Re: Jack of All Trades
GMO you can buy a KS or PS with any skill for 2/2 at 11- and 1/2- at 8- fpr two and one character points, respectively. I would suppose that the JOAT enhancer would make these even cheaper (perhaps 2 familiarities for one point? I don't know, we should ask Steve).

Re: Crippling VPPs
VPPs are a great answer for what you can't do with a MP or EC. But the added utility you get from one (especially the cosmic one in the example) is more than compensated for by the increased cost (150 points for any combination of 60 AP power or powers) and the less-defined nature. In my game, only pre-approved powers can be brought out of a VPP for use in a game situation, although a player can add as many as he can think of, and the GM approves of. This way, it still functions in a manner more closely resembling the EC or MP it "wants" to be without sacrificing the versatility it needs to have to be worth the points.

Re: Legal or no ... Dispel Damage Shield?
Arkham is right, this should be a purchased special effect of the damage shield. HOWEVER... I would rule that if the PC's player wants to use this life support in this context, he may, but then would have to put XP toward making it a real power as soon as such XP is available.
Which is a way we build a lot of our powers in our group- they start out as power stunts before we pay the points for them.

Re: Non-Duplication Duplication Tricks
Thank you to all. He has many of these powers, but not all of them. Some are in-concept, some are not. But this is fun!
He also has a Force Wall (circle of bodyguard dupes), Stretching (dupe chain), and KB Resistance (Army of supes forms to hold him up against an attack).

I'm looking to add some roughly 80 AP power stunts to my duplicator's elemental control. These should be powers with SFX of "creating/using duplicates of himself" without using the actual Duplication power (which sits by itelf outside the EC).
Thank you in advance for your nefarious and inspired commentary.

Re: The Champions Do they suck?
No, no, no, yes, yes, and I'm not really sure.

Re: Orson Scott Card To Write Ultimate Iron Man...
It can't suck as bad as Byrne's.

Seems tailor-made for Xform to me.

Re: Anyone here speak Maltese?
I mean, am I right, people? Dancing dogs.

Re: Anyone here speak Maltese?
You know what I think is funny? those pekingese dogs that dance around in a little tutu. That is hilarious. For my money, you just don't get enough dancing animals on the television.

Re: Seeds of Change PBEM
Well, build them on 400 and ask for help upscaling them.Seriously. Why not?
I don't even know where to begin for a 400-point brick. I have an idea for a power set which might match the potential angst quotient for this setting, but no character to sit inside the costume. Maybe flesh it out more tonight.

Re: Does My Brother Have "Right to Marry"?
Sure it is, but only for the reason you mention: it's important in a historical campaign.
-
Re: Seeds of Change PBEM
I'd love to submit a character and have a go at this PBEM thing, except I have no idea how to build a competant character on any more than about 400 points. Good luck in this endeavor, it's a nice setting.

Re: (somehow) realistic Secret IDs
It's only sort of related but...I've always though that just about the only hero that could reasonably expect to both be a Hero and maintain a secret ID for years on end is Spiderman. And thats mostly because in the comics his Spider Sense warns him when he is about to blow his Secret or when a Sniper is about to off him.
Just about everyone else will be good until a supermerc with a sniper scope decides to end their interference.
And I would say, cosmicaly-powerful heroes would have the best shot of covering themselves in this department, since nobody would think that SuperDude would spend 16 hours a day as Ned Nobody pushing a pencil in a cubicle.

Re: Power Build: Astral Sense
That's perfect. In fact, Clairsentience has a specific blackout disad, and side effects has a specific case where you can build temporary Disads into a power as a side effect. I'm thinking about using that for an ability akin to Rogue's, where a character can absorb memories and personality (but also psych lims).

Re: Angel, the worst original character concept ever?
Dude, no question, Falc would break Warren's hollow bones and use them to snort coke out of in about a half a panel.
-
Re: Angel, the worst original character concept ever?
Falcon started out with a grappling hook, not wings. The wings came later on. And now, he uses grappling stars on thin lines to snare his opponents or other useful junk. So that's way more power than Angel! You gotta keep reading people!
Wait, you're right, there's absolutely no difference, except you can take Falc's powers away more easily.
Falcon may be as interesting as Angel, but he's not nearly as accomplished. You are right when you call him 'Cap's Sidekick' since that is about as far as he's gotten. Angel is an integral and fouding member of the number one source for whining and angst in the MU, and has spawned a winged clone. All Falcon got was a trained pigeon and one lousy miniseries.

Re: Conventional Explosives: PD or ED?
Make them giant flashes instead of damage- so everyone can get up and do it again

Re: Genetic tinkering with superpowers
In your stories (or in the CU assuming you use it), assuming a superhuman has an origin like mutant, psionic, alien, science accident/deliberate experiment or special heritage (hypervoluted subrace, child of a god), how feasible is to tinker with/reproduce with the char's superpowers via biotechnology. Eg doing feats like reproducing, enhancing or combining the powers of one or more superhumans in a clone (eg like Magneto's clone, Marvel's Nefaria duplicating and enhancing powers from low-end bricks, energy projectos and speedsters to turn oneself into a Superman on steroids), creating bioweapons tailored to target superpowers, inducing in a bioengineered clone a precise set of superpowers, creating a superpower-duplicating lifeform (Amazo, Super-Adaptoid).Assuming someone like Teleios or Dr.Destroyer stumbles into DNA samples of people like Gravitar, Holocaust, Menton, or Viperia, what he can actually do ?
::rubs hands evilly together::..anything you can think of!
If it's fun, then do it. Explain why it works this time and not the next time later. Never let shoulda-coulda-wouldas get in the way of a good story. In the case of Telios or Dr. D, they should be able to do anything you can dream up.

Re: Marvel's Rogue
I don't have the USPD and it's a possibilty nobody else talking about this does- because those who have it, and know the power, may not be interested in this thread.
But you're right, it's silly nobody said this before.
