  1. But don't most game systems charge you something for skills? Be it character points, skill slots or something? You can always make that one of the character's Everyman skills.
  2. Palladium gets it Rifts, from what I've seen. I've seen alot ot Tri Stat haters, though, but I don't frequent any Tri stat disucssion boards. I never said Hero was the only system that gets this treatment. I just wondered why it did...
  3. I like Hero. I don't think its a perfect system or anything like that, but I feel its a damn good one thats stood up to the test of time. So why is there such hate directed at it online? I see it attacked with a frequency that seems to rival d20 hate. People actually go out of their way to slam Hero, sometimes to a truly ludicrous extreme.
  4. Lets say a character gets an energy blast at Variable Special effects:Any. Will the defense that the damage is applied against be changed from PD to ED and vice versa based on the changing special effect?
  5. I don't know. I kind of like it. You have to admit, it would be surprising.
  6. How about a connection between Mechanon and Bender? They both want to kill all humans.
  7. Strange Love This is the weirdest thing that's happened in a game I was gming and it was totally without any planing on my part. I was gming a team between two characters from different, but linked campaigs, Black Widow and Spider Queen. Both were female, spider themed martial artists who even bore a coincidental physical rememblance to each other. So I decided to make them long lost sisters. During this adventure they would uncover the ancient Spider cult responsible for their birth and powers. Little did I see the character...falling in love. And becoming intimate. And there was nothing I could do to stop it without ruining the mystery which had been building for awhile. And, to be honest, part of me found it hysterically funny. I have to admit the look on the player's faces when it came out in the end was priceless too.
  8. Predator:Is already a "furry" Nexus:A black panther Tao:A tigeress
  9. Hm, this is fun! Evil Tao:Simple enough, her villianous creator didn't abandon her before she was decanted so she's "raised" the proper super villian. She's probably got the attitude of a spoiled child and incredibly arrogant about her array of powers and ability to anaylze her opponents. Insufferably superior and petty Evil Nova:Rich, and weilding the Power Cosmic, she's used to instant gratification and accept nothing else. Sees most being as pawns and toys to slake her whims and need for control. Still wants to unite humanity, but under her terms since her "father's" more liberal views got him killed. Evil Knighthawk:Born in Japan, as a half breed he suffered constant torment and harrasment. He focussed his rage into martial arts, and vents his frustation by hurting people. Badly. Enjoys his family buiness as assasins for hire on a very personal level. Evil Andromeda:Easy. Nazi super trooper with all the trappings. Likely an advance scout of an upcoming invasion. Evil Predator:Her inital transformation lead her to kill her family in a fit of beastial rage, driven half insane from the pain. Coming to her senses soaked in the gore that used to her family killed what was left of her sanity. Now on the run, she lives for the hunt and the kill. A pure beastial predator with little of her humanity left...
  10. Nexus wouldn't like exist or would have died early in a laboratory (born a black mutant). -If- she somehow survived would be a militant member of the Resistance. Andromeda, an an extra dimensional "Nazi' herself, would be horrified by this "perversion" of her cause and assist the Resistance (long story). Nova:A genetic experiment that likely would have been twisted to the Reich's cause. Knighthawk:Black Japanese, likely wouldn't exist. Predator:likely would have been co opted to serve the Reich at an early age where her feral instincts and animal nature would have been cultivated more than the her humanity so she'd be a savage "Law of the Jungle" type killer. Perhaps the pet of high ranking party member. Tao:Wouldn't exist, the circumstances that created her are unlikely to happen. She might have an analog in a Nazi genetics experiment to create the ultimate super soldier. Velocity:Wouldn't exist or was disssected an early age being a negro mutant
  11. These threads are alot of fun. But is there anyway to actually settle them objectively? Even if we had stats they'd have to be ones everyone could agree on and that would happen about 10 minutes after Satan ice skated to work. The conditions of the battle would have to be agreed on as well. It really depends on who's hype you want to beleive. IN one issue a character is all but invulnerable, in another they're taken out by a punk with a blaster pistol.
  12. I don't mind religous villians or heroes as long as it not totally lopsided. Christianity tends to get that treatment I've noticed with every Christian group being fanatical conservative zealots or out and out psychos. I'm not a Christian, but I don't think its fair at all.
  13. Now this is a cool thread. I hope someone tackles a Golden Age Authority.
  14. Iron Age as in modern. But that second one sounds kind of cool too.
  15. I was curious if anyone has ever run a straight Iron Age Champions campaign. If so, how did it go?
  16. Pax was in the Project Utopia sourcebook. Divis was featured in the Teragen book. You got more information about both of them in Aberrant Worldwide:Phase 1 where they fight. You never do get many hard "stats" for them, just a general suggestion. Telekinsis/Kinetic control "brick" powers for Pax, Mal...well any power he wants essentially.
  17. I have a player that wants to use Duplication to build what amounts to a centaur. The character's upper and lower torso's would be the "duplicates". They're aren't seperate indentandly acting body parts, such as hydra's heads. This seems to over extending the power since a great deal of things would have to be handwaved. More than I am comfortable with for what seems to be an abusive construct. BTW:I did suggest the knockback thing posed in the first "monster question" thread, but more to illustrate some of the ridiculous situations this construct would bring up.
  18. I understand, didn't mean to come off argumentative. I was agreeing. He's a monster.
  19. I was going to try Divis Mal as the first character, but the more I look at him the less likely that becomes. He's less a character and more a plot device.
  20. I'm planning to convert some Aberrant characters to Fifth Edition, basically as an excerise. I was wondering if there are any guidelines for this or does anyone have any suggestions?
  21. Ah, maybe thats what set people off. That is a typo. I meant "I would not deny his experiences." In other words, I'm not going to sit here and say you're games haven't gone well with the change as you say. My apologies.
  22. But lets say "getting more for paying more" is not a good principle you accept. I can still, after one round of this, pick up something i can throw, possibly something large and area effectish and hurl it at you. IF your Gm allows you to call up a held phase to move out of the way, making that somehow automatically make me miss, then the issue you may be having there has nothing to do with attack-move but with how held actions are done... since the same thing would occur if attack-move were illegal. All in all, you standing off and not attacking does not seem to me to be a problem. Thanks anyway. If you have higer dex and good dodge and all those things, its because you PAID for them. You got wehat you paid for. Is it NOTICEABLY easier for me to kick you because you cannot attack then move? If you are more speedy than i and have more actions, cannot you just time your approach and retreat even in an ATTACK-MOVE_ILLEGAl ruleset? Wont me holding action be an answer either way? Boogeyman, not fact. [/b] Some snippage above. There is such a thing as getting too much for what you paid for, IMO. If you don't share that opinion thats fine. You already get a great deal for Dexterity and Speed already, using the attack then move seems to give more than its worth. As I said, you can pick up something. If there is something to pick up. Its likely going to be a large unweildy object at best and since sunk alot of points into strength, you won't be throwing it that well. I can Dive for Cover at the very least, and with my high dex and great move which I paid for I'll problably succeed. There's a chance of failure, but its ususally fairly slim in my experience. In short, I think that rule makes Dexterity and Move more effective than its cost warrants. Generally, if you want to be so much faster than you opponent you can dance around them before they can act, you buy more Speed which is quite expensive. What I pointed out is a fairly cheap trick that can be easily done with that rules change. If thats not something that you thiunk is a problem, cool but I don't get the attitude I'm picking up. We're discussing a game. Why get insulting and snide? I haven't come across that why, have I?
  23. You're a brick so I presume no ranged attacks and no (Or not much) enhanced movement. Lets say I have a Half move of 15 (good for speedster) I don't move up to punch you. I wait for you to come to me, holding myt action, attack youn and move away, moving to you full move distance. You have to spend another phase to close with me. Since I am faster, I hold again, attack you and move away, repeat. Since iniative in Hero is fixed, there is no chance you can hit me before I move away once you've moved up to get into HTH range. We could end up dancing around all day like that. Now, there are ways around this but it would be, at the least, annoying. You have to have be able to grab me and objects of convience to pick up and throw are not alway so convient and I'm a Speedster, I probably have a very high DCV and movement with high odds of diving for cover. Now, "Unbeatable" might have been hyberbole on my part, but it was very effective at the least.
