  1. Re: Powerful Sonic Effects Wanted...

how about a transmetropolitain style Bowel Disruptor or you could cause vomitting instead.

    alternitivly subsonic fear inducer

Was too impatient to wait, so I went with:

Cone of Deafness- 15d6 Hearing group flash, AE:Cone(10' sides, +1), No Range(-1/2) and 8 charges(-1/2)

Harmonic Disruption Field- Darkness 10" vs hearing, 15 charges(-0)

Induced Harmonics Molecular Destabilizer-6d6 ranged(+1/2) Body Drain, only vs inorganic matter(-1/2), 6 charges(-3/4)

Neural Dampening Harmonics(Lullaby)- 9d6 Ego Attack, does not provide Mental Awareness(-1/4), 15 charges(-0)

    Permanent Deafness(already described)

Physio-Disrupting Sonics- 6d6 Ranged(+1/2) Con drain, side effect:target that loses more than 10 Con due to this attack will also soil themselves(-0),

    4 charges(-1)

*Note:Although a powerful and useful effect, he does not use this much as he feels that he needn't humiliate targets as well as beat them...

Sonic Lance- 6d6 NND(defense is sound control or sonic absorption powers, +1), Does Body(+1), 8 charges(-1/2)

    Sonic Needles- 12d6 Armor Piercing(+1/2) Energy Blast, 15 charges(-0)

    Sonic Stunner- 9d6 NND(same defense as sonic lance,+1), Reduced Range (8", -1/4), 15 charges(-0)

White Noise Generator- 24d6 Dispel vs any sonic power, one at a time(+1/4), Reduced Range(8", -1/4), !5 Charges(-0)

Also gave him a small (20 point) Gadget pool VPP, for effects like the solid sound force wall projector, as well as more mundane items, like rebreather, etc.

  2. Re: Pirates versus Superheroes

Battles at sea on a boat- Pirates know how to fight in cramped quarters and in the ship's rigging- heroes would be at big disadvantage. Plus, depending on the powers of the heroes, using them on a boat or at sea could be a BAD thing(mostly I'm thinking fire and other boat-destroying powers here).

PS: Make them Ninja Pirates and then the heroes are double-screwed!!! :stupid:

  3. Creating a Marksman 2 character, son of Donald Henderson. He's got the MarkVIII sonic cannon, left to him by dear old 'da. 90 active points, and so far I've got a 6d6 major transform- permanent deafness, 6 shots with 14 or less Burnout. What I need now are some more ideas besides just the easily designed 'sonic blast" powers...

  4. Re: Hitman: Your Next DC Campaign!

If you are old enough to kill somone then you are old enough to clean up after yourself my father always said to me.

And who to say who is a professional? I know that I never get good at any task unless I have been doing it for a month atleast. Let’s say killing someone takes like five minutes then you can kill 96 people per day when you are working then you have to murder atleast twothousandeighthoundredandeighty people before you can call yourself and professional murderer in my opinion. Let’s face it most professional killers are just highly trained amateurs.

That right there... that's some messed up math, and I say ths from the comfort of my nice cozy tower where I sit and cradle my H&K Rifle:whistle:

  5. Re: Spoiling my Rep

Pyro and Tele kinesis powers as Typhoid, IPE mind control that makes men want her and, most important when facing Daredevil, her Mary and Typhoid Personalities actually have different smell, sound, taste, etc so that he can't tell they're the same, since he can't see them. Oh, Mary is "blurry" to his radar sense as well, giving her a real advantage when fighting him. PLus, she's mean, nasty, and exceptionall dangerous is melee combat, especially with knives.

  6. Re: Octopus, Centaur... what else?

As a variation on Doctor Centaur, I had the idea of Sleipnir(sp?), a six legged centaur body based on Odin's six legged horse.

Cybernetic eyes based off insect eyes that provide 360 vision and also enhanced sensory powers.

THat antennae idea was pretty cool though, I'll have to steal, er... borrow that one.

  7. Re: An odd question

When I was 19-20 I don't think I would have done to much to change the world- my first feat of power would be to return life to my father upon returning from Japan for his funeral. After that I would basically spend years hiding from everyone that found out about that power and figuring out what to do next.

If I got the power today, that would be a very different story- there would be lots of powerful groups getting my tow firmly up their asses. And I would do it openly too, because, well because they're gonna find out who you are anyways- why waste time hiding...

  8. Re: Non-Duplication Duplication Tricks

I'm looking to add some roughly 80 AP power stunts to my duplicator's elemental control. These should be powers with SFX of "creating/using duplicates of himself" without using the actual Duplication power (which sits by itelf outside the EC).

Thank you in advance for your nefarious and inspired commentary.

You should try to track down the old Heromaker article about duplication stunts done by Dave Mattingly. Some great ideas there.

  9. Re: Stupid Mentalist Tricks

    Ultimate Trash Talker:

12d6 Telepathy, only to glean details about target's mama.

+50 PRE, offense only, Invocation "Your mama's so..."

2d6 Ego Drain, triggered by successfull PRE attack...

Shouldn't that just be called the "The Dozens"?

  10. Re: Stupid Mentalist Tricks

Reminds me of a suggestion I think was made on the old boards, for a new member of C.L.O.W.N.'s power:

I've Got A Permit For That! Mind Control, OAF (a permit, for that)

IIRC, the idea was that the Clown would be hopping on his pogo-stick in rushhour traffic, or something similar. The police would approach him to make him stop...

"I'll be danged, Pete. He does have a permit for that!"

Actually, that could easily be done as part of Merry Andrew's gadget pool... :)

  11. Re: Stupid Mentalist Tricks

It's not as bad as it looks- aid to body and stun, only to starting levels with good extended point loss, does not affect those without minds or with mental defense(-1/2)

"Freeze" Mental Command- Entangle BOECV, vs. Ego instead of Str and only affects those with minds, heck add on mental defense adds to ego roll

  12. Re: Did anyone ever write-up the DC Impact comic characters?

Wouldn't that just be a normal Universal Focus?

No, because there was no gaurantee that you would ever get the Hood back and it could not be replaced, so it's beyond being just oihid- and don't forget the Psych lim-Must do Good(Common/Total) but that leaves the definition of "good" up to the wearer.

  13. Re: Did anyone ever write-up the DC Impact comic characters?

I loved that line of comics (though I was distressed by what happened to the Comet after the original creative team quit). "Bob Phantom" was one of the funnier bits I've ever read in a comic. I never tried to work them up in hero, but I can't imagine it would be that hard. They were fairly simple (except for the Black Hood), which is one of the things I liked about them.

One nitpick, it wan't Impact!, it was !mpact :P

Simple, heh... they were based on Archie comic characters :nonp::rolleyes:

  14. Re: Did anyone ever write-up the DC Impact comic characters?

    I loved the Black Hood!

    "I am the Black Hood...

    and I love you."

I think I'll give the idea a try.

The Black Hood would be essentially a set of Skills/Talents and low level powers tied up in the hood. Perhaps bought as OIHID.

The tricky thing would be if the GM wanted to ensure that the skills etc transfer was paid for with points. Brainstorming I would make it a Transform: Guy into Black Hood.

    Hawksmoor

The Hood would definately need to be independent, since anyone who has the hood has the powers, and they usually lose the hood by being killed.

  15. Re: Dark Galactic Champions

As a comic reference, you might want to check out old Star Slammers and Alien Legion issues, the slammers I don't know enough to talk about but the Legion was a sort of future french foreign legion type of set-up where they would have to take on suicide missions- like the future's Dirty Dozen.

  16. Re: Holy Poker Card Shuriken!

Once you have the techniques down pat, modifying the card to suit would not be that hard- sharpened aluminum edges would likely work well enough, or just coat the cards with one of those super-durable plastics they use for collector sports and sharpened to a nice razor-sharp edge... (okay, maybe I put too much thought into this)

  17. Re: The cranky thread

Last night I was up until 4AM... I promised myself tonight I'd go to bed earlier... and I'm up 15 minutes after I promised myself sleep...

    I'm an addict.

Dood, it's 3:33 and I goota go shopping tomorrow before work, meaning even if I go to bed RIGHT NOW, I'm only gonna get five hours sleep. :fear::angst:- that's what I'm gonna look like tomorrow, thank god no one can see you over the phone...

  18. Re: SFX Stunts : Cool or Abusive?

Well, in the situation described, he could throw the bottle at the mugger, knocking them down/out and making them drop the purse/wallet. Bobby's gotta have a cooking opitching arm after all those years throwing snowballs at people :)
