1. Re: Cool Guns for your Games I didn't even know that. I've just seen 'em on web sites and such. I thought the whole no batteries idea was nice but had no idea how they worked in practice. =) I know this sounds really generic these days, but thanks for your service. I'm glad to hear you made it without getting too badly hurt or psychologically scarred. Since I didn't have to live with one, all I have is a general understanding of the platform. Compared to the reputations of other platforms, it just doesn't sound like a very reliable one to me. Then again, I'm not real big on having to keep my guns really clean. I only clean my pistols every few thousand rounds. I agree on the 5.56mm. From all reports, a great round s'long as there are no barriers to contend with... which seems oddly against what troops seem to face most of the time. I thought the .308 or 7.62x51 (?) was a good compromise over the old .30-06 and about as small as we really should have went. The funny thing is, I like the boomers. I just don't have the inclination to really practice with them anymore. .44 magnum is as big as I'll go. I can still rapid fire S&W 629 reasonably well at close ranges, and that's really kind of dumb anyway. Mostly I enjoy shooting .45 ACP as the simplest one to shoot with respectable power behind it. I now own a 9mm, mostly for the platform of the CZ SP-01, which struck me as a nice alternative to my 1911s for practice time and in general. I'm overall pretty impressed with it. I do actually like the Glock 30. I don't know why, since most Glocks just don't do it for me, though I shoot them well. The 30 is a nice little package with 10 rounds of .45 ACP in a small package and I can empty a magazine in no time and still group them into a big fist-sized hole inside of 20 feet. The group spreads out after that... but I have to own one of those sometime soon. =) Meh, I ramble all too much these days. =) As said before, you weren't in the least bit insulting nor do you need to apologize. If nothing else, at least I am not sensitive regarding ego, style, or otherwise. In this age of the easily offended, I choose to remain easily gotten along with... but in any case, you didn't say anything even mildly offensive. Hehe, I hear ya. I just like action-oriented characters. If I wanted to be sensitive or caring or all brainy, I'd just go do something in life. =)
2. Re: Cool Guns for your Games yeah, the .458 socom is the one that intrigues me the most. The .500 Beowulf was one I was really interested in, but the .458 socom is easier to get ammo for and doesn't require you to mod the feed lips and such on the magazines, which struck me as simpler while still getting the same thing. All in all, I don't really need any of it, though, and the ammo prices aren't real great, and there aren't really any good ranges around here that I've found yet for shooting a rifle. Investigating a new one this spring, I think.
3. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Someone already bring up the Knight's Armament PDW? I like the idea of the round and the gun. Though, to be civilian legal and still viable, it'd probably have to be a bullpup for the size considerations.
4. Re: Cool Guns for your Games I always liked the rotary 40mm grenade launcher dealies. They showed a version of it on future weapons or something once that I thought looked like a LOT of fun. =) I have no actual use for it, nor do I care, but he blew up a bunch of stuff with it and the idea of a 40mm shotgun round made me... excitable.
5. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Yeah, I need a new avatar. =) Maybe something macho or at least geeky. =)
6. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Didn't like Top Shots. I'm not a fan of game shows or the various reality show type game shows. I don't care about the drama, I just wanna see the shooting and such. Crying is for when you're in the shower, and is shameful... not for national consumption. It reinforces my hate of people in general.

Pulp Figurines

Re: Pulp Figurines Sweet. Gotta spread rep. Awesome paint jobs on those.
8. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Now THAT, I might be interested in... hopefully they make one with a better looking grip or even an interchangeable one. Would love to see that in a semi-auto version. And... odd thought... but if they did it all the other way, feed tube on top and barrel on the bottom, wouldn't it make the pump handle smaller and make felt recoil less? Guess it would mess with the point of aim a bit, but so many people use raised sights on rifles and such anyway... ?
9. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Fun resource I've seen posted somewhere before, but not necessarily here. Good times. Also need to spread rep. =/
10. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Something for the ladies...
11. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. I wouldn't say it that way... slight mistake is all. No big deal, only some spelling nerd looking too long at the picture would even notice it. I only noticed cuz I thought the coat was so neat. =) Wow, that's crazy... terrible to hear. = / Very saddening...
12. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Umm, not that I'm poo-pooing the art, they're great, as usual, but... isn't it spelled V E N G E A N C E?
13. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. New thread or posting into an older one?
14. Re: Cool Guns for your Games So, none of that helped convince me to change my mind... in fact, I just farted a little at the thought of some of that... or it could have been the pizza from earlier. =)
15. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Just fond this on the 1911 forum... not sure how they got the hollow-point to show, but neat. =) Found this vaguely clever...
16. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Hey, far as I'm concerned, yer all braver than me if you've jumped out of a plane. I wouldn't do it unless the dang thing were going down, and only then, because it was the only chance of surviving... and even then, I might need a diaper or at least a change of underwear and/or pants. =) Only other way to get me to do that is if you beat me in a fight to the death.... hehehe.
17. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Its all good. =)
18. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Ah, nice to see practical experience stuff coming into it. Nice. Thanks for the information, MarkDoc and Wolf. The handle and all that just seems like aesthetics to me, but then again, my preferences fall into the 1911, revolvers, lever-action rifles, and pump shotguns... so I'm kind of a traditionalist anyway, I guess... or at least prefer the aesthetics and handling of basic stuff and have no reason to have a combat oriented firearm outside of simple interest or want. But, since this is Cool Guns for your Games, aesthetics matter to me. I'm a low-tech fan, I suppose, in the end. The new rifles are definitely more high-tech looking... and despite seeing the advantages of polymer and the like, I still prefer steel and wood for the most part... I just think its prettier. I now have two guns with "magic" finishes on them, and I still prefer bluing and the like. =)
19. Re: Cool Guns for your Games No, you are not the only one. The H&K XM8 is another in a long line of polymer ergonomic modular systems that annoy the crap out of me. Some neat stuff going on and its a neat concept, but its ugly and looks stupid. The whole new deal with putting the stock directly behind the action and using all these raised rails/handles and all that seems to be the new wave of weapons these days. Especially funny since the rounds have just gotten smaller and lighter and less recoiling anyway. I don't like that series of rifles or the G36 line much either when they have those giant handle-like things on top of them. Seems like a lot of waste. Everyone seems to be a fan of carrying an extra few pounds in batteries nowadays as well.
20. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Thanks for all the videos... spread rep, etc.
21. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Will definitely check out turnbull later. Came across them before, but will have to take another look when I'm up for some work. =)
