me there Hyperman! Still think its a brillian Idea... my next question is going to be about building persistant Mind Control Powers? Muahahaha Thanks Again, Lauren
  6. Re: Superhuman Endurance Hey all, I was reading through my Hero 5th edition Revised book and noted that Regneration could (with the GM's permision) be utilized for other stats. I worked with the hero designer and came up with a Regneration that worked on both STUN and END. The advantage of this build is regardless of HOW stunned the character becomes they will regain consciousness much much faster. So I guess it would fall on the individual gamemaster and the major influencers would be character concept. The never gets tired never stays down type of hero that just will not quit. Wanted to see if anyone else had thoughts on building it as a Stun/END regen. Thanks much, Lauren A. Singletary
  7. Re: About PRIMUS JmOz, I like the idea a whole lot. I think having Gold, Silver and Bronze level Avengers makes a whole lot of sense. You might even have a super secret Platinum Avenger that gets activated only for Dr. Destoyer Level. I am of the understanding that Primus has regular field agents as well right? What would their point totals be and would they have specializations ala UNTIL/Viper agents? I agree that they should act like a version of the FBI. I ran a game where multiple states were Protected by Goverment Sanctioned supers and backed up by PRIMUS. Each team had a Primus agent assigned to run back up for them as a liason to Primus. I also had an UNTIL liason but that person only showed up when their were internationl issues. Hope to hear more on this subject. Lauren A. Singletary
  8. Re: London Knights So how many spots remain open at this time? And where exactly does someone post? I signed up at StoryCrafter but I am some how failing to navigate it intuitively. The game and character discussion has really piqued my interest. LA Singletary
  9. Re: Hero Version of The Everyman Thanks to everyone who contributed! This has certainly given me more food for thought as I move forward creating characters in HERO. Lauren A. Singletary
  10. Re: Hero Version of The Everyman Alibear, How Much PD does a pro boxer need? In my mind the typical Heavy Weight Boxer would be STR 12-15 (at the upmost) based on that I can pick this thing up and take one step. I think perhaps once in my life when I was younger, working out and playing ball I would have maxed at an STR 12. So that means I punch with a 2d6 cool. I have no martial training when it comes to fighting, but a Boxer does. So he purchases X martial arts skills and possibly some damage classes as well. What do you need to go round after round? And thank you for the response to my query! Lauren A. Singletary
  11. So more than just recouping endurance I wanted to build out a power where a character shrugs off stun very quickly and keeps coming back. I am thinking about a combo of +2 Speed & +20 REC. The two extra phases can only be used to recover and the +20 REC can only be used when a recovery is taken not a post 12 Recovery. Does this make sense? And how big a limitation are those. Is there a better way to achieve this effect? LA Singletary
  12. Re: My Champions RPG Lens on Squidoo Awesome Write Up! Lauren A. Singletary
  13. Re: Hero Version of The Everyman "Holey Rusted Metal Batman!!" There is an Everyman Book for HERO. This may indeed answer many of my questions. Time to spend some well earned gift certificates online. This may well answer many of my nagging questions. Can anyone recommend the book? Lauren A. Singletary (Special thanks go out to Nato and His Squidoo Lens on HERO)
  14. Re: Hero Version of The Everyman Clonus, I see your point. And I know that I do not play HERO to play a regular guy. I have pushed the bar a lil bit on previous campaigns I have run fleshing out "typical" people when it comes to skills and characteristics. Eventually you just have to let certain things go. I find that the devil is the detail of a good concept and character and with some thoughtfulness that can be displayed on a character sheet with care...but not at the sacrafice of fun. Thanks for the input Clonus, Lauren A. Singletary
  15. Re: Hero Version of The Everyman Lucius, I certainly get your meaning. There are certainly different facets to intellect and how it is utilized. There are concepts out there trying to account for Emotional Intelligence (higher degrees of empathy) and Athletic Intelligence (The Naturals of the world) And there is no end all be all quantifiable measurement of Intelligence IRL but thats why I wanted to know how people make those interpretations. Certainly Frank Abagnale Jr the famed con man who inspired "Catch Me If You Can" is a highly intelligent person. He was quick on his feet, alert and able to adapt. He certainly had some "points" in a number of skils. Albert Einstein is certainly considered one of the greatest minds of the 20th century. He had a differnt type of intellect and he spent his "points" differently and applied his mental prowess in different ways than Frank. It seems to me that Noble prize winners are tenacious and they pay attention to every detail of their work. I would still like to see how you construct these differing types of intelligent people. Whats the difference between the brillian Lawyer and the Brillian Programmer. Lots of that has to do with skill focuses, talents. I come from the school of your build should support your concept. But I also like knowing when is someone a good athlete and when are they are considered the greatest. Whose a a good marksman and whose a legendary marksman and whats the difference. STR is easy, now what about CON, Body, REC, Speed Running and Jumping. What's the diff between a Golden Gloves Boxer, Olympic Boxer, and a famed Prize Fighter? Thanks for responding to my ramblings and musing Lucius, -Lauren A. Singletary
  16. Nope this is not a shape shifting duplicating man (Though that is an idea worth exploring) I have always wondered how to classify regular people in the Hero system. I know their are guidelines but it always seemed a bit shallow to me for certain skilled individual. I always wanted to see people's thoughts on creating... say a Football Player. Then I wanted to see a break down by position ie Lineman, Quaterback, & Place Kicker. Then I am curious what are the differences between the High School Versions, College Versions, and Pros. You could take this approach with a couple of different sports. I also wanted to know the diffeence between the small town cop, a big city detective and a newbie FBI grad. What about that rockstar FBI guy? Often I see people putting their characters up for review and I notice things like Strength 15 for these supposedley not uber buffed character concepts and I think to myself. "Doesn't that put his character in the Olympic Weight Lifter range" I run into the same concerns when I look at intellect scores, I have heard that the average American IQ ranges from 92-100. Now I think we all know that their are many different ways to supposedly test inteligence or cognitive skills and this could spark a debate unto itself but again I see a fair share of minmaxing over this stat & DEX because people do not want to miss those crucial roles. I am interested to see how we quantify the intellect score as it relates to historic figrures and for that matter how discipline/skill master is quantified. I am asking for a kind of well thought out yard stick by which to to measure a character. I think this would especially be helpful for lower leveled campaigns. (I will not be at all suprised that this forum has already intertained this notion and eagerly await kind nudge in the right direction in the form of a hyperlink) Thanks much Lauren A. Singletary
