  1. Re: Stargate Hero Ok, so rather than have the 'blocks' as a mechanic, just a GM ruling. So you could just have an idea of the rate of 'replication' and how quickly and easily they can create the bugs. I guess that the benefit of this is you don't need to work out the mechanic of the blocks transforming into other shapes. I think the lesson I will learn from this is that you don't have to build everything, plot and story and 'The GM says' has a useful place for filling in the gaps. Cheers Shem

  3. Re: Cartoon Hero That would be great if anyone else has similar Hero conversions of Toon abilities. I have a charcater concept for a hero called "The 'Toon" but have not even gotten started on creating powers. So I'd be interested to see any other ideas. Cheers Shem

  6. Re: Stargate Hero So it is acceptable to group the skills like that for the 5 pointer? It doesn't explicitly say that in the book, but it makes sense, the only other thing I could think of would be to have +1 on all background skills, this effects KS, SS, and PS. Just read the EGO description again and that makes a lot of sense, thanks, once more to the HD machine...... Cheers Shem
  7. Re: Stargate Hero So something like this would be it? 5 real points +1 Overall (10 Active Points); Limited Power Power loses about half of its effectiveness (Only applies when taking "The Direct Approach"; -1) That's what I'm here for Good point, so about 16 points would be sufficient? Cheers Shem
  8. Re: Stargate Hero Thanks I went with the high INT as I saw in the Sidekick character stats examples that 14-20 was Einstein level, and everyone is always saying that she is the best scientist in her field. And she is this series 'Data' or 'Spock' character. Again how does that work with the level on Scicnce Skills? Is that and the Scientinst enhancer in Sidekick? I'm off to check now.... Cheers for the feedback Shem

  12. Re: Stargate Hero Thanks Will do.
  13. Re: Stargate Hero Thanks for the links, this should keep me busy for a while trawling through this lot. Cheers Shem
  14. Re: Stargate Hero Cheers for that, I saw that there had been some discussion primarily about Zat's as they are a bit tricky, the staff weapons seem quite basic as an EB. My knowledge doesn't spread to that level yet, it will be a while before I tackle that I'm sure Cheers Shem
  15. Re: What's the best way to learn Hero? As suggested I have started a new thread over here. Stargate Hero Hope to see you there Shem
  16. Re: Stargate Hero I was looking at the real world weapons used in the series and they are mostly detailed in the Dark Champions book, I was going to make a HD prefab for those and then build on that with Goa'uld & Alien tech later, would that be any use to you at all? Thanks again for all the great feedback and I look forward to much more Stargate discussion. Cheers Shem
  17. Hi,Following advice and discussion on this thread, I am starting a thread where I can post Stargate adaptations that I create for feedback/comments.The reason for this, is that I am new to the Hero system and was looking for a good way to learn it. So the idea is that I will try to create as much as I can of the Stargate universe within the Hero system, this will give me a chance to try out different rules, starting with heroic characters and moving upto different more involved powers. The other reason for posting this here, other than feedback, is that others might find it useful, after a quick search of the forums all I could find was some discussions on zats, staff weapons and some generic 'gating' and symbiot ideas. So hopefully I won't be treading on anyone's toes here :)So to start off I have created a 150pt version of Jack O'Neill which is displayed below as well as an HD2 file.CheersShemColonel Jonathan "Jack" O'Neill Player: Val** Char*** Cost 15** STR 5 15** DEX 15 16** CON 12 14** BODY 8 15** INT 5 13** EGO 6 16** PRE 6 12** COM 1 * 6** PD 3 6** ED 3 4** SPD 15 7** REC 2 32** END 0 30** STUN 0 *6"**RUN02"**SWIM03"**LEAP0Characteristics Cost: 81Cost** Skill 8** +1 with All Combat* 3** +1 with any three maneuvers or a tight group of attacks* 0** Climbing 8-* 3** Combat Piloting 12-* 3** Concealment 12-* 0** Conversation 8-* 0** Deduction 8-* 3** Demolitions 12-* 3** Fast Draw 12-* 3** Interrogation 12-* 3** KS: Military organizations (INT-based) 12-* 3** KS: Small Unit Tactics (INT-based) 12-* 3** KS: Strategic Planning (INT-based) 12-* 0** Language: English (idiomatic) (4 Active Points)* 3** PS: USAF Colonel 12-* 0** Persuasion 8-* 2** SS: Astronomy 11-* 3** Security Systems 12-* 0** Shadowing 8-* 3** Stealth 12-* 3** Survival 12-* 3** Systems Operation 12-* 0** TF: Combat Aircraft* 3** Tactics 12-* 5** WF: Small Arms, Goa'uld Weapons, Knife, Unarmed Combat* Skills Cost: 60Cost** Perk 3** Contact: General Hammond 12-* 2** Contact: Thor 11-* 4** Military Rank: Colonel USAF* Perks Cost: 9Val** Disadvantages 5** DF: Military Uniform (Easily Concealed; Noticed and Recognizable; Detectable By Virtually Everyone)* 25** Hunted: The System Lords 11- (Mo Pow, NCI, Harshly Punish)* 15** Psych. 18. Re: Endurance for Strength Brilliant, thanks for that. I'll stick with 1 for 5 for heroic Cheers Shem
  19. Hi, In Sidekick page 16 it says "STR costs Endurance to use - 1 END per 10 points of STR. (Heroic games sometimes charge 1 END per 5 STR, since characters use STR so much with weapons and the like.)" My question centres on the 'sometimes' part of that statement. How do I know when? Is it a Gm/Campaign setting rule? Or is it decided by another means? Cheers Shem
  20. Re: What's the best way to learn Hero? Completely agree more, I've recently played in a TORG game where two of the characters are real gun nuts and the GM has intoduced some more rules for combat and there have been times where the rest of us have had to sit for what felt like ages as these 2 are like 'If you use the multifire option with an aimed shot and take out the for on the left that gives +4 and I'll do a sustained fire on the main guy here which should beat his armour.' 'Hang on, if you do this then we get another +2.........' I'm paraphrasing as I don't know the rules for TORG that well but it is all about getting that last plus 1 out of the dice, and inside I've been 'just say what your character would do and go from there'. Taking the Description THEN mechanic idea I was thinking last night, after looking round the forums, that there is not a lot of Stargate stuff here (saw the stuff about Zat's and Staff weapons), so it occured to me to carry on the line of thinking I have started with Jack and try to create as much as I can from the series. This way I can start with some basic Heroic characters bring in some baddies to fight, think about creating weapons, tech etc. Move up to more powerful characters and concepts, ships etc. This should fulfill the "I have the vision, now how the heck do I do that" Does this seem like a reasonable route to go to try out mechanics? Would people have an interest in this? Cheers Shem
  21. Re: What's the best way to learn Hero? Thanks Thanks for the pickup, I hadn't realised that the Perk was scaleable, I would suggest that it be worth 5 points, as he is about halfway up the chain of command. Thoughts? The contact of Thor is a good one, I'll have to put that in Cheers for now Shem

  23. Re: What's the best way to learn Hero? I've downgraded this to an 8-, he definitely had an interest in it as a hobby, I'm sure you saw him on the roof of his house with a telescope 'stargazing' during the pilot episode. And it was in his house at random times throught the series. I really wanted to keep this as I like the idea of skills that make up the character without having to be obviously useful. It feels somehow less munchkiny Shem
