  1. Re: Detect Correct Answer The first one (about the neutralize this pool of acid) is what I want. That's why I was thinking the limitation that it must be something that could normally be researched (without actually sitting down with the book for a week and researching).
  2. Re: Detect Correct Answer Great suggestions everyone. I was struggling with Detect - making it a KS works much better to what I have in mind. I don't think it will be unbalanced since it's only Normal Research Knowledge and the GM is the final ruling on if that knowledge is something that could be obtained through research. Example: Two doors - one leads to certain death and the other to freedom - asking "Which door leads to freedom?" would probably yield no answer (and waste my charge). If I asked "What is the best way to determine if a door leads to certain death?" GM might give me door hinge shapes, styles of knobs, air flow patterns through the door frame, etc. which may or may not be useful in the situation.
  3. I'm creating an amulet that can be asked 1 question per day and give the correct answer. It's like a magical Google (that searches a reliable internet, that is). It can only answer questions that could only be obtained through normal research (although normal research could take days, weeks, or even months). This is what I've done: How would you build it?
  4. In 6E, if I'm reading it correctly, an AOE Radius cannot be changed after defining the size. Does this mean that, if I define my Fire Ball Blast to be 8m Radius, that it is always an 8m radius and cannot ever be a 4m radius? I read that a Constant Power can have a +5 Adder Alterable Size (which is shown as an example). Can Instant Powers have this adder as well?
  5. Re: Comliness Perk Beauty is only skin deep. You could define COM as Sex Appeal as well as Beauty. This could overcome the 'Cultural' and 'Taste' problem. Follow me here: Someone is average looking but somehow has the Charisma to attract the opposite sex (I actually have a friend like this). Has a big nose, a little too thin, and probably would never win any beauty contests but... he has a pleasing and non-threatening personality. I wouldn't call him a leader (high PRE) and he's not that smooth of a talker (Conversation) but woman seem to go for him. Thought of that way, you could change the Perk a bit and say something like this: Pleasing To Be Around +1/+1d6 Something Special About Them +2/+2d6 Exceedingly Charming +3/+3d6 Undescribable Attraction +4/+4d6 The Perk would be complementary with any PRE based skill rolls (She's commanding AND pleasing to talk to). Re: Need some ideas for a mini-series Ideas generated randomly from Hero Helper: #1 * The villain has devised a scheme to recruit soldiers * Which sets the stage for the villain to murder another super villain * This evil plot is for the fun of it You have a mini-turf war go on and your heroes end up in the middle somehow (maybe the marked-for-death villain asks for the heroes help in exchange for some information) #2 * A hero is struck by a power-switching ray and switches powers with another hero/villain This idea sounds like fun for a short run game especially if you have the three heroes switch. Don't share the character sheets with them as they try to learn the powers. Throw a simple bank robbery or mugging right after their powers have switched. #3 * The villain has publicly devised a scheme to aquire a futuristic dagger * This incredible plan is to destroy the heroes One of the hunteds decides to announce his intentions to steal a light dagger (smaller than a light saber) just to goad the heroes into action. #4 * While taking a much needed rest, the heroes hear about a daring plot to torch a bank * So the villain can locate a mysterious amulet * This incredible plan is to win the love of his life back The heroes find themselves meshed in a love triangle between the Villainn, his lover, and the bank president. You can run it as a fight or if you make the villain pour his soul out to the heroes, you could have the heroes try to coach the villain in the ways of romance. Just a few random ideas nyakki

  9. Re: Great moments in RPG history I was running a one-shot game where the characters played themselves 50 years in the future. We wrote up the characters as they would be in their 70's. They all had to have some physical problem. So, for example, our Gadgeteer had bad eye sight, and our Energy Projector was overweight and burned x3 END. They also had other limitations and had to reduce their powers accordingly. But the points got shifted into skill levels, favors, contacts, skills, and anything else non-combat but within character. The game was them being called out of retirement because one of their old enemies, Black Ice, had surfaced and was going to destroy the world. Due to the fact that they were 'less powerful' they relied on stategy and we played the whole game without entering combat. When they finally tracked down and met Black Ice, instead of fighting (which I was ready to do), they started talking to him. It went something like this (from memory but you'll get the feeling): Black Ice: I finally have you now. I've waited my whole life and now I will destroy you and the world. There is nothing you can do to stop me. Ray: What the hell you doing Black Ice? Destroying the world. That's so old. Red Eagle: Hey Blackie, how old are you anyways. You've got to be at least 80 now. Black Ice: I'm 68 if that matters. Sureshot: You mean you were 18 when we fought you last? Black Ice: Yeah, so. Sureshot: I'm just saying what a wasted life. Black Ice: But now it's paid off. It's time to make you all suffer. Sureshot: Suffer. Hey Ice. I have arthritis. I can't even fire my (bleeping) bow, even if I wanted to. Red Eagle: Not to mention that my doctor said that if I don't lose weight I'll probably die of a heart attack. Ray: And look at how thick these glasses are and I STILL can't see worth a damn. Red Eagle: Blackie, why don't you turn off that oversize ray gun, we get out of our suits and let's all grab a beer and talk about the old days. It was one of the coolest roleplaying session I had ever had. nyakki

  15. Re: "Grond smash!" and other Grond plots I was running a solo campaign. The PC was an armored brick that was extremely intelligent. I usually would start my games with a description/title in a form of a Comic Book cover. This one, I remember, had the Hero badly beaten with a shadow of a four armed giant. The Hero, suit non-functional, looking up at the object making the shadow, shouting "Nooooo..." - I don't remember the title but it would have been something like: When Giants Clash or something non-specific (the cover would give a hint to what would happen but never exactly - in this case, Grond) During the Grond battle (which the PC was losing) Grond threw him into a set of powerlines. As well as shorting out his suit, I decided to have some fun. I switched minds (which fit nicely with the cover... although I didn't plan on it at first). Grond was now in the PC's body (with a broken suit) and the PC in Grond's body. It was fun. He picked up Grond/himself and ran to his secret base (where he had trouble fitting through the door). All the while Grond was trying to escape with his (new) normal STR. Our PC had to get used to his casual STR (ooppss a little to hard) and his size (duck before going through the door) It was a lot of fun and we actually played a few game sessions like that. Made him go on a quest to find some materials to switch back (he found out it isn't any fun being hunted by the whole world) He eventually switched back but I had a little of him still left in Grond and a little of Grond still left in him. They had a psychic link which was used from time to time (I made it a disadvantage - nightmares, overwhelming anger for no reason, difficulty concentrating - Not all of the time, just at the most inappropriate moments ) On the other side, Grond was fighting a bit more intelligently (so the reports would say). nyakki
