  1. Re: Noob here... Just started too. I own the Hero Basic Rulebook 6th Edition and it is pretty complete to get a first grasp at the game (even if it is a bit lacking in animals and NPCs ). It is avaliable for download and you can print it for not so much money...
  2. Re: How to balance the heavy brick ? Thanks for your advice averyone The trick is that if I curtail his ability to use HA, by lowering his DC it will look weird compared to the other players... One have a 10D6 HA with a 10 STR, wich isn't a trouble. He will have a 2D6 HA with 60 STR, wich look a bit weird... That the trouble with Threadshold, if I put a hard limit on DC and STR (like I planned to do by the way ), it means the higher STR guys will have attacks that sound very puny, if used by anyone else... I guess I will follow your ideas and : 1- Limit his STR, 60 is a bit too much, 40 will be plenty enough. 2- Limit his HA, put a lot less DC and add more avantages. 3- Use the freed points in more skills and more even Stats. By the way, the same guy have a 20 PD 2ED defense... so his character is already severly unbalanced, and a disaster in being... Looks like the GM job is to take all the characters sheet and re-write them a lot before handing them back... wich make sense in a way a lot of my players dont read the rules...
  3. Hello, once more I am asking for the insight, experience and common wisdom of the Great Mind. One of my player is pretty one-dimensionnal. So his character is evident : A Brick, with density increase and large fist (BTW the player is the only people I know that have a pick-up line similar to Hulk... genuinely... ). The trouble is that with a HtH Power he raised to 27d6 of damage for a 300pts character... Even if he kept his OCV to 3-4 and isn't the brickest brick in the lot, that is still a large amount of damage and a potential for splotchiness for the opposition. I know I will give him the No-Killing limitation wich will greatly hinder his combat potential (hard not to kill living thingies with an average of 27 BODY) and against Supervillain is lack of OCV and speed will make him somewhat useless, enough to be balanced ? The question is : how do you balance great STR and HTH Power ? Should'nt HtH power be rated more than 5pts by DC ? Or be limited with players without Super-Strength ? Opinions ? way you manage the situation ? Thanks, Nathaniel.
  4. Re: Hero Basic 6th : Destructible FOCUS and Power Armor That's a lot of information to digest... ... especially as, as I mentionned in the title, I have access only to the basic rules set wich mean I cant make my focus undestructible by limitation. I was a great Ironman fan... until the whole Civil War/Registration Act sillyness (Bad Tony ! BAADDDD Tony!), and I remember that in the older comics his armors was often damaged and he had to leave fight/ fight with a semi-destroyed armor, while nowadays his second skin seems nearly unbreakable and just a bit on power consumption... About the Fantastic setting I would tell you that an Armor that did get pierced by a bolt or an Axe or Sword will be totally un-usable until reffited by a worksmith... A modular armor can be adjusted to keep some piece but that is all... As far as I know this is the same for bullet proof vest, when pierced they have to been replaced (of course usually the guy inside need replacement too... and first ).
  5. Re: Nano-Gadgeteer Oh.... Dont get the reference, sorry..
  6. Hi, the focus limitation tell that the focus have PD and ED equal to Active Points /5. My question is : when is a Focus hit ? I suppose if it is into a Area of Effect or specifically targeted. But what for Power Armor ? did they take hits with the PC ? Did they take hit before/after him ? Thanks.
  7. Re: HERO Basic Rulesbook : Superhero caract bracket Well the table p126 of Champions says : Low Powered : 12, Standard : 20, High Powered : 25. That is why I found it a bit high, since at 400pts Champions was suggesting a 20 top... I suppose 5 pts isn't a big deal after all but I will need to take attention to what height I put the powers DC... BTW, is it 20-25 without power and gear or with it ?
  8. Re: Nano-Gadgeteer Yes, that is the easier way... but wont it be too cheap a power ? On the other hand I am fairly certain this peculiar player is far too dumb to actually exploit it to any usefull effect...
  9. Hello, some interrogations about the stats bracket suggested for a super hero campaign: 1- The PD/ED are suggested to be in the 20-25 range wich is a lot more than the bracket suggested in Champion 5th Edition. Normal or too much ? 2- Did CV suggestion take skills and power into account or just raw OCV and DCV ? 2- There is no suggestion for END, STUN, BODY and REC... some kind of bracket could really help first timer here... Thanks...
  10. One of my player want a gadgeter that have been imbued with nano-robots, nanites.., and have the ability to transform any device into something usefull to him... The easy part is that this is an obvious gadgeteer pool. The hard part is that I dont have access to anything else than the Basic Rulebook 6th ed and Hero designer right now I also assume the power will be peculiar because : 1- the items he create will last. 2- He will destroy an item to create them. I was thinking about linking the VPP with a Transform power and add a limitation that say the VPP cant be used wihtout a successfull use of Transform, the object created being obviously OAF, the VPP wasn't. I guess this power have a lot of unbalance potential, but with all thoses limitations and the time and endurance cost to use it, perhaps not... What would be a decent amount of Active / Controle points for a 400pts campaign ?
  11. Re: HERO System Basic Rulebook PDF In Store Buyed it, read it, loved it I translated pages 6 to 8 in french for my players and posted them on our club forum (41 members). I forgot to ask you first. Can I let them there or did I have to remove them ?
  12. Re: Teen Stargate Growing old I discovered the ideas I have usually start to appear in reality after a few years... ... this Stargate teen was something I though 4 or 5 years ago but never do anything to exploit... but it sound like a good idea. I didn't known that what Stargate Universe would be about... until yet
  13. Re: Teen Stargate Hum, I think I will exploit the weapon misfire to cause the gate to dial out of the galaxy... It will help explore a new area and introduce ... Furlings Even with advanced technological knowledge they will need to get a very large energy source, not any typical gate would have to be able to translate back to the original galaxy...
  14. Re: Champions Ok, that was convincing enough for me to buy the .pdf waiting for the next edition in paper. And frankly this is a very good buy. For now I only have one grip, as I was translating the hero archetype in french for my player I noticed that, if the Brick is well detailed with historical perspective and example, the more you advance the less the archetype are detailled, the Weaponmaster being singled in just one sentence. For the next edition, perhaps adopting a standard layout for each archetype, with historical and exemple for each one could help... Because, frankly, without the picture it is not evident to assimilate Green Arrow or Wolverine to the description of the Weaponmaster by example...
  15. Hello, a campaign idea I developped as a spinoff of the original serie. The Cast : Rya'c, teal'C son. Cassandra, Samantha adoptiv daughter The Arthiesis, Daniel Jackson son. Yound O'Neill, Jack O'Neill teenager clone. What's happening : After the defeat of Anubis the situation in the galaxy is quiet, Jackson Son is given back to him with no extra knowledge (or just a few) from his assenced past. Rya'c and Youg O'Neill are suprisingly major pain in the ass , such is Cassandra. To ease up and bond, O'Neill(senor) suggest a camping/survival/fishing trip to a lovely wild and deserted planet. Alas, things doesnt go well... at all... and the teenagers separate from the obnoxious grown-up in the idea of building their own camp. That the exact moment the planet is invaded by an unknown forces, isolated and surrounded the teens plan to use the stargate to go back to earth bring reinforcement (they are closer from it than the adult because they steal a identification device and were planning to watch TV and surf the internet ). But there is a problem and the gate got hit, sending them to an unplanned destination and a long way back to earth. O'Neill and Rya'c have good weapon knowledge and tactical. The arthiesys(John ? Ken ? Ryu ? name, pls ?) have martial art knowledge and some kind of healing/insight that he doesnt fully control. Cassandra did still get some mental/psychic abilities. Opinions ?
  16. Re: Champions What about the Stats compatibility between both edition ? will the NPC be totally rewritten or just the value upped to be in adequation with the new cost ?
  17. Re: Champions Can we have a timetable for the release of Champions 6th Ed ? Will it be a reprint with updated stats or a real new book ? In the interim is buying the .pdf of the 5th edition valuable (knowing the NPC stats wont be right) ? or will it be too much dual product ( 6th edition copy paste with new stats ) ? Regards, N.GOUSSET.

  21. Hello, I was designing the vilain complex for next scenario and was thinking on how to describe his feature ( guards, door, securtiy camera, alarm )... I am on the verge about 2 methods : 1- Make stats of everything, using carboards notes I could reuse later on. 2- Device a "Vilain-Complex" template, with each feature as a power or multipower so I can adjust it later. By example, the gardes are multipower(RKa, RA, HtH, Flash, Perception... ) with foci... What method do you thing is best ? I am more inclined on the second as I usually do a lot of improvisation and mastering on the fly and this way I can even use the template in a hurry and with no real map of the location...
  22. Re: The Ten Things I Love About 6e and the Ten Things I hate about 6e Exactly how high could be this barrier ? Also, excuse me being a noob and asking noob question but : Isn't Hero/Champion a design for effect game ? what you describe doesnt sound like a barrier to me but more like a restraining field, perhaps by adding avantage and tweaking it you are in fact using the wrong Power and should switch to another power denominator ? For me a Barrier is something that block/shield an area make passing through it hard/difficult/time consuming. Separating the battlefield in two by setting up a barrier in the middle is fair game. Surrounding 1 opponent by your barrier switched to a bubble doesn't exactly look like the same effect... Should be at last very costly, entirely another effect or a Multipower...
  23. Re: Oyster-Woman "Valves" are what we call the halves of a oyster shell... doesnt know the english equivalent. More Shell power would be good I wasn't sure how she conjurate her shell. I supposed her forms will be somewhat humanoid, if green and slimy with large shell-half into each hand... How do you construct the shell ? is it power ? is it tools ? can a power have HP ?
  24. Re: Oyster-Woman Yeah the character is pertty silly, but it was late at night when we talk about it And I fear my girlfriend would be perfectly aware of all the dirty jokes about it... I am fairly certain she will be the one making a lot of them... Of course it wont be a character for a too serious campaign, but it isn't half that weird... if compared to Foxbat
  25. Hello, my girlfriend want to play this character, possible at your advice ? Origin : While she was swimming by their park she got attacked by a swarm of angry oysters made wilds by the sea pollution. Powers : She Wield the Sea Shell Shield: Can summon a powerfull crustacean shield to protect herself from bullet and rays. Power Clam : Can press an oppponent between her valve for crushing damage. Thunder Clam : Sonic attack by quickly closing her valve, product movement in the water, knockback opponent in front of her. As smart as a Oyster : Contrary to legend, super-intelligence. Oyster Soup : Her body take all the property and color of the oyster wich make her heavily contondant resistante and elastic. Can repulse anyone seeing or smelling her with aggravated effect on super-smell sense : effect from stunning to incapaciting and urge to vomit. Perl Sprouting : She can instantly transform sand into perl. She can then throw the perl for puny damage but creating an area of hazardous movement and drawing around the target a lot of civilian, agents and bystander attracted by the perls. Sticky Foot : Can climb/stick with one foot to any surface, vertical or horizontal. When stuck become unmovable. Woman best friend: Very large reputation with woman and tend to attract a flock of greedy followers. So, can thoses be powers ? BTW I think she could be real trouble for some people, I dont want to be Wolverine against her by example
