Re: No Horses For You
IIRC, Heinlein used horses in "Glory Road", but they had eight legs. If you want a nonstandard mount, maybe a standard mount with some subtle differences. Not quite a pushme-pullyou, unless your tastes run that way.
I'd use the new Spore Creature maker to create new mounts. They're a little cartoony, true.
Personally, I'd like to ride a Ki-rin.

My daughter found this for me:
While not very in-depth, it has many hyperlinks between gods, demigods, and fantastic animals. Christian Saints also in the house.
Enjoy!

I've never seen a plant mount either' date=' like a walking venus flytrap or living lily pads. [/quote']Do Ents count?

Re: The Addams Family
Gomez would have very high PRE and COM' date=' as well as PS: Lawyer, the Fencing martial art package, and natural leadership skills. Morticia's PRE and COM would be, if anything, even higher. (The chemistry in the movies between Angelica Huston and the late, lamented Raul Julia is some of the most amazing ever put on the screen.)[/quote']So true. The Tango from Addams Family Values is a piece of movie history. Raul Julia was a real loss.

Re: What Marvel hero am I remembering?
I remember "Captain Marvel". Way to alienate the Mar-vell fan base, Marvel. Shoulda called her "Photon" from the start.

Re: We Loves Us Some Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs
The idea of orcs as a Nazi race is interesting to meGreen power! *ugh* Kalimdor National Socialists.

Re: Jedi hdp and lightsaber
Have to ask Lucas, and we're not on speaking terms, since the whole stalker thing from Episodes 2 & 3.

Re: The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
I guess it's true that we need more urbane comedies, of the "Thin Man" type, mummies or no.

Re: The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Rachel Weiz is' date=' IMO, irreplaceable in that role.[/quote']Nothing but love for RW, but . . .
. . . it's a MUMMY movie! How irreplaceable could anyone be?

Re: Jedi hdp and lightsaber
As you like.

Re: We Loves Us Some Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs
My hatred of elves comes primarily from WoW. Likewise my hatred of gnomes. And orcs. And warlocks. And 13-yr-olds.

Re: Hard sci-fi adventures?
Mongoose Publishing just released "760 Patrons" for Traveller. I just bought it. Should be full of rich chocolaty goodness.

Re: Jedi hdp and lightsaber
"Hardened" is a mistake, I think. Remember, Qui-Gon could still cut through the blast doors.

Re: Jedi hdp and lightsaber
All good! I agree that lightsabers are independent:
"It belonged to your father. He wanted you to have it, when you were old enough."

Re: No Horses For You
They left the packs and saddles tied on! Not to mention they failed to groom them' date=' check their hooves, etc. I'm not PETA fan, but I'd give some of these knights a talking to if I caught them in the act.[/quote']Easy to fix. All horses in your world should talk from now on.
With Brooklyn accents.
And foul language.
"Hey, I'm tryin' ta SLEEP over he-ar! Get this saddle off me, motherf(*$%!"

Re: We Loves Us Some Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs
Because you desperately need a fifth player and the only way he'll play is if he gets to play a Kzinti. Because he's a furry.Jeez, just because you shave your cat's tail the ONE TIME . . . .

Re: Mapping the galaxy
Yes, I know, I know. Oops, the astronomers said, the Milky Way has two spiral arms, not four. Thanks for nothing, guys.I had made a map using the 4 arm data:
http://www.projectrho.com/smap12.html#map04
basing it on this now obsolete map
http://www.spitzer.caltech.edu/Media/mediaimages/sig/sig05-010.shtml
I'm in the process of re-vamping the entire map because of this. What a pain. Hopefully I'll have it finished before too long.
Dammit, if a galaxy with two arms are good, then four arms MUST be better! Don't run yourself down!

Re: If I were to write 6th edition Terran Empire I'd...
I'd like to see a hyperlinked history, so it's only as detailed as you like.

Think ahead to some other weird futuristic government type such as some sort of machine run government super democracy and all the trouble that would ensue from that.Like Iain Bank's The Culture.

Re: Karate Kid, reimagined
Because he is a Master of Sinanju. 55's about right.

Re: Jedi hdp and lightsaber
RKA because it's not a strength-based weapon. HHKA based on Ego would be interesting. I like the min Ego requirement. They took Untunable twice, so I would probably not allow it. The wounds are only semi-coagulated, so the victims do bleed slightly -- I'd go with reduced bleeding rather than no bleeding, and not give a penalty.
I usually buy it as an AWLD, the defense being forcefields or other lightsabers. Does body, of course. Real cost is bloody expensive. I like the AWLD inclusion of Combat Luck.

Charlie's never FOUGHT anybody, but he was in the middle of a firefight in the FBI office that he had flashbacks of. He had a hard time going back into the building. I remember him shielding his laptop with his body, and was inappropriately amused.
Ok, maybe Charlie is Dan's follower.
