  2. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? **shrug** Guess I'll have to keep looking.

  4. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? I'm not enjoying this at all.
  5. Re: Math I was just going to say, "FUD -- Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt"?
  6. Re: 10 Sci-Fi Weapons That Actually Exist The anti-citizen applications are creepy for many of those.

    Nova?

Re: Nova? I didn't think so, but it would have explained what the company wasted all their money on, leading to their failure.

    Nova?

Re: Nova? Are the Iridium sats made of iridium?
  9. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? What I've been trying to dig down to, and asking the wrong question in some posts, is whether the train car is moving or stationary with regard to the motion of the photons from the flash.
  10. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ???
  11. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? The answer given hasn't really been an answer to the actual question.
  12. Re: "Tightening the Curve" on damage I'll take a look at my local shops.
  13. Re: Carl Sagan's Apple Pie Recipe The Science Channel occasionally shows episodes Cosmos. I'm pretty sure I caught at least one instance of Sagan using something very close to that phrase.
  14. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? No, nothing is more clear. You know what, never mind.
  15. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? I'm using "catching up" as shorthand to avoid some other terminology confusion, but that seems inevitable at this point.
  16. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? Not sure what other people want. What I want is an answer to a very basic, simple question.
  17. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ???
  18. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? I'm not looking to debunk Einstein. I want to know whether the train car is "catching up to" the light, or not.
  19. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? When did I say that?
  20. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? Is the train car catching up with the light, or not?
  21. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? I've never said that GPS sats don't work, nor do I believe any such thing.
  22. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? The bone of contention is that the example claims that the train car is moving relative to the light, and is not moving relative to the light, at the same damn time.
  23. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? It's not as if they'll provide something that's not provided here or in the sources I've looked up online.
  24. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? Then the train car example we've been discussing is a terrible and inaccurate example.
  25. Re: Instantaneous Communications plus Time Dilation Equals ??? But according to the oft-mentioned example that kicked this all off, there's still the issue of the same damn photon doing different things depending on where you're watching it from, a crazy-quilt / house-of-mirrors effect.
