  1. Re: Which villain needs an overhaul? I'll wait for the video, "Villains Gone Wild".
  2. Just out of curiousity, what are some of the "international" heroes that you guys use in your games?
  3. Re: Are the 5th edition heroes to weak? Thanks KB, I'll take a look, I'm not sure how powerful the various characters are in GC, but I'd like to see someone like Thor, or Orion in the current CU.
  4. Re: Are the 5th edition heroes to weak? LL I agree with what you're saying. , and don't have a problem with people who don't want to see more powerful NPCs, that's thier choice. Everyone has their own particular tastes and desires, but I for one would like to see them. I really do think there's a market for more powerful heroes out there. I think it would be interesting to see how many others feel that way. Why not survey the board members or the subscribrs to DH, to see if it would be finicially feasible for them to publish the material? Say as a completely seperate source book, with advice for running more powerful PCs and NPCs. They don't have to be part of the official CU, it could be an alternate universe. If enough people request it, they just may think about putting something together, or include the material in one of the upcoming books already on the publishing schedule. If people don't like it, just don't pick it up. If all else fails, I just may put something together for DH (any assistance would be greatly appriciated).
  5. Re: Are the 5th edition heroes to weak? I agree with you to a certain extent. If it gets to the point that you feel there are just to many heroes running around, then just don't use them. It's the same option you ave with the various villains. But, at least give me the option of not using them. I would at least like to have the option of choosing to us a more powerful group of heroes or deciding that they don't fit in with my "vision" of how things should be. The Champions are fine and dandy, if that's the route you choose to go, but they shouldn't be the only game in town. I like a little variety, some options to choose from. Yeah, I can come up with my own NPC group, but half the fun of this setting down and taking a look at how they envsion the various characters populating the CU.
  6. Re: Every Good Golden Age Supers Campaign Needs: Villains who's names start with Doc, Dr, or Professor (Dr. Nefarious). Fanatical Nazi henchmen. "Der Aryan" or "General _ fill in the blank" and he's got to have a monocle. Female NPCs who are more of a plot device than anything else. Evil Asian crime lords (Dr. Woo) A vast criminal conspiracy that's infiltrated the government. Some "super science" (Johnny Thunder and his fantastic "Rocket Plane") or "Tick Tock: The Clock Works Man" and his robotic army of "Tin Men") Official hero fan clubs complete with "secret decoder rings.
  7. Re: Teen Champion Review: Frosty Maybe I missed it, but what's the name of the school?
  8. Re: Are the 5th edition heroes to weak?
  9. Re: Which villain needs an overhaul? The only one I've really tinkered with is Firewing (I re-wrote part of his background story, so it was more to my liking). At the moment I'm playing around with PSI. As far as the "Master villains" go, I've never really been a big fan of any of the official villains. Dr. D is okay, but other than that, I really don't like any of them. Ecspecially the Warlord and his crew and Mechanon has never clicked for me.
  10. Of all the current CU villains, who needs a revision (background, motivations, powers, whatever)? Also, which one of older villains would you like to see make a come back?
  11. Re: Adventure Modules Any chance that some of the older material could be updated to 5th edition?
  12. Re: Are the 5th edition heroes to weak? Yeah, I just looked over the two previews. Any chance you could give us a sneak peak and the basic concepts (that is without giving away info you plan on using in a future article).
  13. Re: Are the 5th edition heroes to weak? That's my point. You would think that their would be one or two big guns out there capable of taking on Dr. D, Mechanon, etc. While there's nothing wrong with the Champions, I'd like to see an official write for a team with a little more juice. Almost forgot, I know there's a list of the various heroes running around the CU, anyone got the link?
  14. Re: Are the 5th edition heroes to weak? IMHO, and don't take this the wrong way, if you're worried about a high power NPC group overwhelming your group, don't use them. I'd just like to see an NPC hero group that's got a little more muscle to it. So I'd like to see what type of "official" team they decide to publish. If I feel motivated, I just may take a crack at creating a group myself or two myself. And I think I'll give DH # 31 a look see.
  15. It may just be me, but do the 5th ed. heroes seem a little weak compared to the various villains out there? Personally, I'd like to see a group capable of firmly putting a boot in EUROSTAR's behind.
  16. Re: Adventure Modules I know Guardians of Order has put out a couple of modules for their SAS supers game (although I'm not a fan of thier tri-stat or D20 systems). I picked up the first one, and liked it. Pretty good book for only $10. I haven't seen their second module yet, so I can't comment on it. As far as other companies go, depending on what type of material is presented, I could go for a series of modules, say with one being released a quarter. I'd also like a mix material, say a Sci-fi adventure (deep space or alien invasion), something envolvong the occult or magic (possibly envolving DEMON), the standard slug fest (a new villain group or reintroduction of one of the old groups like the Horsemen), or a mystery (a GOOD murder mystery). It does't have to be a massive book, as long as it was 24-32 pgs., had a solid premise, some decnet villains to take on, and a couple of maps. I'd pay $10-15 for it. If it's still to expensive to produce, I could go for it as a PDF.
  17. Re: Adventure Modules You can order them online. I'll post the link when I get home.
  18. Re: Let's hear it for villainous organizations Hmmm... well in addition to MERC, I'm working on Purity. An international terrorist organization dedicated to “purifying” the human race (no mutants, aliens, super beings, etc.). Several prominent politicians and businessmen secretly back its agenda, providing it with covert support. America First - A right wing terrorist group dedicated to keeping America safe for "real Americans". It attacks immigrants, foreign companies operating in the US, etc. It utilizes a number of metahuman operatives that have the same beliefs, including: Patriot (a former soldier and white supremacist kicked out the army for his raciest beliefs), Purge (a mentally ill mutant that thanks he‘s on a mission from God to save the county from Godless heathens), and Warhawk (a heavily armed cyborg, and the son of a rich industrialist). It operates out of a paramilitary encampment in Idaho, called “The Bunker”.

Re: Merc So, what do the rest of you guys think? Would it work for your campaign? Ideas for improvement? How about throwing me a bone?

    Merc

Re: Merc I'm thinking it would take at least several adventures to trace where these guys are coming from, with everything leading to a big raid on one of their facilities. Then I figure they would lay low for a while before poping up again. Sort of like Task Master and his training operation.
  23. Re: The Bureau of Special Investigations - long Thanks once again. I'll eventually get around to some equipment and base write-ups, and if I get a chance ( and feel really motivated) a map or two. I'm working on a history for them, and have gotten up to WWII. I figure they started off as part of the FBI, and eventually branched off into their own agency.

    Merc

Here's one more of my little creations. Ever wonder where your favorite villain hires his gun toting thugs? The answer is MERC. It's a company that recruits, trains, equips, and supplies mercenaries to anyone. As with the last two entries, it was designed for M&M, but can be used with any Superhero RPG. Military Enterprises & Research Corporation M.E.R.C. MERC is an offshore holding company for several international private security firms and military contractors providing specialized security services to international corporations, governments, and VIPs, or at least that's what they advertise. In reality they provide, highly trained, heavily armed muscle to anyone who's will to pay their price. (It's where many of the world's criminal organization recruit their armies of henchmen from.) Persons, or organizations, wishing to make use of their services can be sure they will pay a hefty fee. Once their identity has been confirmed, through a long vetting process, a contract for services is negotiated and recruitment for their client begins. MERC primarily recruits personnel with prior military, or paramilitary experience. Over the last few year, many of their recruits have come from eastern Europe, or from the former Soviet Union. INTERPOL believes many of these recruits to be former elite troops such Soviet VDV paratroopers, or Spetsnaz special operations soldiers drawn in by the promise of high pay and the chance to put the skills they have learned to use. In addition to providing routine foot soldiers, MERC also maintains a small cadre of power armored troopers. These troops are specially selected and trained in the use of their “Enforcer” power armor, and are trained to work in teams of five. Their current commander is the German mercenary, Warhead, who laid out the design specs for the suits. Both he and Ram Rod conceived the Enforcer troopers training program, and continue to refine it as they receive after action reports from the field. In addition to their Enforcer power armor, MERC troops are equipped with some of the latest in hi-tech weaponry (purchased from the Foundry). MERC’s troops receive some of the finest training money can by, with several former special forces members, and the super villain Ramrod, acting as their instructors. To ensure that captured troops can't or won't revel any information about their employers, a telepathic block and several hypnotic suggestions are placed within their minds. If captured and forced to talk, the block will stop all but the most powerful mind probes, and the suggestions will force them to forget everything since their employment. At various times throughout its history MERC's Special Operations Division has made use of super powered operatives including the villainsSalvo, Deadeye, and Hammer, when they have deemed necessary. Although it’s also rumored that the cyborg assassin, Steel Wolf (A former operative of the KGB's Al'fa special operations unit, who now sells his services for profit.) was also once in their employ. MERC's R&D division has been the target of several infiltration attempts by Prometheus. They're extremely interested in a number of power armor and weapon designs recently fielded by the group. As a result, MERC's Board of Directors is seriously considering a series of surgical strikes at Prometheus' ruling Council, mostly targeted assassinations. The overall operation has a working codename of, Operation Stranglehold. How it will work out has yet to be seen, but law enforcement officials can be assured it will be bloody. Another recent thorn in their side, has been the formation of the Orion Security Services, a private firm providing a specialist metahuman services, for a fee. Many of its employees are prior members of various government metahuman programs, and unlike MERC, they will only accept contracts for work they feel is on the up and up. Known MERC subsidiaries include: Strategic Security Services, International (S3I) - A Canadian based "security" company, with offices in the US, the UK, and a private “firearms” training facility, called Battle Site, in Idaho. Battle Site (“Providing quality training for the prepared citizen.”) masquerades as a civilian and private security training facility. Operated by S3I, it's operation provides MERC with a cover story when conducting paramilitary or weapons training. Its also managed to turn a nice little profit, since 9/11, by actually providing firearms training to unsuspecting civilian customers. Command & Control (C2) - A South African consulting firm that provides "trainers" and "advisors" to foreign militaries. The company currently operates out of a small office building in Johannesburg, with a satellite office in Pretoria.
  25. Re: The Bureau of Special Investigations - long Thanks for the compliments. I'm still working on a background, and other details to help flesh it out. What kind of info would you guys want to see included? Write ups on the training facilites? Agent packages? Equipment?
