  1. Thanks!! Ben, Thank you for taking this on! I think this is a GREAT idea!! I love the Spacer's Toolkit, and look forward to some of the ideas that others put on here. Polaris
  2. I really liked the cover. I do, however, mix in an almost "superhero" feel into my fantasy games, tho. I liked the color mixes and of course the drawing. It also kind of reminds me of an Everquest feel (that is NOT meant as an insult... I also like EQ, and I am NOT saying that it was inspired by EQ or anything... just that it has kind of a "heroic fantasy" feel to it). Finally, I liked it because I think it commands attention on the shelf. My FLGS has a TON of RPG books. They do place Hero in a rather favorable location in the store (they know that Hero sells well). However, anything that can draw the eyes of customers to the book is a good thing. Polaris
  3. Strike Force Greetings, I would recommend trying to get a hand on the book titled Strike Force. The book was written by Aaron Allston. I happened to pick it up at a used book store and have been very happy with it. Some of the other people here on the message boards have also commented highly about it. Polaris

    Prices?

Greetings, As you make items for your star hero campaigns (like starships or blaster pistols), how do you calculate the price of the item (how many credits does each point cost... and is the points used the active points or real points)? Polaris
  5. Great Idea Greetings, I think an online database for spacer's toolkit would be a GREAT idea! I can understand Steve's hesitation given the work that undoubtedly goes into the USPD online database. If such a database comes along for Spacer's Toolkit, then I think a lot of us would get a lot of good use out of it too. Polaris
  6. Fuzion Mechs Greetings, When I began role playing years ago, I played in TSR's Marvel game and WEG's Star Wars. When I was introduced to Fuzion, i really liked it and that system is what brought me over to playing Champions. If Mekton (or some other mecha game) is in Fuzion, then converting it should be very easy (is it in Fuzion, or did I misunderstand?) I am going to go out today or tomorrow and see if I can get Spacer's Toolkit. If it as good as people are saying, then it may be what I have been looking for. Thanks again everyone for your help! Polaris
  7. d20 Mecha GoO's book "d20 Mecha" has been pushed back to an "early August" release. While preparing the book, they worked with another company called "Dream Pod 9", who was interested in converting all of their mecha into d20. DP9 used the mecha creation system devised by GoO, and wrote a book called "d20 Mecha Compendium". Originally, the two books were to be released at about the same time, but when GoO kept postponing the release of d20 Mecha, DP9 decided to proceed with the release of the d20 Mecha Compendium. In essence, we have the sourcebook (the compendium) out months before the core book (d20 mecha). Polaris
  8. Psych Lim Thanks for the clarification, Monolith. Do you (or anyone) have any suggestions on how the limitation might be improved to make it not one sided? Perhaps if the squire were to have a sense of duty that could be worked to sometimes "get in the way"? Any suggestions on what you mean or how it could be improved would be most welcome... Polaris
  9. Greetings, One of the players in our group wants to make a follower (the player plays a Paladin, and wants to make a squire, basically). To do this, we make the squire like a PC, and then the Paladin pays 1/5 of the total character cost.. right? When calculating the cost of the follower to the Paladin, do we do the 1/5 of the cost before or after complications? Would "Duty to Paladin--Total" be a complication that the squire should have (it would seem to be a help to the Paladin, AND reduces the cost to the Paladin)? Thanks! Polaris
  10. Mekton Logan, Mekton rules can be found online for free (I am not sure of the URL, but I found it from a google search on Mecha)... so I know that Mekton is still around. Polaris
  11. Thank you Steve for UNTIL's Superpower Database! I am very happy with the Hero system, but it can be difficult sometimes creating powers. This book provides a ton of superpowers to use, and gives some excellent ideas for other powers. It also helps illustrate how to build just about any power I want. This has helped my enjoyment of Champions a ton, and helped the less experienced members of our group be able to make the character they want (rather that having to have the more experienced players hold our hand the whole way). Thanks also to the people contributing powers to the online version of the USPD. I think it is very neat that the folks at DOJ allow the expansion of their book online for even more powers. It is also very nice of the folks that contribute powers to help. Thanks! Polaris
  12. Got the post Melchior, Please disregard... I hadn't read your post about how you did the conversions... Polaris
  13. Help convert another D&D group? Melchior, You mentioned that you converted your D&D world to Hero. I am in a somwhat similar situation. My group is very big into Fantasy genre, and plays D&D 3E. We used to play Champions Super Heroes, but now they are experimenting with M&M (a d20 Supers game) so the games would use the same basic system. With the soon to be released FH, and the superiority of Hero for Superheroes, I would like for us to switch to FH for our fantasy game, and stick with Champions for our supers. The problem is that our world is in d20, and they have D&D characters they are not inclined to give up. Would you (or anyone) be willing to share your system for converting from D&D/d20 to Hero? Thanks! Polaris
  14. DH? Bob, Steve might not be interested in publishing a book about Mecha hero (I am unsure if he would be interested or not), but perhaps if you did a DH article, it might (depending upon the reaction) demonstrate enough interest for an ebook? It is just a thought... I think businesses can be persuaded by market interest. Polaris
  15. Thanks!!! Wow, thanks guys!! That is a HUGE help! Polaris
  16. Does anyone have a d20 conversion table for Champions? My group has been playing d20 as we waited for Fantasy Hero to come out. I would like for us to switch to Hero system (we play supers with M&M, Fantasy with 3E and Science Fiction with Star Wars/Blood and Space... we like to use a single system, and d20 has really been the one that has supported all the genres). With Fantasy hero coming out, it would be neat to get the group switched over to Hero system for all three genres. If I could get a conversion system, then players would not have to lose any of their stuff in the switch over. Thanks in advance!! Polaris
  17. Bridgetown Hobbies in Portland, OR Greetings all, One of the best stores for carrying Hero Products that I have come across is Bridgetown Hobbies (formerly known as Military Corner) in Portland, OR (this is not meant as an advertisement, I have no affiliation with them other than being a very satisified customer). They get the Hero products with lightening speed. Within a few days of USPD coming out, the entire shipment was SOLD OUT. I got my copy in the second shipment. This product seems to be going fast... which is good to see. Polaris
  18. Greetings all, I am wanting to add battle mechs to my game. The world the PCs come from (Terra) is still rather new to making Battle mechs, so I intend on adding disadvantages to some of the systems (in particular activation rolls to simulate the unreliability of the mech), but some worlds have been using Mechs as long as Earth has been using MBTs. Does anyone have any Mecha made that they would be willing to share? Thanks in advance! Polaris
