Thank you!  I will certainly be posting some originals but I want to exhaust the ones that I have done for Champions first.  Here are a couple of Solo Supervillains, Dragon Master and Bulldozer.

For the past several years I have run a lot of different games in various genres.  As a result have collected a HUGE number of HeroMachine images that I use for counters in my games.  I thought it was about time that I start sharing them with others.  Otherwise they are mostly just taking up space on my server, right?  Some of these are pics of published Champions characters so if there are any copyright issues please let me know and I will immediately remove them.  Others are original creations and you can just take what you want and have some fun with them.  If you aren't already using it, I highly recommend using Heromachine for those that want to create, relatively, quick and easy pics.  I personally use HM3 which has a steeper learning curve but use whichever version works best for you.  I have become relatively competent with it over the years but I guess I will leave that up to you.

Let me know what you think and if this is well received I will share more...

Without further ado....here are The Ultimates...

The lighting in the corridor was dimmed for the evening. Normally the lighting would adjust when someone was present, courtesy of Mentor. Normally, but it was always dark in Sharon's world. Ever since the explosion that rendered her blind.

Stopping outside of Jason's door she caught a whiff of pine wood. Not uncommon if Jason had recently stretched a bit of canvas. That was one thing, among thousands, that Sharon missed about not being able to see. Even as a young teen, Jason had the raw talent with drawing and painting. She could only dream what his refined talent could turn out now. She smiled sadly to herself.

“Let me in, Mentor,” she said. The door opened quietly and she stepped inside. Heat and humidity came at her from the bathroom door. The scent of soap lingered, overlaying the smell of Jason's sweat. Sharon could only assume he had worked out, showered and changed.

There was also a stronger smell of pine and machine oil. Her senses reached out. Jason's easel was folded and leaning against a wall. There was a crate standing near where he preferred to exercise his hobby.

"Witches,” she heard Jason say quietly. “Witches. Are warlocks male witches? Or are male witches just witches?” This was followed by a sigh. “Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.”

She had the impression of Jason standing by a window. In her mind's eye Jason's reflection was garbed for battle. His forehead leaning on a balled fist pressed against the glass. In his free hand Jason held a paintbrush. The bristles moved across the glass. Had there been paint on it, Sharon had no doubt a face would be on the window. “You asked,” Sharon said. “I'm here. How was your trip? Did you find what you were looking for?”

“No,” he answered quietly. “He found me. Hello, Sharon.”

“He? And what's this about witches?”

Jason kept staring out the window. “He called himself Phil Actery.”

“That's a strange...Phil Actery? Phylactery?” Sharon smiled to herself. “Intending as a charm or safeguard against harm. Where did you find him?”

“Like I said,” Jason quietly said with a shrug of his shoulders, “he found me. Met him outside of Québec City.” Tossing the paintbrush like a dart into a cup with many others, Jason turned to Sharon. “Are you hungry? Would you like something to drink?”

“I had dinner with some friends. What do you have to drink?” she asked, sitting down on the couch.

Making his way to a small cabinet, Jason opened it. “Coffee, various flavors. Hot tea, again various flavors.” Sharon heard another cabinet door open. “Wine,” Jason said quietly. “There's wine. White, red, rosette. Looks like Marlene was collecting bottles.”

Hearing the tone in his voice gave Sharon pause. “Jason, are you okay?”

“I'll survive, Sharon. That's was I'm best at. A HERO slayer couldn't kill me. The Blood Guard couldn't kill me. The Tharian Elite Guard couldn't kill me. Their pet gladiators failed. I survive. It seems like the only damned thing I do is survive.

    “So, wine?”

So, the pic of Medusa as a super hero didn’t quite meet Death Tribble’s request.  I missed the part that she was to be a patriotic super hero.  So I did another version, but I admit, I was pretty subtle with the flag motif on her outfit.  DT wanted it to be pushed a bit more and I came up with the final version for him.  I will present all three for your viewing curiosity.  Showing that sometimes, you have to sneak up on a concept.

Also, I did a crossbowman for yuks.  I had doodled him awhile ago.

    Version 2.

Here's the latest addition for the Knights Templar: SUNDER.  I did this one a bit different, I found a 36 color gel ink set at the dollar store...so I tried to see what I could do with them.  The pic was quite large on a piece of bristol board, so I had to scan like four angles and rotate, cut and paste the pic together.  Turned out alright...a few light distortions.  Here goes:

Here are a couple of concepts I have done for Death Tribble.

We have Sea Slug and Ghost Train.  I will let you guess which one is which.

I am pretty happy with how both of these turned out, there is something really fun with dealing with color in a very non-comic book way, ie, no real inked lines, but still reading as a comic book concept.  The original of Sea Slug didn't have any inked lines, I actually came in AFTER the color and did those digitally with Manga Studio 5.  About the only program I can even approach a decent ink job with.  I have a really hard time inking with Photoshop or Painter, but Manga Studio 5 does the trick for me.

Jason closed the door behind Michael after making sure the man made it safely into his truck. They heard the engine catch and the tires crunch snow when he headed down the lane he had plowed on his way up.

“Why did he say not to wander?” Theresa asked.

Leah smiled. “Lions and tigers and bears, oh, my,” she sang. Theresa gave her a funny look.

“More like 'mountain lions and wolves and bears', but the idea is the same. This is a wilderness area, Theresa. In the winter food is sometimes scarce and the cats and wolves will hunt people if they're hungry enough,” Jason explained.

“Oh,” she said quietly. “What happens now?”

“Now?” Jason looked at her for a long moment. “Now, how about a bath? It must have been a while since you've had a real chance to clean up.”

She gave him a grateful look. “Too long.”

“Leah, why don't you pull stuff out for dinner while I get her settled?”

Leah gave him an amused questioning look. “My weekend. Remember? I'm not cooking.”

“Didn't say you were. I just asked that you get stuff out so I can cook.”

“Well, I suppose I can do that much,” she said, turning to open the refrigerator.

Jason led Theresa down the hall to the bath room. She held her bag with both hands tight against her body. “I don't have anything to wear,” she said despondently. “Everything I have with me is dirty. Until earlier, this shirt and jeans were in the best shape. Now...”

Stopping to look at her, Jason said gently, “One thing at a time. Okay? First, we get you cleaned up so that you feel better.” He stepped into the bathroom with Theresa in tow.

“That's a big tub,” she said quietly. The bathtub looked like it could accommodate five of her. Jason smiled.

Pulling towels and washcloth from a linen closet, he said, “When you're older, you might understand why.”

Looking confused for a moment, Theresa looked at him for a long moment. “Oh!” she exclaimed, blushing. She looked around for a moment. “Where's the door?”

“Ah, a friend of mine got a little carried away. She didn't realize her own strength.” He went out into the hall from where Theresa heard a door open, and then a few seconds later, close. Jason reappeared with a wolf throw hanging from a rod. He set the rod into hooks above the door. “There's soap and shampoo in the cabinet there. Pick your flavor.”

Theresa opened the indicated door. “There's so many different kinds.”

“Lots of female friends with different preferences,” he said by way of explanation. “Run the water to your liking. I'll see what I can find for you to wear.” He slipped from the room, allowing the curtain to fall into place.

Looking at her reflection in the mirror, Theresa said, “He's not what I expected.” She took a closer look at herself. Her hair was lank and dirty. Her face, while cleaner than it had been in the bar, was still a far cry from being fresh. Her fingers traced the cut in her shirt. Tears stung her eyes. “It's just a stupid shirt,” she said quietly. She pulled it over her head and tossed it next to her bag. Fingers wiped at her eyes.

Sitting on the edge of the tub, she said, “I like it hot. Not too hot.” She reached for spigot. Water running; tested for temperature, Theresa shucked her jeans off. Those she lay on the counter and took in the long cut in the leg. She checked her bare leg and saw a light scratch running up where the knife had passed through the denim. Seeing it and realizing it was there made it start to ache.

Jason's hand passed by the curtain and set sweat pants, shirt and socks on the counter. Theresa squeaked. “You okay?” he asked.

Giggling to relieve tension, Theresa said, “You startled me.”

“I'm sorry. Set your clothes here by the door before you get in the tub. I'll collect them in a few minutes and we'll get your stuff cleaned up as best I can. Okay?”

“Yeah, sure, I guess. Is it okay if I...”

“Anything you like, Theresa. As long as it doesn't involve anyone breaking a law.”

At last it can be revealed!

At last it can be revealed! I took advantage of some free time in ace artist Eric Lofgren's schedule earlier this year to get him to create a beautiful piece of art that I currently intend to use as the cover of Mythic Hero. He took my idea and executed it superbly.

I don't have a finished book. I don't have any specific idea for how I'll publish the book when it is finished. But man, do I have a kick-ass cover.

Well folks.  I'm at that rare crossroads of not having much work.  My schedule is wide open.  So, if you have private commissions you've always wanted to have done... let me know.  Or if you are a publisher or art director and have projects that I would be use for, please contact me.  Storn.Cook@gmail.com

I just found out that I'm doing a follow up to John Wick's Wield cover.  So I am excited about that!

And I got some images together for another clip art portfolio for LPJ Designs.  Some of the artwork is from a passion project of mine of doing a really high quality art for a fantasy web comic.  So.  I've been exploring some media and techniques to be able to do quality, yet make it fast enough that I can justify playing and not making money on it.  The below is one example of water color pencils (once drawn, you can add water and smear it around) with a bit of watercolor (just grays) on top of it.  Then digitally colored.  Louis over at LPJ even picked it to be the cover of this particular clip art collection.

It is a fun technique for me, something fresh, as opposed to just doing pencil, then digital...because it becomes a bit more about shape than just line.  Something I'm really interested in pushing, as my comic book past is so strong and the art is SO much about line.

Anyhoo... here is the link to the Portfolio:  http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/130508/Image-Portfolio-Platinum-Edition-30-Storn-Cook?src=sub

And here is the art:  Tal on the Run!

Next up, Death Tribble was still interested in another Manta Ray, but this time, not a techno suit, but an organic monstrosity as villain.  Which was really cool to do a variant of something I had just done recently.  This was also watercolor pencils and watercolors plus digital...
    Manta Ray 2

Next up are a couple of entries into TenTon Studios weekly challenge.  I thought this one was particularly clever.  "What IF Geiger had been the art director behind Star Wars?"  What a cool mash up.  So, here are my doodles imagining such a thing....
    Princess Leia via Geiger

Three ladies and a.. a.. what.

I got a really nice commission and a nice letter from a dad who was commissioning his daughter’s character, Ocean Princess, from their regular mutants and masterminds game.  She is 9 years old.  The dad said that they often use pics that i’ve posted over on the Green Ronin boards for their characters.

    So, here is the pic:

Next up, I did another Death Tribble commission, this time a victorian lady with what he called a “tricked up parisol”.  So, this is what i came up with, going for a femme fatale vibe.

Then I got a chance to do a Star Trek commission…not something I do all that often.

Lastly, this is a wee sketch, still trying out watercolor pencil, playing with digital watercolor on multiply layers.  This is something from a web comic idea that is slowly gestating in me head.  Hopefully, more to come…

First off, John Wick's Wield kickstarter is off and running today!!!  And it already has met 2 of its stretch goals as I write this.  It seems like a really cool little game where you play an artifact, like Stormbringer, instead of "human" protagonist like Elric.  I posted the cover art before, but will do it again, as well as two of the interiors I did for the book.
Here is the link to the Wield kickstart:  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2006204732/wield-a-little-game-about-ancient-powers

And here is the cover and interiors:

Next up is a new project for me.  I call it the bugs and drugs.  I'm working with Mitreos development and this is a Kickstarter project that already was successful before I was called in.  The idea is to take various viruses and illness as well as beneficial drugs and such, and make a fantasy world out of them.  So, for example, I was called upon to do Streptomycin.

Here is my exact illo brief:  A shepherd (female) guarding horses, cattle, sheep, and orchards, with a glowing Shepherd's staff. She recently changed sides to the forces of good even though she used to be a bacteria (the antibiotic is actually a byproduct of bacteria)
From little I have seen, it is really neat stuff.  My wife, the nursing professor, was mildly amused too.  And from the art side, it is an interesting challenge, as the art serves quite a few masters.  There is a roleplaying tome like two page spread (so the character is alone, no background), as well as posters, as well as art for the collectible card game.  I did the art quite large for the poster size stuff and worked down from there.

Next, I'm working on Ertapenem, another "good guy" heroine drug interpretation.

The link to their website is here:  http://bacterionomicon.com/
    And the art!

Hope y'all get a kick outta the artwork.

First off, if you love comics and you haven't backed Ribbons, my possible modern mysticism noir series... you should.

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/851906653/ribbons

I've got some cards and such to do, which I can't show until they are released.  At which point, I always forget to post them (reminder to me, post some AEG L5r cards that just released soon!)  But I do have some odds and ends of commissions and some doodles for a Storium game.

First up, another in Paul L's ongoing Vampire realm...

    Vampire and Victim

Next, another one of death tribble's commissions.  This time it is Manta Ray (which has been used in other places).  I tried to keep him aquatic, but obviously suit like and while the DC Manta Ray was to be referenced, it wasn't to be copied out right.  I actually looked at a lot of pics of real manta rays while trying to design the costume.  I liked how it turned out.

    Manta Ray

Next up was a duo commission.  Don't do those very often and this was fun.  Army Ant and Firefly.  Very specific color choices asked for by the patron.  And that AA was shorter.  As a short guy myself, I was really happy to have such a heroic guy representing us vertically challenged folk.

    Army Ant and Firefly

Lastly, this was a doodle bust shot of My character in a scifi Storium game about space repo/bounty hunters.  Storium is really a cool web based game system, very simple, very elegant that I am in the beta of and am supporting through Kickstarter.  I'm really impressed.  It uses cards to overcome challenges set by the Narrator (re: GM/DM) and the cards also determine who gets to narrate the outcome of the challenge.

If you haven't checked out Storium, you should, here is the kickstart link:  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stlhood/storium-the-online-storytelling-game

And here is my doodle of my character, Alton alMazeer, ex psi-op, reluctant bounty hunter.

    The Dress

Upon entering his room, Jason hung the garment bag he had been carrying on a hook by the closet door and turned his attention to the women sitting on the couch. Both women had their legs drawn up under them. Marlene was closing the cover of a drawing pad on which she had written, “Marlene's”, “Private”, and “Keep Out!” Leah was holding a large coffee mug.

“Everything go okay?” Marlene asked him.

Jason nodded. “The clean up is going. Depending on the engineer's report the rest will probably have to be torn down.”

“Any idea what happened?” Leah asked.

Jason sat himself on the back of the couch. He shrugged. “It was a research lab. It could have been any number of things. We won't have any idea until the analyses are done and the reports come back. With everything going on I'm not ruling out sabotage.”

Leah shook her head slowly. “All those people...”

“Fifteen dead and twenty-seven others injured. Hopefully they'll find out what happened,” Marlene said sadly.

“We've got our people overseeing. Everything else is being done strictly 'hands-off'. We'll let CSI do their job. As much as I'd like to keep my fingers in, I think it's for the best that way. What's that?” Jason cocked his head at the drawing pad as way to change the subject.

“Nunya,” Marlene said with a grin.

    “'Nunya' what?” he asked.

“Nunya business,” Leah answered with a laugh. Leah said something to Marlene in Japanese. Marlene laughed and replied the same way.

Jason sighed. “You two know I hate it when you do that.”

The two women laughed at him. “You could always learn the language,” Leah scolded him.

Marlene had a twinkle in her eye. “I love you.”

“I love you, too, Beautiful,” he told her.

“Is that my dress?” she asked, pointing at the garment bag in an off-hand manner.

Jason smiled. “I hope so. It's a little small for my cross-dressing routine.” Leah snorted.

    “Dress for what?” she asked.

“Oh, there's a little soirée at the museum Saturday night.” Marlene shifted until she was kneeling on the couch. “Do you have plans for Saturday, Leah? You could come with us! You can be my plus one and Jason can go solo.”

“Or find another date,” he teased.

Leah looked uncomfortable. “I... don't know, Marlene. I wouldn't want to be in the way.”

Marlene reached over and took hold of Leah's hand. “Leah, you will never be in the way.”

Leah gave a quick smile that faded rapidly. “Even if I did, I don't have anything to wear.” Jason gave her a look that was part guilt and part something she couldn't quite place. “What?”

“That's...” he sighed. “That's not quite true, Leah,” he said quietly. “You're probably going to be mad at me, but I wasn't exactly honest with you.”

Leah looked confused. “Honest about what?”

Instead of answering, Jason walked to the wall where he had hung a painting of the team. He pressed his hand against the wall and for a moment, it was backlit. The wall clicked and a door swung inward. He stepped inside, lost to the view of the women. When he emerged he had a garment bag in hand. He glanced at Leah and then stepped to the closet and placed the new bag on a hook beside the one he had hung earlier.

He returned to the hidden room and came out bearing several other parcels. He set those on a table near where the garment bags were hanging. Leah and Marlene rose and moved closer. They both recognized the names of the different boutiques on each parcel. A shoe box, two lingerie boxes, and a jewelry box.

“What's this? An early Christmas?” Leah joked, but her voice didn't carry the humor.

Marlene cast a glance at Jason, smiled and said, “Why don't you take a look?” She lifted the bottom of the first garment bag revealing her own dark green dress. “Hmm. George has outdone himself,” she beamed. “I love the color.”

“That's beautiful,” Leah said. “It'll look great on you.” She turned her attention with some trepidation to the pile of boxes. She sighed and flipped the top off one of the lingerie boxes and moved the tissue paper out of the way to find a package of high-end pantyhose. “Jason, you know these were my favorite kind,” she said quietly.

“I know,” he responded, his voice rough.

Leah set that box aside and noticed that her hand was shaking when she reached for the other lingerie box. She opened that box to reveal a sheer panty.

    “No bra,” Marlene teased.

“The dress is backless.” It came out as a whisper and Leah was surprised that it was her voice. Marlene gave Leah's shoulder a gentle squeeze and ran her hand lightly up and down the other woman's back. Jason stepped away. They heard the secret room shut.

Leah lifted the lid of the shoe box. Black four-inch stiletto-heeled shoes were revealed within. “Ooh, modeling shoes,” she said with a rough laugh. Marlene laughed with her.

“Well,” Marlene said, “down to two. Jewelry or dress next?”

Leah gave the garment bag a glance and then turned her attention to the jewelry box. Inside she found a pair of dangling jeweled earrings. “They're beautiful,” she whispered. “Jason, I can't...”

“They're yours. They've been yours. They've just been waiting for you to claim them,” he said.

“What about the dress?” Marlene prodded. “I want to see it.”

Leah gave Marlene a “you're nuts” look and sighed. She lifted the bag off the dress. She felt herself trembling. Hanging from a hook in Jason's room was the dress she had seen in a nightmare months before; a dress that Jason had drawn her wearing.

    “It's... it's a beautiful dress, Jason. I don't know what to say.”

Marlene cocked her head to look at Jason. His attention was out a window. “Why don't you try it on?”

“I can't... I...” She saw the look Marlene was giving her and sighed again. “Alright, but only if you try yours on. This isn't a modeling job.”

Marlene giggled. “Agreed, but all of it.” She bounced over to the dresser and pulled out the things she had set aside to wear with her dress. She looked at Jason. “What are you still doing there? Out in the hall with you!” She made a move to swat at him.

He quirked up a smile at her and held his hands up in a sign of surrender. “Okay! Okay! Out in the hall with me.”

Marlene chased him to the door. “I love you,” she whispered to him before she closed the door.

In the hall Jason leaned back against the wall opposite his door, with his arms crossed. After some time had passed, Brad walked down the hall. “What are you doing out here?”

    “Waiting,” Jason said.

Brad gave him a confused look. “For what?”

“Marlene and Leah are in there getting naked. I'm waiting for them to let me know when I can join them,” he said seriously.

    “For what?”

“You're a big boy, Brad. What do you think adults do when they get naked together?”

Marlene's voice came from the public address. “You can come in now.”

Jason stepped towards his door. “Don't wait up,” he said to the younger man, wiggling his eyebrows. Jason stepped in and closed the door on Brad, who was attempting to get a look in the room. With the door closed, Jason started laughing.

“Want to let us in on the joke?” Marlene asked.

Turning into the room, Jason stopped laughing. Marlene's dress fell to her knees. One arm was bare and the other was covered with a loose flowing sleeve. Her heels matched the color of her dress perfectly. Her sexy legs were covered with tan hose. She cocked her head to the side and gave Jason a shy smile.

“That doesn't work on me,” he said and she laughed.

“What do you think?” she asked, turning in place so that he could see all of it.

He took a few steps that carried him to her and looked down into her eyes. “I think you're beautiful.” She gave him a loving smile. She tilted her head to the side indicating Leah, who was standing in front of a mirror looking at her reflection. Leah brushed her hands down the front of the dress. She felt herself shivering, feeling Jason's appraising gaze move up her body.

“I look just like your drawing,” she whispered.

Jason stepped up behind her and gave her a warm smile. “Not quite. Your hair isn't done up and you don't have any makeup on.” Leah gave her reflection a sad smile. Her hands played with the fabric of her dress. She lifted her exposed leg and dug the toe of her shoe into the carpet. “Are you okay?”

Leah turned to look at Jason. Tears were forming in her eyes. She reached up and pulled Jason down into a kiss. When she broke it, she said, “I'm sorry, Marlene. I shouldn't have done that.”

“It's alright, Leah. With the way you look right now, I think he deserved it,” Marlene said. Leah stepped into Jason and hugged him. Marlene didn't miss the look on Jason's face. “So, what now?”

Leah pulled away from Jason and brightened. “Now, I think I'm going to my room and I'm going to call my bestie. And then I think I'm going to cry my eyes out in a girly fashion until I fall asleep.” She looked up at Jason. “Thank you,” she said quietly and turned to go.

“I've got a better idea, if you're interested,” Jason said. Leah turned back. “Since I've got you two all dressed up, how about we go out to dinner together?”

Leah and Marlene looked at each other. “Wolfgang's,” they said in unison.

“We'll need to do our makeup,” Marlene said.

“And do something with our hair,” Leah added. “My room?” she asked Marlene as she was going out the door.

Nodding, she said, “I'll catch up with you in a minute. I need to get a few things.” Leah nodded and left.

“You want to explain that look?” Marlene asked Jason. He raised his eyebrow in question. “The look Leah didn't see when she was hugging you.”

“That could have gone worse,” he replied.

“She's hurting, Jason, and she's confused. And you keep doing nice things for her.” Marlene walked up to him and ran her fingers along his jaw.

“Do you want me to stop?”

“Jason, she's our friend. If you stop doing nice things for her that will make me angry, and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.”

Jason lowered himself to kiss her. When Marlene broke the kiss, he said, “I've seen you angry. I much prefer you... interested.”

She smiled. “Later. After dinner. Dessert, maybe.” She turned and took her jewelry case off the dresser. “Right now, I have to catch up to Leah. You get us a table and get cleaned up.”

“I love you, Miss Palmer,” he said when she was opening the door.

“I love you, too, Mr. Scott.”

When the door closed, a flash of crimson left a ring box in his hand. His fingers curled around it as if he were going to throw it. He shook his head and growled. Another crimson flash and the box was gone just as suddenly as it had appeared. Jason's hands started loosening his tie.

A couple of post ago, I mentioned not wanting to release the more "cover" oriented private commissions as clip art.  Well, LPJ Design and I worked out a price point that, yup!  We ARE releasing some artwork as Single Portfolio pieces.  Yes, these are more expensive, but compared to a cover, which I charge from $400.00 to $1000.00 depending on complexity, these are a STEAL!  So, if you are a publisher who needs some fantasy adventure artwork, please consider my offerings:

Check out the Single Portfolios, 1 and 2, here:

I'm about to enter into a contract with a ton of work that needs to be done in a month.  So my posting will probably be a bit spotty, if non existent.  I don't think I will be able to put up the artwork I will be working on for awhile.  But it is fantasy art for "digital" card game.

But to leave you with a bit of artwork, here is another Ten Ton Studio challenge.  This week, it is Captain Marvel!  I did this sketch on vellum with pencil and black color pencil... mostly the color pencil.  I kinda like the waxiness on the smooth vellum.

Here is the link to Ten Ton Studios.  Voting begins tomorrow on it.

And here is the artwork in case you don't want to go over to Ten Ton.

    Shazam! It's Captain Marvel!

    Painting on a different canvas

I painted on Saturday.  That is not particularly unusual for me.  What was unusual was that it was on my friend Pete’s face.  I’ve done a couple of wounds for my wife, when she does roleplaying scenarios for nursing students.  My wife is a professor of nursing and recently, she “played” a patient who had fallen and had a huge gash on her leg, bleeding.  The students have to access and figure out what to do.  It is startlingly real for 1st semester students and they get all kinds of flustered.

So.  I’ve had some experience doing blood trails, wounds and puss with cheap make up.  But Pete, who is a drummer in the heavy-metal Ire Clad, was doing a gig at the Haunt, here in Ithaca, on Saturday as a zombie.  Pigment is pigment, hopefully, I could pull this off.  So, here is my very first horror make up job.  This is all brushed on.  No cool airbrushes like on Face Off.  Pete did the clothes with a belt sander for the distressing and watered acrylic through a spray bottle for the blood.  I think his clothes came out better than the make up.  But it was a ton of fun to do.

Here be a link to Ire Clad’s own facebook page with more pics.  https://www.facebook.com/ireclad

    And here are my pics!

Also, unrelated, I needed to do a warm up the other day, so I decided to do the Ten Ton Studio’s sketch challenge.  Which is DC comics’ Mad Dog.  Come on by the Mad Dog sketch challenge thread and check ‘em out.  You can vote on them too.  So, if you like one sketch in particular, please vote, you do not have to belong to Ten Ton Studios to do so.  Voting starts tomorrow (Wednesday).

The Devil is in the Details.

Well, in this case, Devil is coming out of the arch way.  Here is a commission done for my awesome patron, Paul C.  This one was a lot of fun to do, especially while watching my beloved Packers beat the Ravens yesterday.  (I have two monitors, so I can watch stuff while I work).  But I did the finishes this morning, early afternoon.

I had the layout in my head before starting the painting.  I pencilled both the demon and Dana there on separate paper, scanned them in, created the cathedral and statuary in Manga Studio 5, combined it all in Photoshop and then did a semi-sorta digital underpainting.

I have not released a lot of the Paul C commissions as LPJ Design Portfolios because the time that goes into them, I don’t want to release them at the price point those portfolios go for. So.  If anyone needs some 2nd use printing rights for covers or what have you, these paintings will go for a lot less than 1st use artwork.  And I will make some extra monies that is more reasonably compensation.
