[This thread continue from http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8178&perpage=15&pagenumber=2 please read original thread for more] Well, i've decided to follow in a next thread Reassuming :I'm building a balanced "ending encounter" for an adventure to be played in a con (2-3 hours limitation) for players around 200 point total cost; is my first time GMastering Hero, and i'm searching to do a balanced encounter (please note that is the final encounter; after this is the final revelation...) First chracther is RedCap (someone can have readed about her) Second chracther i'm thinked is Twinergy, a girl who can duplicate in two different twin (well, both are absolutely identical one with each other, bot little different from the whole girl). The problem is: Duplication Power description states that charachter A can duplicate in charachter B, but A is original and B is the "copy". Therefore, A pay for the power, B not. So if is Wendy-Elysabeth is build in a 250 point basis, Wendy pay 50 points for the duplication, and Wendy has 200 points free and Elysabeth 250... she are NOT equal... Can i pay 250 points to make Elysabeth a 200 point characther (with Zero-phase recombination, +10 points to duplication cost)? this will make them absolutely identical; and i can assume that are not an "original" charachter and a "copy" but two original clones Other power i'm thinking abouyt is Desolidifcation; better if with limitation "can be hit by fire/intense heath sources", and a fly (2 or 3 hex will be sufficient to be safe when desolidified; "only when desolidifed" (linked to Desolidifcation ) is a good chose) An idea cna be buy desolidifcation with linked disadvantage "only when duplicated" (to represent that she duplicate, than her "vital energy" are rarefacted, and she can pass throrough object... ) Other idea about a power for her? I'm thinking about a multipower kiss (like succubus kiss she can drain some stun or end or vital energy, or simply shock, or paralyse (entangle?) enemy...) Or a "copy power" or better a "drain power" (sort of Transfer or Drain linked to a Cosmic Pool)
  5. Now, duplication description states that characther A can duplicate in charachter B, then A ios the original and B is the copy; and A pay for duplication, while B not. So if A is built on a 250point basis, A pay 50 points to copy in B; A has 200 points left; while B has 250! so A and B are not equal! (and power description states that A and B must be absolutely equals!) so wher is the point? can i build B on a 210 points (and pay only 42 points for power)? or i must buy an advantage (or disadvantage)?

I'm, building a charachter with desolidifaction power, and i've some question about it: 1) desolidified charachters are unaffected by "real world" attacks; is clearly unaffected by physical object, bullet, sonic wave, and similiar; but is affected by fire, electrical, pure photonic energy? (Lasers or microwave for examples) 1a) is affected by intense thermal sources, like intense cold and heat? and by radiation? 2) can i build a desolidification with "vulnerable to fire" or "vulnerable to radiation"? 3) if a Charachter buy duplicate, and desolidification, can recombine while desolidified? in theory, SFX for the desolidifcation are same ('cause is a duplicated charachter) so can interact each others (and so recombine). This is true?
  7. Well, actually i'm thinking on making an "enemy party" of 2-3 people, so combat isn't too slow to handle... Another NPC i've thinked is "Twinergy" (see below) Well, i have no time, 'cause i'll be at the con in sunday; but no problem, 'cause i cannot play this adventure in the con (not finished yet:( and specially not playtested yet... ) and then i'm preparing for the NEXT con, or for play with my friends (and to playtest them:)) Then, this idea for a second NPC, Twinergy: "When Margaret Pearson was pregnant, she was pregnant of TWO girls (twin girls), but when pregnancy ended, only one girl born; other simply was desappeared, like never existed. The girl was named Wendy Elysabeth 14 years after, when margart died, Wendy Elysabeth start crying on the bed, and when she stop crying she find... another girl crying on her bed! After initial moment («Who are you?» «NO! Who are YOU!!!») both decouver that she was... same person!" Well, thi is the base concept: Wendy Elysabeth can duplicate in 2 distinct girls: Wend Pearson and Elysabeth Pearson Now, other problem: Duplication Power description states that charachter A can duplicate in charachter B, but A is original and B is the "copy". Well, so next question: with teleport, 2d6 nnd eb with no range e suppression, without significant defensive powers (unless armor "only up to absorption" is considered "significant"... ), she's advantaged in an encounter with many PC? i think not... Yes yes you're right Then... (time to dinner here in italy; i'll continue next time (Dinner ended, i'll continue) Then, i've some ideas for the "enemy party", so: 1) Reptilia, a pretty and poisonous girl, with reptilian eyes and tongue (see heat sources), poisonus bite (hand attack) and spit of the cobra (ranged, NND; i guess drain con or drain body or like... maybe a multipower). Specialty: double jointed (and tripled and more :) ) 2) Ghost, an infamous boy able to become ethereal (desolid) and invisible 3) Little boy, a mechasoldier (soldier brick half human half machine) very smart and tactical (yeah, intelligent brick.. fear of humanity! :p) 4) Polimorf, a strange mutant able to polymorph in any object (or like... but how can i make the polymorfing ability?) 5) Unstoppable; simple useless boy, with the ability to regenerate near all wound 6) Five-In-One, an villain, who duplicate in five different villain... Or, put several "little enemy", enemy not so powerful, like previously encountered, with increased threat of Red Cap (and other enemies, eventually...) I wait for your reply... Balancing Encounter 2 Well, now, i'll make an Hipothesys (presumption?): We're assuming that RedCap is balanced with other PC, i means that effectiveness of RedCap is equal than average effectivenes of the single PC So the problem is: is sufficient RedCap or is necessary to party her with other villain?
  10. Exactly! this is the problem! but, hey, she's still a villain, so can thieve, or commit other criminal activity. Besides, she has a teleport and wear a mask :) And, actually are working like "Jailer" for the S.T.O.P. suppressing psichokynetik powers of a superhuman threat (but she don't like this job...) so actual employment is not much a problem... the problem is that i've an empty everyman PS and, hey i dont' like to waste gratis skills

Well, i've this NPS, RedCap; she is a very beautiful girl, pretty face, hot curves and very goodlooking... she WAS a very beautiful girl... she was secretary of an university laboratory, when an explosion occurred; some radiation invested the facility, and with allarm all peaople are evacuated without casualties... NEARLY all people evacuated... She was hitted by radiation, that radiation have orribly scarred her right leg, right arm, right tight, right side of the face... horrible veins are visible trourough a pallid skin... now she bear a mask, and a costume that cover her right side and even if she can "sense" energy, "absorpe" energy, "suppress" energy, release energy to cause damage and, last but not least, become energy for a brief moment and "travel" in energy form (teleport, ) she cannot be anymore secreetary, or make any job that put her in direct contact with other people... So what kind of profession can have a scarred high presence woman? (beside erotic phone center, i mean )

Well you are right; but, thisi is the disaadvantages of RTX-9900: "15 Distinctive Features (Concealable, Alway Noticed) 5 Physical Limitation: lack of smell and taste (Infrequently, Slightly) 5 Vulnerability: x1 ½ BODY to EMP, Microwave, Intense EM Field (Uncommon)" This is self explainatory... "10 Hunted: by local agent of “STOP†(Superhuman Terrorism Operative Police) 8- (Mo Pow, Analyse)" [is the S.T.O.P. that created RTX-9900; it's escaped after some old model, RT-8000 and RT-9000, opened fire against an innocent, and infringed the law; so it former "fellow" has begone "enemy"...] and that is the psychological limitation: "15 Psychological Limitation: Directive 1-Uphold the Law (Common, Strong) 15 Psychological Limitation: Directive 2-Never Kill a Human (can kill human only to defend other human or in face of a big threat and/or law violation) (Very Common, Moderate)" this limitations are much limiting, i think, you don't? so you suggest any other limitation? Well, actually enemy are all SPD 2, except for RedCap that is SPD 3 (but i think she must be SPD 4 or more, if i raise average party SPD) But having different SPD betwen PC is a sure method to show the use of SPD (and the "power" of high speed) For the latter PC, Heavy Rider, i'm thinking about a possible Psychological Limitation: he's a "Don Giovanni", he likes to be "engaged" with beautiful girls :p (i'm thinking about an "engagement" between he and BlueLight :) and im' thinking about to give it SPD 2, with a SPD boost, with boostable charge or fueled charge, so he can boost SPD 3 or SPD 4 or evely SPD5, but if he boost SPD 5 this is only for one time, SPD 4 for little time and SPD 3 for much more...

Well, mi idea is to make thing simple, BUT meantime show that is different have SPD 2 or 3 But i've read your conseul; so i've raised all SPD of PC by 1 (SPD 3 charachters become SPD 4, and SPD 2 PC becomes SPD 3) To balance, i've introduced a "Distinctive Features: Mutant" (like the NPC showed in CKC) for 3 Charachters; and for a fourth, non mutant PC have introduced a new Psychological Limitation: Honorable (Common, Strong) balancing 5 points extra in skills But the problem is: there are 2 Charachters that i don't' have idea what type of disadvantages introduce! One is an automaton (RTX-9900) with 215 Total Cost (so raising SPD will bring to 225 points!And it have Hunted, Distincitve Features, Vulnerability... and i've no idea of a further disdvantage Other (Heavy Rider) is a boy with an Armored Suit (well, transofmable Aromred Suit but is another question ) and is not a mutant, and i've not idea of what disadvantage give him! (yes, i've thinked a sort of vulnerability, but what vulnerability? same of RTX-9900?)   14. Well i known but so is less difficult to understand for beginners, and con-people-who.don't-ever-played-hero (PC are built on a 150 basis, that is very low for superheroistic...) If this session is very succesful, and if my friends want to play more hero, i'll give about 50 points more to "customize" PC and i'll permit SPD higher

  16. The name is ever a problem... well, i see that other have reported so many name... (i like Crimson Fury or better Crimson Lightning or like no kidding, i've made a PC who is a young girl, a "mutant" i think, who has electricity that run in their vien; and i called her BlueLight cause lightning is blu, so RedLight or CrimsonLight may be acceptable for your heroine For power, i suggest a med-powerful energy blast (a lighnting bolt), maybe with variable special effect (electricity and fire) some suggest an absorption, and i too think that an absorption stun/body to power (to boost an "electricity discharge" hand attack) is a good solution; another solution is the reversal, absorption energy damage to stun/body If you like, flying riding a lightning o swinging using a "red lightining rope" may be an idea but i don't' like much; teleport may be a good solution (she transform istantanely in red light, the move at lightspeed, and then re-transform in herself ) Or a desolidification (transofrm in a pure electrical energy form) The PC i've mentioned early, has a damage field, linked to an energy field (that energy field has a side effect who do 1d6 killing to enyone and enything in a 1" radius, she excluded but included every friend and even every object she has, or every dress she wear... If you want more "red" than "light" you can build some drain or trasnfer stun/body (drain blood) or an aid stun/body or heal (she convert energy to blood, then can transfer energy to other people) And don't' forget Flash btw, if you can also check Conquerors, Killers and Crooks, here are a few NPC that use energy and energy form I hope my post was helpful (a question: where have you found this pictures? i'm searching for pictures for superheroes...)

Sigh i know... so i want to playtest this BEFORE but... the con is next sunday (well, fromthursday to sunday but i can go only in sunday) so i don't known can playtest... in every case, i don't know if i will play Hero at this Con, 'cause if i don't' playtest it's problematic, and i know that around 90% players want only to play in Dungeons killing Dragons (i like D&D but HEY THERE'S SOMETHING ELSE!!!) Well i planned this: 1) initial attack from some "robot", automaton with OCV/DCV3 and PD/ED4 (non resistent) and a single 12 active points energy blast (3d6, no kcnokback, beam; SFX variable from indiviual to individual) and 8 body. Total 105 point. Exact number will be decided in game, if are too weak or to "fast to die" i'll increase the number, and viceversa This attack will be to let "known" characters each others 2) attacked from some robot,CV3, Body10, PD/ED6 (14-, 4 resistent) and a 12 points EB to force them to collaborate each others; can put down one or two of them but before or after must flee (140points total) the plot is: TV have filmed first combat and declared that hero are supervillain; so the group must demonstrate his innocence 3) variable, the group can: 3a) assault enemy base (full of soldier, cv4 stun 24 body 10, 11PD/ED (14-, 8 resistent) with 9mm pistol (4 dc) and 5d6 stun only Hand Attack, total cost 100), with some veteran (little better with 12 body and 9 points energy rifle, 132 total cost)) in strategic points, and one or two mechasoldier (30 STR, 10 PD/ED Resistent+damage reduction 25% and life support, and a 10 points energy rifle, total cost 164) at the end. 3b) sneak in a secondary base; lot of soldier and little robot, some veteran and/or advanced robot (STR 18, 5PD/3Ed 82 resistent)automaton with 12 body and a collection of weapon (VPP changed only in laboratory, around 15 active points for each "weapons") total cost 150) in strategic points/end of base 3c) use intelligence and sneak in the TV Studios, (at most, combat with some overweighted donuts-eater cops ) At the end, the cgoup decouver there's someone else behind this and follow to investigate into the next destination 4) last destination, house of the "master plotter", before the entrance combat with a single powerful villain, redcap, around 200 total cost, with 5CV, 21 stun, 2PD/3ED (and armor/absorption to stun up to 12 ED), 2d6 NND EB (11 points), teleport 5" ½end (19), Suppress 3d6 cumulative, and sense energy (targeting touch group sense) This one must be most tough combat 5) after this combat, RedCap flee (back-to-home teleport ) and group can enter the final room, wher encounter Kynetik, a 60year old man (inspired me by Magnet of XMen films), much powerful mastervillain (around 520 points, with STR40 no end TK, Telekinetik shield, and some similiar, plus ECV8 ) Killing RedCap the group has "freed" him, which power was "supressed" by RedCap; he has planned all to be free; he state some revelation (yes, even the "I am your father" if in the group are one particular PC :) ) He give at the hero the unomidifed film, so the group can demonstrate his innocence, and fly away This is, VERY SHORTLY the plot i've prepared all enemies are SPD2 except for final that are SPD3, and party are around 2-3 of SPD Yeah, the roboto are MUCH vulnerable to lightning attack from one PC and two another PC has a killing attack (one ranged, one HtH) I'll do well if necessary is a good iea one moment: must be around 2-2.5 times MY max attack or ENEMIES max attack? Yeah this is true... One last qquestion: in the initial part of this longwinded post i've put a briefly version of adventure plot; doyou (all) think i must create another villain who combat alongside RedCap (or just in case of necessity if there's somtehing wrong and the combats are too fast)? Well, in Hero Games site i've found an XLS that calculate "Effectiveness Total" I think is something similar :) But i think there's a problem... cause calcualtiong, the 215 points automa result in 15,60 points (after triplication of PD and ED) and "normal lightning-bolter PC" result in 37 points... so... where is the problem?

  22. mmmmhhh it's' an idea... even 'cause a PC (RedCap is a NPC, for an "exemplar" adventure to play in a Con... or to let know Hero to my D&D-fan friend with the subtle "i must playtest this adventure... :)" subterfuge ) i've saying... it's' an idea 'cause a PC has a Vulenerability to "EMP, Microwave and Intense EM Field" but... there's something that don't' likes me... You say something like "Piccolo (form DragonBall) Stretching Arm"? mumble mumble... naaaaaahhh She can use the Teleport... Nice idea! One of PC (a girl) has an electrical aura, so She can sense her... or sense RTX-9900, an automaton, other PC... well, nice ideas; thanks both
  23. Well, i've a(nother) problem RedCap has some points left (16 points) and i've no idea of what power to build... I'll talk about her: She's.. she WAS a very beautiful girl, she was secretary in a laboratory structure, before accident... Some machinery is exploded, nearly all people fleed, she was not so fast, and radiation invested her. Now, right legs, tight, breast, shoulder, arm and right side of the face is orribly scared; not deformed, only visible veins through pallid skin When she was child, her dreams was to be a "beautiful faire", now she's only a "Red Cap". Not only her aspect, even her body was changed; now she's able to control some form of energy. So this is the powers: -She can Teleport (5", ½ END) -She can Absorb energy who hit her in the "deformed"" body (Absorption Energy to STUN, Activation 12-, plus Armor only up to amount rolled by absorption...) -She can induce pain by touching with right hand (EB 2d6 NND with No Range) -She can Extinguish energy in other persons (Suppress 3d6 only versus Mental/Energy, cumulative x2) -And she, using a very powerful technological RedCap, can Suppress the powerful psykokynetical power of Kynetik (another villain) (and only of Kynetik) (This power is the plot of the adventure so is VERY IMPORTANT) And i've some more points to spend (i'm not sure how many points, around 15-20) And another problem: after adventure is gone, if Red Cap is alive (and if plater's' want to play again, wich i hope :)), i must remove "power to suppress only psykokynetical power of Kynetik" and use this 16 points on some more... Have you any Idea? (Sorry, i'm very discursive and longwinded, but... hei! is my name )
