  1. These cards are for use with Narosia: Sea of Tears Fantasy RPG's unique narrative system. Players Control The Gods To Influence The Plot The gods meddle, and the players use this set of cards to allow them to say how a specific god influences the story — if they can explain the god’s motivation. Divine Intervention Cards are used to represent both the possibility and degree of influence by the gods. These cards, with one exception, reference an aspect of a single Enaros, and possibly even the Enaros as a whole as well. This aspect reflects the type of influence the Enaros has chosen to exercise when the card is played. Additionally, each card is marked with a certain number of pips, rendered as small suns along the bottom of the card. As the number of pips increases, the amount of influence the Enaros exerts also increases. From a skeptic’s eye, the greater the number of pips the more difficult it is to deny direct intervention. A one-pip card could most certainly be attributed to luck, and a two-pip card is just short of a miracle (arguably mundane – crazy things do happen). A three-pip card is almost undeniable, and if the conditions are right the Enaros may even be seen exercising their influence. The play of a card is an opportunity for role-play. The player should assume the role of the specific Enaros singled out by the card and describe why the Enaros has chosen to interfere with these specific mortal affairs, and your character in particular. Playing a card does not represent your character calling upon the gods. It is certainly possible, especially if playing a tsverg, that you do not wish divine intervention. The Enaros are not really all that concerned with what your character believes or thinks (to a point), and they will intervene if they wish, possibly even in spite of your character. Some Enaros even have a certain amount of sympathy for the tsverg (again, to a point). So, assume the mantle of an Enaros, roleplay the god’s will, and have fun with the game. What's Included High quality poker sized playing cards 165 cards complete with names, aspects, and power level of the card Complementary download of Divine Intervention Cards in PDF format for print, cut, and play at home

  7. The Books Of The Undead is Elvensong Street Press’s series of PDFs providing pre-generated character sheets for dozens of undead monsters. Each volume is devoted to a specific type of undead. This one, the fourth in the series, looks at ghouls — terrifying corporeal undead who subsist on the flesh of both the living and the dead! Within its pages you’ll find the Bestial Ghoul, Ghoul King, Ghoul Shaman, and much more These ghouls are the perfect minions for such villains as: Necromancers, sorcerers, Dark Lords, evil high priests, liches, and other powerful Fantasy adversaries Evil mystics and insane archaeologists in Pulp Hero campaigns Mystic supervillains and organizations in Superhero campaigns. For example, in the Champions Universe, villains such as the Takofanes the Archlich, the Demonologist, Dark Seraph, and Black Paladin might have ghouls serving them, and the Morbanes of DEMON could easily create some ghouls to further their fiendish schemes or guard valuable facilities. Additional volumes in the Books Of The Undead series cover zombies, ghosts, liches, skeletons, wights, and other types of undead.

  9. Superhero MMOs and similar computer games often feature two types of characters who occur far less commonly in tabletop RPGs: the Controller and the Debuffer. A Controller is a type of character who specializes in controlling the behavior and options of the enemy so that the enemy becomes completely useless and/or helpless (or nearly so). Their powers may focus on hard control (locking a target in place, putting a target to sleep, removing a target’s ability to take Actions in the game, controlling a target’s mind), soft control (“debuffing” a target so that his actions are less effective, or even pointless), or some combination of the two. A Debuffer focuses primarily on soft control powers, and often also has some ability to “buff” (enhance the abilities of) or defend a group of heroes. They may also possess powers that inflict damage on the enemy, whereas Controllers tend to have much weaker damage-causing powers (if any). This document contains rules and sample powers for creating controlleCr characters in the Hero System.

  11. Women are, of course much weaker than men. While this is common knowledge, it might surprise you just how much weaker women are than men. Women would have a slightly higher dexterity, a slightly lower speed, and maybe some other things I haven't even thought of. Have you met my wife? Seriously. She's freaky strong. While Multi-form strikes me as a perfectly acceptable way to create a character that can change genders, much of your above statement strikes me inaccurate. Yes, on average, women are less physically powerful than men. However, the statistical outliers (very strong women vs. very weak men) seem to average that out a bit. And I live out here in ranching and farming country, where the women are often very physically strong and capable of doing a "man's work" when needed. Which is often. And I question your assertions about dexterity and speed. I'm pretty quick and nimble for an old guy, but somehow I don't see beating Serena Williams at... well, pretty much anything. Jason
  12. This PDF expands the Superhero Gallery from pages 243-87 of Champions to add ten new character types you can quickly and easily create: —the Animal-Man, a character whose powers derive from, or are themed around, a particular type of animal; —the Caped Detective, who combines his investigative skills with various fighting abilities and gadgets to make himself a matchless enemy of the underworld; —the Cultural Mystic, whose magical powers derive from a specific mystical tradition or culture (such as Egyptian, Shamanism, or Voodoo on this sheet, though you can easily adapt it to others if you’d like); —the Elemental Powered Armor wearer, whose powered armor’s weapons and defenses focus on a specific “elemental” form of attack (such as Fire, Electricity, or Ice); —the Force character, who manipulates sheer force to attack, move objects, and achieve other effects; —the Light character, who controls light in various forms (from blinding flares to deadly lasers); —the Power Weapon wielder, who possesses a weapon of great cosmic, mystic, or technological might; —the Robo-Hero, whose artificial body grants him superhuman powers; —the Shadowmaster, who controls darkness and shadow; and —the Themed Gadgeteer, whose arsenal of gadgets are all designed or formed along some theme (such as a particular animal, holiday, or category of objects [such as “toys”]). A new product from Steve Long.
  13. The Elemental Grimoire is a long sought after tome of magic. Compiled by the Archmage Talmar, it houses information on the spells of the elements. It is rumored to house spells collected from various Elemental Mages. Spells for Air Magic, Darkness Magic, Earth Magic, Fire Magic, Ice Magic, Lightning Magic and Water Magic are said to be found within its pages. The tome once compiled was so sought after that Talmar hid it in an ice castle that floated on a huge rock on a lake of lava deep within the earth. There it has safely resided for centuries. Now the hunt is on the tome and the spells it holds. Can you find the tome? Are you powerful enough to keep hold of it? Are you worthy of the Elemental Grimoire? A new product from Greg Elkins.

The 1.04 version of Hero Combat Manager is still included with purchases of 1.05 because the new version has not been as thoroughly tested by the beta testers as previous versions. The following changes have been made from 1.04 in 1.05. New Features Game Master can now select the power and/or combat skill levels that a character has when making an attack. The power and combat skill levels will pre-populate the Attack Input Tab on the Attack Dialog box. This should speed up combat. The tabs on the Attack Dialog have been changed to improve combat workflow The Game Master can set the Damage Resistance for a defender and it will remain set during the combat until the Game Master changes it. Characters that are marked as incapacitated are removed from the target selection list Effects tables are available from the Attack Dialog Major Bug Fixes Continue to resolve corner cases associated with “Held Actions” Fixed a number of bugs which caused the application to ‘lock up’ Knockback distance calculation was wrong and has been fixed Open Issues Under a very specific circumstance HKA may not be calculated correctly. 21. This Friday I'm going to catch a plane from Reno to Ft. Worth, rent a car, and drive to the small city of Denton. Why do you ask? Because that's where the archives of Aaron Allston's work are stored. With the help of his mother Rose, I'm going to go through those files, locate all of the material related to his decades long Strike Force campaign (including the now-famous bluebooks), copy them, and send them where they need to go so that a new Strike Force book (or possibly books) can be created. Before his untimely passing, Aaron and I had been talking about producing a new Strike Force book for Hero Games. But we were both involved with other projects, had a lot to do, and it didn't seem like there was any particular hurry to get the project done. However, now that he's gone, his family and I believe it's important that his part of his legacy be preserved by issuing a new and expanded version of this seminal work of RPG game design. I hope you all will agree and support this project when it goes live on Kickstarter sometime later this year. The new version of Strike Force won't formally be a Hero Games product. Rather, it's going to be a joint project between Blackywrm Games and Evil Beagle Games, with designer Ross Watson spearheading the editing and design of the book, and myself overseeing the development and production. (Or so Ross and I hope, as neither of us knows what I'll find down in the Lone Star State.) Using Blackwyrm's Larger Than Life: Tall Tale Adventures Kickstarter project as a model, we plan on producing versions for the Hero System, Savage Worlds, and Mutants & Masterminds respectively. So wish me luck as I brave the tornadoes. Hopefully I'll come back with something that does justice to a talented author and game designer who was also our friend.

  24. Sorry the website went down earlier today folks. There was some sort of problem with the database, but our own Dan Simon and Host Gator managed to restore things seemingly with little or no loss of data. Please let us know if you have any problems relating to purchases made right before the website went down.
