I think the Basic Rulebook does a fine job of distilling the big books o' rules into a reasonable length. But most of the people I know don't even bother to read basic instruction manuals and would balk at being asked to read even a 16-page rulebook, let alone the 64+ page rulebooks we've dealt with all our gaming lives. If I want them to play, I have to make it easy for them. So that's what I do.

Yeah, teaching people Hero system should be just teaching them how skill rolls work, how combat works, etc. No way should a newbie be asked to create a character.
Fortunately, Hero System is simple, outside of character creation.

We're turning into Unicorns.
Which is fine, as long as there are plenty of naked virgins to go around.
But seriously, I'm hoping the strategy of turning it back into a house system will work. It's a great design that deserves to be played widely.

Put it up on ebay at .01 with no reserve and find out what it's worth.

Probably so.
I don't run into many people playing any version of Hero System, sadly.

Wow! Someone got a lucky score.
I guess you have to be ever-vigilant to get one of these for a decent price. It seems to be perfectly poised on the edge between popular enough to command high prices yet not popular enough to sink thousands of dollars into a new print run.
Oh, well. At least I got a copy. And some day I may be wealthy enough to buy a mint copy for $10k.

I managed to get a damaged copy of Volume 1 for a decent price. Huzzah!

I would definitely buy this/these. It sounds like a great take on DDG, with plenty of source material for campaigns.

I just decided finally to upgrade to 6th edition, but it looks like I missed out on the "damaged cover" ones of Vol 1.
I ordered Volume 2 for a decent price, but Volume 1 is outrageous, as noted above.
If anyone has one in excellent to mint condition they're willing to sell me, send me a PM.
Champions Complete, Champions, and Champions Universe
in HERO Games Product Line

I see that Champions Complete is something like the 4e BBB, but I can't tell if the 6e Champions product is along the same lines or if it's a genre book. And how much of the info from the 6e product Champions Universe is in either of those books?
