  1. Eraser Thanks for the input so far. Does anyone else have any suggestions?
  2. Solo Scenarios By solo scenarios do you mean me playing by myself or do you mean a Gamemaster and one player. I think the later would be very helpful and in keeping with the comic conventions. I don't see too many helps for doing what is done in the majority of the comics. So I would like to see that in a supplement of some kind.
  3. My 2 cents Well I would say that the government would not be likely to allow anyone to take the place of the justice system. Being judge, jury, and executioner has never set well with most of the people in the US. The "wild west" wasn't as wild as the movies make it and everyone was trying to bring civilization in that situation. I just don't see the government letting them get away with it. Yes they would be brought to trial and yes they would probably either end up in all out war or trying to be Benevolent dictators. I believe the Kingdom Come series in DC was something like that wasn't it? Thats my perspective on it anyway.
  4. All languages You could do a modified version of the Universal Translator talent. It would require alittle work with advantages and limitations but I think it would be the route to take. It is the closest to the power you are describing. As the gamemaster it is your perogative to do things like that. However, I would also ask myself if this could mess up any of my scenarios. Will there be a time I want the characters to not be able to understand what is being said? If so you might want to let him just take the talent as is and then leave him without the literacy with all the languages. Otherwise have him use the Linguist skill and as many languages as he is willing to buy. This puts it on the player to decide how important knowing swahili and ukranian is. There are limitations on this stuff for a reason. Thats my advice anyway.
  5. My Take Well here is my answer to the question. First of all how do you kill something that is already dead? So a code versus killing does not apply. After all a corpse at the mortuary sometimes twiches. These just move alot more but they are not alive. Second. Demons by their very nature are not anything but a personification of evil and therefore I would consider them fair game and would not penalize my players for offing them. As long as they know what they are up against. I wouldn't let them get away with the whole "Oops I thought he was undead" excuse but if you know you are facing a dead thing or a demon then they are fair game in my game.
  6. And Another And here is Huntress.
  7. Here are a couple more Here are a couple more characters Enigma
  8. Hunted Actually given the reptilian nature of your character I would suggest Viper. Especially because the new Viper does alot more experimentation as well as having King Cobra and Coil as a possibility. Just a suggestion from the sidelines.
  9. Update Thanks for the suggestions so far. Just to give you a little more information. I did set down and talk with the players before this incident happened. I let them know that killing attacks would have consequences. Unfortunately that did not seem to work. The other players also said something to them during the scenario and one of them went to help Foxbat after the fall. By the way. The car was a Honda Civic. 14 Body and 3 Def. He flew 8 game inches upward with the vehicle and then spiked the vehicle into the ground with his full strength. So I combined the falling and strength damage as I would think it should be done given the circumstances. The player also rolled a huge number of sixes. Wouldn't ya know it. I also took into account that Foxbat was not just falling to the floor but had twisted metal and engine parts and the like coming in toward him. Most people in car accidents aren't killed by the sudden stop but by the vehicle parts going through their bodies. Anyway, I believe these two will not be playing anymore, which is too bad because if they just would have learned to tone it down I think they could have had fun. But personality wise they just felt the need to dominate the game to a degree that it would have caused me to jack up the villains and would have ruined the fun for everyone else. I had to go through and tone down Omega Man 3 times before we got a character I would let him try to play. Now what do I do to get the rest of the team out of this mess they didn't create? I want to bring them into the rest of the scenarios in Champions battlegrounds. One of which, OmegaWorld, needs the heroes to be popular with the public to be invited to. As an aside I could change the lawfirm to Slythur, Slandre, Beetem, & Cheetum Any Suggestions? I also would like more input on the whole killer player thing so I can avoid it in the future. Thanks again for the help.
  10. I just got done watching Eraser again with Arnold Schwartzenager (sp) and I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for creating the neat little toys they used in that movie in Champions terms. The rail gun The neat N-Ray type sight for the rail gun The bouncing bomb that explodes out drill bits. etc. I thank you all for the input.
  11. Let me give you a little background on my current campaign and some of the problems I have been having and see how you guys and gals would handle it. I have a fairly new superteam based in the new Millenium city. Some of the players have been playing Champions for awhile but most are newbies. We have a couple of scenarios and I notice some of the newbies are a little apt to use their most deadly attack first and ask questions later. One of the scenarios I ran was the Return of Doctor Destroyer which caused quite an uproar in our Millenium City and the World in general. The government deputized the team as part of the new Doctor Destroyer task force which has a council that the team answers to made up of people from UNTIL, Primus, The CIA, DOSPA, and the NSA. The team is given a new base and some new DNPC's to run the place. Things are going fairly smoothly and then we start the Champions Battlegrounds modules. The first run again shows how the newbies are very hack and slash oriented. So I set up to have the teams legal advisor, Mr. Dewey from the law firm of Dewey, Cheetum, & Howe, come in and speak to the team about the liabilities involved in their battles and how they should not use lethal force unless absolutely neccessary. A couple of sessions later we run Let's go to the Maul which has some villians who do not try to kill or even let innocents get harmed. The scenario is going along when Foxbat appears and so do the members of Grab. Capture foam is fired at our powered armor character named Omega Man. Omega Man then decides to whip out his 4D6 RKA Light Sabre and try to slice Bluejay in two. Cheshire Cat runs to her side and helps her get away. This leads to a rather bad battle as Foxbat and our team's Darkness specialist Shadows make large areas of reduced perception. Foxbat grabs the jewel and then hopes in the Foxbat mobile. Omega Man proceeds to lift the vehicle 8 inches into the air and then hurl it for his full 70 strength into the floor of the mall. Doing so much body that the car is at negative 11 body. Foxbat is almost killed and his two compatriots start running for the exit. Next we see our team's hero Voltage. An electrical energy projector chases them a few phases behind so he loses sight of them. He gets to the parking lot and sees a Yugo leaving the parking area at high speed. It is too far for him to see who is in the car. He uses his Dispel Technological Device power to shutdown the electrical system of the car and the car stops. At this I think "Neat, he gets using the nonlethal force at least. Then next he hits the car with a 4D6 RKA electrical blast and nearly kills the college student who was in the car trying to get away from the bedlam. Most of the villians got away except for Foxbat who will be suckin his dinner through an IV for awhile. Although if it weren't for Cheshire Cat, Bluejay would have had the same problem. Primus shows up and their Silver Avenger is highly ticked. Omega Man and Voltage did not stick around for the police to arrive and talked about making plans to flee the country or to just mop up whoever came after them. These players were upset with the fact that I told them they had used too much force again. My question to you is how would you handle the aftermath of this one? What should happen to these very unheroic heroes? I thought I gave them more than enough warning. Coincidentally, these two were also trying to use the rules to Munchkin their characters in the first place so I can't imagine how bad it would have been had I left them in their original design. Anyway I am looking for input. How do you handle D&D style players in a Champions world. I need to also find a way to get the rest of the team back in the good graces of the public so I can run the OmegaWorld scenario from Battlegrounds next. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.
  12. More Ideas The suggestions so far have been really good so here are my 2 cents worth. Another vote for a "sleuthing mystery." Too much bang and boom makes Superguy a dull boy. Don't want people getting too used to the classic bashem game because then when they design characters they decide to ignore the skills aspect. Another vote for some multi-dimensional ideas. "Mirror, Mirror" or other kinds. At least until we either get an updated Champions 3-D or a reprint/pdf of the old one. Some of us don't have the book any more (lost in a move) or haven't been playing long enough to have seen it. "The care and feeding of Subplots." How to string together story arcs into a larger adventure that the characters don't even realize they are in. "How to deal with everyday streetcrime" after all not all baddies wear costumes and the normal population still needs help against muggers, rapists, liquor store robberies and the like. After all isn't that what got alot of heroes started in the first place. I think it sometimes gets lost in the rush to have the costumed kooks make appearances. "The Horrible Truth" a scenario where the heroes face something truely evil and almost unstoppable with their everyday powers that gets away from their ever watchful eye and tries to kill again if the heroes don't find the way to stop it. It doesn't destroy city blocks, but their are people disappearing or turning up dead (teenagers at a summer camp, etc.) and the reason needs to be found. Something ala The Monster or The Slasher from the Beastiary. "Aftermath" a scenario about the collateral damage from a fight or invasion. Dealing with the property damage and shattered lives of the normals they are trying to protect. Very similar to the "Natural Disaster" talked about earlier. "Dreamtime" a Freddie Kruegeresque type scenario where the heroes need to fight a foe that isn't physical. "They get their day in court" a scenario where the hero has to testify in the trial of a villian they brought to justice. Could possibily dovetail with "Jailbreak" or aftermath. Could also contain info on heroes getting sued by people effected by their actions. Kind of a Supers and the law primer. Well those are my suggestions for now.
  13. Battlegrounds I have run the first two scenarios so far and they worked out really well. The only problem I had was I had a couple of newer players who were used to the D&D kind of thing. In the second scenario they almost killed Foxbat (Flew 8inches up with Foxbat in the trunk of the Civic and then threw the Civic at full strength into the ground. Gave the car -11 body and injured Foxbat really bad.) next we had to play out the rest of the team taking the offenders into custody and they are now in stronghold. Now I am trying to find a way to increase the good PR for the team so that they can get invited to scenario 3 at Omegaworld. Any suggestions?
