  1. Re: Adapting package to 6e Sorry I was no RBH when posting. I was refering to all the Law-Enforcement, Spy, Military Carreer package/template. I check the translation rules from 5th to 6th edition but there is no set thing (just like everything in HERO it seems...). Sometimes you can wonder why, with so many pages in all thoses rulebooks things aren't a lot more set in stones...

Re: A Storeowner's First Impression As a beginner in HERO system I cant agree more with the OP and add some elements : 1- I wouldn't have known about HERO system without Champions Online. 2- I like large rulesbook so for me it is a +1. 3- For a supposedly all included systema HERO is seriously lacking, after purchasing the basic and rules set, I buyed Champions and Dark Champions to have more example of NPC and power creation, Gears and Bestiary because I NEEDED more examples and more readily avaliable elements before I can gamemaster it. I dont know DnD 4th editions, but in every and all other RPG I played I can be assumed to have a ready to play adventure in the books, HERO have none of it. Even GURPS 3rd Edition that I get from garbage bin have it. Frankly, visually and from the content HERO 6th edition isn't aimed at new players at all... it is aimed at veteran from the 5th. And the Basic Rulesbook didn't do the trick either because there is so much lacking in it that it is nearly not usable as it is, without previous knowledge of the game system.

  7. Re: Barrier With only 1m heigth and 1m width your barriers wont be all that much usefull... I would rule they need an activation roll to actually protect against anything... they are also fairly easy to climb around I think we need a common sense rules too, because a 1x1x4 barrier is nothing else than a 1x4x1 barrier when flanked...

  10. Am I right to think that the 1d6-1 old STUN modifier from 5th Edition Supplement should translate into 1d3 while the old 1d6 become 1d3+1 ?
  11. ... buying ? I understand that the UNTIL power books will be useless. The bestiary could be still up to date. Is it worthy to buy the Villain compendium or better to wait for their stats revamped ? The Champion Universe Bundle ?
  12. Re: CHAMPIONS 6E -- What Do *You* Want To See? Well, didn't know it existed... was there an add about it in the basic book ? Anyway, even just one table wouldn't be really wasted space. You know, for some people it wont be 6th edition but 1st edition... and it is hard enough to start this system already, so anything that provide guidelines or examples would definitely not be "wasted space" for newcomers.

A Hero is more succeptible to transform in animal form or have animal pet/summon, and it is quite hard to come with stats on the fly. especially you can include some common ones : Shark, sabertooth tigers, tyranosaurus, green things from outer space. This is a genre book, so a bit more meat on the bones would be appreciated. (my opinion of beginner GM, having the 5th edition Champion already).

  16. Re: Get away from me. DISPEL wont work on SPD, ED, PD or any other Stats (figured or not) DISPEL can only be used against Power... What you are looking for is Drain...
  17. Re: Stargate Refuge I need to check a bit more about SG but he seems that when Cameron (or was it Shepperd ? ) was given command of a SG team they promote him ? After all that is army and the scientist, if not a civilian, will probably by at least Capitain (even Lt.Col or Major ), so the team leader must out-rank him/her.
  18. Re: The Zat gun from Stargate Hello, resurrecting this thread as I am preparing a Stargate one-shoot. The Fire-Lance is definitely not armor piercing : it cant destroy a lump of wood. Its damage is mainly fire/energy and PRE. The P.90 is supposedly stronger, and a MMG definitely is (as Teal'c switch his lance for a MMG when larger opposition is espected ). It does a lot of STUN and people usually bleed to death from hits... but not a lot of insta-kill... except on NPC...

  20. Re: Multipower imbalance Except thoses will be DC 13 ( 60 STR + 1d6 HA ).... and a hell lot of them... (HA with Ranged). It was just an example why enabling unlimited power attack simultaneously sound weird... ( just remove the AF if you want, you still have 5 or 6 DC 13 attack on the same target )... By the way, I only have the Basic Rules so I cant access the whole detail on combined attacks as they just aren't mentionned in it. Also can I combine multiple Attack mode ? Martial Strike + Martial Push ? Can a combined power attack use something else than the Strike combat action ?
  21. Re: Multipower imbalance I stand corrected about the attacks... but I dont think I will allow it,because that is plain silly IMDNSHO. Let say a brick with 50-60 STR.... He buy 6 1D6 HA for less than 30 pts and can strike 6 time in a single phase ? He just have to add ranged, limits by STR throwing range, autofire 5, OAF, limited charges... and buy multiple time the same cheap power and he will blast through the opposition in phase 12. Is there a limit on the number of Gun I can shoot ? after all they are just Ranged Power too ? What is the point in limiting DC if the players can each attack several time in the same phase ? oO Sure a 20-25 DC attack is bad, but 3 to 4 14DC ones aren't especially nice either... This is all plain sillyness...
  22. Hello, I found the notion of MP very confusing, except for the VFPP. Here are 3 example : 1- A Hero with Energy control he could use to Fly, Throw different energy blast and use as a Damage Shield. The rules use this as an example of a MP. 2- A Hero Gadgeter that use a Modified PickAxe, he could use it to attack with, at melee or throwing, to tunnel through earth and to raise dirt-walls (as cover more than protection). Even if this is a OAF this is still a MP, right ? 3- The same Hero use an Harness that give him extra-strength, a resistant protection, life support(breath) and have a radio and sonar integrated. This is a OIF but this is not a MP. .. I am starting to really wonder about the whole MP thing. The more I think about it the more it look like a way to lessen cost for no real good argument (except the gadgeteer tool belt of course). After all you can pretty put every Attack power into a MP : Attack Power Pool and be rules compliant. As some have already asked, aren't MP attaques better described as a lone power with large Variable Advantage ? Aren't MP just construct that exist because of points limitation and campaign setting limits on Active Points ?
  23. Re: Multipower imbalance Err, you CANT use 2 attack power at the same time, even while paying full price for them... They are each a separate action, aren't they ? If not I could just fire every gun I have on me, or use several time the same power in the same action ? I think that MP is perhaps a bit weird to justify... It is a nice way to cheapen powers but all the justification sound a bit hollow... or at very last, very borderline between designing for effect and designing for concept/roleplay... weird...

  25. Re: How to balance the heavy brick ? I am afraid he will be perfectly satisfied... the trick being for him to connect, because right now he is on OCV-3 against opposition of DCV-7/8, and with a SPD 3 against 5-6... Sure he will hit good... if he manage to roll a 3 now and then...
