  1. I'm not saying I don't write up my villains, I'm just saying I don't spend hours trying to figure out exactly how a weird power works, point-by-point. And no villain I've ever created has been unbeatable (in fact, most of them turn out to be a great deal more beatable than I had intended). I do make sure I know exactly what they are capable of, especially attacks and defenses, but just beacause I understand how the powers work doesn't mean I have to be able to show it on paper usingthe rules system. Make sense?
  2. I have the same question as Zed-F. I'm slightly familiar with the CU, but I would have to know much more than I do to create a character that deeply embedded into it.
  3. Hmmm.......... Interesting idea. The Blue Sphinx..... I think I like it. Have to kick around some alternate costume ideas now.........Hmmm, Egyptian...............
  4. The graetest compliment I ever paid to one particular GM was when I called him an "evil f***ing ba**ard." A rare statement from me.
  5. Scared to fight her sounds about right to me. If I was GM for that group, not only would that be my assessment, but I would come right out and ask the players, "What? Are you just too scared to take her on? Sissies:) ."
  6. Sorry it took so long. Yeah, hijacking indeed. ANYWAY.... one thing I probably should have mentioned earlier is that he'll still be using the same name he used before the modifications. So, anything playing off his new, superhuman abilities really wouldn't work. I hadn't really thought of giving all his gadgets a "theme," but if I come up with a name that works well with it, then I might. As for javelins, trick arrows, etc., I'm deliberatly avoiding such things. I haven't decided on his costume yet, thinking that a good name would help inspire a costume design. Thanks for most of the input, everyone (the porn names were slightly entertaining, but not really useful. Besides, I think that formula only works with women. If I ever get into adult film-making, I'm going to call myself Buck Naked:D ). Right now, I'm thinking I may go with a generic name like The Blue Avenger. Any other thoughts?

    Name Help

I need help coming up with a name for a character I have had in my head all day. All suggestions appreciated. This character has been active for a few years as a gadgeteer/martial artist. Always considered (even by himself) as a second-string superhero. Recently, during his latest battle with Dr. Alchemus, he was accidentally injected with nano-tech performance enhancers. These have raised all his physical characteristics to slightly super-human levels (25-35 range for most). Now, he is finally first-string, and ready to take on the baddest of the bad. Personality: DC's Blue Beetle, but more serious than he's currently portrayed. Powers: Martial Arts, gadgets, super-human physical abilities. Fighting-Style: Acrobatic and non-lethal. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  8. Re: Just for fun... Good Gawd! That's better than half the guys working at DC right now! Are you a proffessional? If not, you should be.
  9. Re: TV Teen Titans A) I've seen it, and it's alright but could be much better. Don't have time to do write-ups. C) Yes, it's Tim, who is now leading the newest comic-book incarnation of the Teen Titans. D) I want Kid-Flash, Wonder Girl, and Superboy!!
  10. Well, to me, performing "grotesque experiments" on people "just to see what happens," is far more villainous than robbing a bank.
  11. Hate to disagree, but I would say she IS a villain.
  12. I'm always having thoughts about the nurse, but they can't be printed on a family-friendly forum.
  13. Ooooh, what a plethora! Just want to say that evryone posting in this thread far outdoes anything I could come up with. I will be stealing..um, I mean borrowing... many images for my games. If and when the time comes.
  14. These are great! The closest I've ever down was a Japanese guy called The Animaster. He could bring anything from animation to life and make it do his bidding. His favorite was Robotech Veritech Fighters. Never bothered with stats for him, as he was just a plot device and the only real threat was his creations. I did give his power the limits that he must be watching something when he brought it to life, and the creations dissapeared after they were defeated. If I was running him right now, I would take the opportunity to sic Stitch on my hapless PCs.
  15. Okay Both JimOz and Assault have good points. I was not taking into account the idea that the liason might be someone like Arsenal. Still, it seems like Bruce is trusing an aweful lot of people to run around underneath his house. Does the group know his ID? If not, how does he keep them from finding out?
  16. I've run a few first-heroes games. The main problem I've had is figuring out why the government doesn't deal more harshly with these new powers in the world. Of course, it all depends on the PCs and what they do. Of course, I've also played in a couple of those games, and I find it's very important that the whole group agrees on just how public they're going to go before you get started. I had one character leave a group because he wanted to be more open with his powers and everyone else wanted to stay in the shadows. So, he left the group (with no hard feelings, and a promise to help them if they ever needed him) and I brought in a new PC who was more in-line with the groups attitude.
  17. Etc., etc. If anything, this is the one problem I've always had with Champions. GMs give their villains a really cool ability, and then feel the need to figure out exactly how, in game mechanics, it works. He's an NPC! He absorbs energy blasts from the surrounding area BECAUSE THE GM SAYS SO! Sorry, I just get bogged down in the mathematics of the Hero system sometimes, and long for the simpler days of the original Marvel Superheroes RPG.
  18. I would still have a HUGE problem with ANY liason being allowed into the cave. Batman is just not that trusting of government types (and considering the corruption that existed in the Gotham PD when he started out, with good reason). Unless this is the late Golden Age/ early Silver Age version of Batman. Also, there are a lot of magicians associating with someone who hates magic (it's possibly the only thing completely outside of his realms of knowledge and control). But, it's your game, and that's just my 1/50th of a dollar.
  19. Possibly How about The Green Knight? Owing to his knighthood and nature-based powers. Plus, he may even have been the Green Knight from Arthurian legend (would explain why he was working with Morgana).
  20. Thank you! That has driven me nuts for years, and I've never been able to find anyone who knew.
  21. Re: Re: What is 0.1c? Something I've always wondered: Energy measured in what and Mass measured in what? I mean, energy measured in watts to mass measured in tons in very different from enrgy measured in joules and mass measured in ounces. See what I mean?
  22. Have you ever read The DC "Elseworlds" limited series (two or three issues, I can't remember exactly) "Act of God?" It deals with all the super-powered heroes and villains of ther DC Universe loosing their powers. Of course, all the high-tech stuff still works (at least for a while), and guys like Batman and Green Arrow become even more prominent. One thing I really liked, though, (and this might be an ideqa for your campaign) is that formerly-powered heroes begin training under Batman, so that they can continue doing what they do even without their powers.
  23. True, but................ But they would definitly want some kind of mask. And perhaps even a costume that establishes a certain identity in people's minds, so as to divert attention from their real selves. Did that last bit make sense? Also, I can see certain types of criminals using costume designed to intimidate their victims, just as many street-level heroes do.
  24. Great minds think alike I had a very similar idea recently. I thnk if you tell your players what you're looking for, they'll probably come up with their own reasons to keep their powers secret. As for not having to pay points for normal equipment, how do you define "normal?" How many of Batman's "bat-gadgets" would count as normal? Knock-out gas pellets? Night-vision contact lenses? Bat-shaped shuriken? As for villains having secret identities, this also makes sense in certain situations, if you think about it. Humble legitimate business-man Wilson Fisk doesn't want anyone finding out he's also the Kingpin of Crime. Perhaps Bullseye has a wife and kids somewhere, and doesn't want them to know where all his money's coming from? Villains can have all the same reasons as heroes for hiding their real name and/or face. Of course, this only applies until the villain goes to jail for the first time (if you can prove he is the guy behind that mask). Then his id becomes public, but he might keep the old alias as a nick-name.
  25. If it was me.... Which it isn't, but if it was I wouldn't use a pocket-universe in the Batcave. That strikes me very much as more of a Fortress of Solitude kind of thing. Speaking of which, I assume there is no Superman in this version? As for stuff in the cave, the giant penney, the deactivated robot tyrannosaurous (sp?), the computer, and lots of bats are must-haves. On the other hand, I have to assume the team will not be opperating out of the cave, with all these liasons attached to it. No way would Batman ever allow that many government-affiliated people in the Batcave.
