Thanks for reminding me of that movie......

Re: Hi, Gene! Magic, Sanitation and Cleanliness
IN my Tunfaire game,
The city had a sewer system and the scrubbing system for the waste was mushrooms and cattails that had been magically breed for the task of cleaning up the sewers.
It wasn't perfect, and low level criminals were often given the sentence of having to go clean up and make sure the system was doing ok, but it worked pretty well .
Of course, my PCs found out the hard way.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
I have become a Deadliest Catch fan. Watching crazy crab fisherman is a lot of fun.
Ghost Hunters has started its new season. As usual, shows are kinda hit and miss, but overall I like watching Grant and Jason and the rest of the gang.
My son watches Top Chef so I do to. I normally dont like Vote the loser off kinda shows, but this one is the exception.
I caught the Hammer Film version of Hound of the Baskersvilles a few days ago on the Retro Channel. Peter Cushing as Holmes is quite fun.

Re: Complicate the Person Above
Enforcer84 once told me that I should invest heavily into Zinc and potato farms.
Needless to say, I lost everything I owned, except this treasure Map

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
I just picked up a copy of BIG Trouble in the Cheap DVD bin at Walmart. Kinda took me by surprise it was there.
I got to see Kiss Kiss Bang Bang the other night with my son. A Noir detective story set in LA with Robert Downery JR and Val Kilmer. The story is that a down on his luck theif and a gay "PI for the starts' join forces to rescue a missing daugher of a High profile movie star. Great Scenes, some great lines and nice acting make this movie a must see. Its on HBO right now.
Been Following ROME for the second season. Too bad HBO and BBC decided not to do a third season. I hope the ratings will allow a Movie lenght finale for the series. I dont think every thing can get wrapped up next week.
I have been catching up on Season 2 of Masters of Horror. Its been uneven this year ,but "screwFly solution" and the one by John Carptender were well worth watching.
Scrubs has had a banner year. 24 is holding my interest. BSG is getting whiney, but I still go out of my way to watch it every week. Dresden Files is decent. I love the lead actor.
Prison Break is winding down and I dont plan on watching it any more. NCIS and the CSI are ok, but I usually watch them on ON DEMAND in a three or four hour marathon on rainy days or laundry day. I did watch the Law and Order shows, but have not bothered too much this year.
I need to read more books looking at this list.

Re: What are your favourite Pulp cities?
Cairo -- exotic tombs and pyramids' date=' secret societies, ancient history, and tons of historical material available.[/quote']I have set my other world pulp adventure in New Cairo, somewhat based on Arron Allstons book Doc Shide, and added some of my own stuff.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
Just watched My Name is Earl and Four eps of Little Mosque on the Prairie.
the latter is quite funny. FYI the show is about a small group of Muslims living in a Canadian small town who finally get a small mosque in an rec hall of a church. Misunderstandings and such happen. Its a standard sitcom, with some neat twists on standard characters. Its funny enough. Not as edgy as I thought it would be, but that's OK.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
ON Encore there was a showing of "Heaven and Earth" a big budget Japanese Samurai movie with lots of big battle scenes and some amazing scenery. Sub titled but well worth watching. I have no idea if it was historically accurate, but it was a great movie.
Caught the two parter of Criminal Minds last night. Pretty good show and a stand out episode. Reed is in for a world of hurt.
I saw Lost last night, I will save that for the right thread.
I watched Top design also. Its ok. I am not much of a "reality TV"viewer, but my son likes this one, so I watch it with him when possible.
I have like 20 DVD I need to set thru. The local pawn shop game me a really good deal on some DVDs at about 3 bucks a pop. So for about a month and a half of Netflix, I got some keepers. I will take a lot of them to the used book store for credit.

Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread
I cant wait to see you at DragonCon!!
I gained a bit over the holidays, but my blood sugar is decent, and my blood pressure is great. The folks at medic keep calling me in because my platlets are very high in iron and other stuff they need.
Its nice to help out a little bit.
Funny they did tell me that they can no longer extend my blood coverage. I am covered until 2100. Thats right If I live to be 140 years old, ill still be covered by medic.
I guess I need to start donating for other folks
(actully I do, I get two donations per visit, so I can cover two friends.)

Re: Zombie Nazis in the Desert!
Rommel's Rod is a much sought after model for model collectors.
The orginial molds were lost years ago so the only new kits avaible are expensive resin recasts.
I saw one go for over 700 dollars at wonderfest and it was a built up one.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now?
Soundtrack to "kingdom of Heaven"
Composer Harry Gregson.

Re: Lists: Typical Disadvantages for fantasy characters
Great list of disadds.
What would the average cost of each be?
Most look about 15 points.

Re: HP Lovecraft movies
Curse of the Demon has a kinda lovecraft feel to it, and its way cool because because its black and white.
Dreams of the Witch House is part of Showtimes Masters of Horror series.
I think they oughta release the entire set as a box set, but 10 dollars for a 50 minute movie might throw off some folks, but there are a lot of goodies on the disk as well.
Dagon was the Innsmonth retelling and a good one.
Soundtracks?
