  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Thoses are from an Earthdawn game some weeks away, I will try to translate them correctly. The party is exploring wasteland and stopped by a large gully filled by nearly invisible watery substance. "Ok, your groups stop at the feet of the pit" (this one mine) "Can I see the river ?" One PJ. "No there is the gully that block the view" Another PJ "Did I see the invisible water ?" (thoses are theirs)

    6E Mess

Re: 6E Mess I know I am a total newbie, so please forgive but... In Balabanto Stadium example, to benefit of his massive AOE his hero is supposed to be flying 32 meters above the stadium, right ? Any altitude lower will shorten the radius of the AOE in proportion. Of course he could fly lower and shoot in diagons but his result will be an oblong circle not of very larger area.... So my question is : is it really such a tremendous advantage if you consider the trouble he have for being flying so high above... Times to go up there, vulnerability (no place to hide, plain view of everyone ), worse L.O.S. because there is plenty of vertical coverage (foilage, flags, tents, umbrella) that make his target identification harder. Just go up a 10 story builidng and look below you, plenty of things are now covered that weren't at groud level... and interior of buildings are probably now out of reach... Also there is the trouble not to affect friends and civilians in the blast, at this distance there is some delay before impact and situation is moving rapidly... P.S. European I.Q of 165 ... hoped it was enough to post...
  3. Re: Potential new player... where to start ? I would totaly advice against this... Even if the CO translation is decent, there is many many things badly translated, from subtle difference ( a boat and a ship ) to jokes and film reference the translator didn't get. I several times translated parts or novels and rulesbook and it is a tedious and heavy work. Especially when the author like to use synonyms of the same verb that dont exist in french... Translation is really an "exercice de style" when you try to keep the initial tone and writing style. Even translating 1 or 2 pages a day it is still a years work ( not counting edition ). Of course, if I could get paid to do so ...
  4. Re: Potential new player... where to start ? Trouble isn't as much for me than for my players whom have demonstrated a large resistance to english written text Hopefully I can manage without them having to consult the book on their own
  5. Re: Potential new player... where to start ? Thanks you all for the information. I understand the new Champions is coming... in the interim, any supplement you suggest would be a good buy ?
  6. Hello, I am looking for a Super Heroes RPG ( and playing Champions Online ), so I come to the site. But I must confess I am a bit overwhelmed by the number of books and the lack of precise description of the gaming system on the site. Also there is a new edition release wich complicate a bit. I am fairly used to complex gaming systema but this ones remember me of ASL by the use of a lot of abbs. Could someone please point me out/explain me : 1- A quick explanation of the gaming systema : percentile, skills check, template ? 2- What are the books I need to start a Super-Heroes/Champions campaign ? 3- Are some of the books avaliable in french ? Thanks.
