  1. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever Are you sure the weight is against Spidey hurting the Rhino? Snake, you are reading through this too quickly if you think I calimed the OHOTMU was accurate much less the most accurate srouce of info.
  2. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever Yeah, that sounds pretty stupid.
  3. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever The point folks made earlier is that he doesn't use it against people.
  4. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever You guys were asked to provide examples of that damage shield being used on people some time ago.
  5. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever And yet, there are scans on this very thread showing him putting a hurt on Rhino and the Hulk. And that's enough. There are also scans showing feats of strength by Spider-Man, over the decades, that are greater than the OHOTMU suggests. If you guys don't like it, that's cool. But it isn't inconsistent with the character.

  7. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever There was a Silver Surfer discussion sometime ago in the thread. My interpretation of the Silver Surfer is that he isn't 100% invulnerable to any attack an Avenger throws at him and that he's bolstering his defenses with the Power Cosmic. If that's how he works, it's not much of a leap to suggest that's how Firelord works to explain how his defenses apply. I think that's plenty plausible enough. Frankly, that so many are able to provide reasons for that fight to go down as it did makes me wonder why anyone would claim it's an obvious violation of what defines Spider-Man's capabilities.
  8. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever the problem is they aren't singular occasions. When Chuckg has demanded proof of these sorts of claims, Hugh and Andrew and Gary have been able to provide them. Chuckg's argument is that Spidey's beatdown of Firelord is inconsistent with his past actions. I don't agree based on the fact that it's relatively easy to find evidence of Spidey doing things that go beyond the description of Spidey's capabilities that Chuckg, and I think you, claim. Given that Spidey isn't inconsistent. If the argument is that you guys don't like the fight because you think Spidey shouldn't be able to do something he has been depicted doing in a healthy number of stories over the years - that's your prerogative. But telling me that I have to ignore a healthy number of stories because it conflicts with your vision of Spidey is a bit much.
  9. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever The indication is sometimes Firelord gets hurt by attacks that don't hurt him at other times. Based on my read of Silver Surfer and his use of the Power Cosmic, it is analogous to a VPP bolstering his defenses.
  10. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever Shaft? He's one bad...
  11. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever
  12. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever He's tagged Rhino before. He has also made the Hulk feel pain.
  13. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever Examples have been provided in this very thread.
  14. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever As long as we know where everybody is coming from.
  15. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever
  16. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever Why else would I not agree with you? I don't think you've read enough Spider-Man or you just haven't thought about the implications of quite a few Spidey stories as you haven't noted why the Firelord story isn't all that exceptional. If I didn't think that we wouldn't be disagreeing would we? Next time, I'll say something like this - "I've noticed some things in Spider-Man comics that you haven't then, I suppose." Is that better?
  17. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever You're missing a certain nuance then. I've noticed a fairly one-sided state of affairs concerning ridicule and distortion. Chuckg and McCoy have literally put words in other's mouths whereas their opponents have shown the logical implications of what's wrong with their assumptions. It may not paint Chuckg's or McCoy's position in a positive light but it isn't a matter of putting words in someone's mouth in order to pretend them the fool.
  18. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever Are we at the point where you guys begin full-scale personal attacks?
  19. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever I suppose I should be sick of you disagreeing with me by that logic.
  20. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever Somebody, Enforcer, was arguing that. It's not all about you, Chuckg.
  21. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever
  22. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever There isn't a single actual point in this response - just a pathetic attempt to pretend that Spider-Man moving rapidly and barraging an arrogant foe is the equivalent of Batman's writing which allows him to have precognitive powers and manipulate events at a whim.
  23. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever
  24. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever Nope, because you arguing that "canon sometimes contradicts itself" and you get to pick which part of canon should remain canon. We're arguing that the issue you claim is contradictory isn't.
  25. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever The Spider-Sense warns him of danger, not of no-danger. He responds to its impulses, not so much the lack of its impulses.
