  1. Re: Dinstinctive Feature for NPC I say he should have a short trunk for a nose, like a really small elephant. It's way to short to count as a limb (only a few inches or so).
  2. Re: The Champions Do they suck? I like the idea of publishing "upgraded," more iconic version of the Champs, maybe from "different time periods." I think Hero Games should just admit that the Champs are example characters, and add a second version that's "them after they've adventured for several years." Upgraded versions would be trey cool. But don't lose the examples characters for the basic book, they work well for that purpose.

    Super Names

Re: Super Names ...is a villainess from Enemies III, if it matters.
  4. Re: What is the Soul/Spirit, and how do I attack it? I forgot to mention: You can't normally hurt a spirit/soul in a body directly (you gotta fight them on the astral plane for that--good luck!). So most people just punch baddies in the nose instead--that's why they've got a BODY, for you to punch. I'd just buy a weird drain multipower and give it the special effect "Soul Drain" or whatever. Ghost are spirits, use the ideas in my first post.
  5. Re: What is the Soul/Spirit, and how do I attack it? Well, I haven't actually played in quite a while, so I'm not up on the latest (I still have to pick up 5ed!). But no one else has attempted to answer your question, so I'll give it a stab. First, what genre? Supers? Fantasy? Second, it depends on what your GM rules. Oddhat did a great thread in the Champions genre forum about the New Circle, a group of superheroes who are specialized to fight evil spirits. He did all of his spirit attacking stuff with Affects Desolid--All Forms. But that means that his GM would have ruled that spirits are a form of desolid. So ask your GM. I have a very old "Hero Almanac", third edition rules I think. It says that to affect spirits, you need to buy a power with advantages: Affects Spirits (+1/2), and Based on EGO (+1/2), for a total of +1. I think +1 is the same cost as Affects Desolid--All Forms, but I'd have to look it up to be sure. Powers which already are based on EGO (Ego Attack, etc.) only have to buy the +1/2 Affects Spirits advantage. I don't know if these rules are still canon, as they are quite old. There are other powers which affect spirits directly, such as Shift Spirit (used for "soul jar" powers as well as excorisms), Spirit Summoning, Consume Spirit, etc. Anywoo, that should give you an idea of the total point cost for affecting spirits. Check with your GM, or if you are the GM, you should charge about +1 on normal powers to affect spirits, and about +1/2 for powers based on EGO. You might want to ask around for where the spirit rules are now (they seemed Fantasy oriented in the Almanac). Check the FAQ too, there might be some hints in there. Good luck!

    Goofy Villains

Re: Goofy Villains I would think the ninja from The Tick would be good here. Geeze, did these guys have any powers at all? I think they might be negative points, more of a liability than an ally. Maybe that explains why there are so many of them....
  7. Re: West Coast Sourcebook Yup, I coudn't find any info about it either. I guess I'm wrong.
  8. Re: West Coast Sourcebook I thought stanford also had an actual, no-joke, small reactor for students in the power-generation/nuclear type programs, but I could be wrong.
  9. Re: West Coast Sourcebook Well cool, sounds like you have everything covered. Keep posting becuase I'm sure we'd all love to see where this goes (I know I would). I'd like to see some less mystical supers myself. With all the high-tech here, and Livermore Labs, you'd think that tech, gadget, and radioactive supers would be all the rage. (Doesn't stanford still have a working reactor? And I thought Berkeley did too...) The spirit of san francisco idea is really interesting (esp. the connection to emperor norton, which is cool), but I like supers that punch evil in the face. TSoSF for me would be a ghostly plot device, used to explain the unexplainable, but seldom interacted with by PC heroes. Let's not forget that the Loma Prieta earthquake also knocked down that horrible embarkadero freeway. I can't say it was all bad. Maybe it was DEMON, maybe some brick hero just got tired of the crappy thing....
  10. Re: West Coast Sourcebook Just curious, do you live in the Bay Area? I grew up in Napa, and I've lived there most of my live. I'm in the process of moving back there. If you want a technical consultant, I'll be around.
  11. Re: West Coast Sourcebook Ok, well my favorite game book regardless of system, is the Seatle Sourcebook. I love the fact that it's fully based on a real city, and uses the name of that city and it's general map. I also like the tons of atmosphere and ideas they present *without* having to list them in a section labeled "plot seeds." It's a little something that's been bugging me about the rpg game industry in general. Don't tell me, show me. Also, make sure there's some general info on the rest of the Bay Area. Marin, Oakland and Berkeley in particular, but you should also mention every other Bay Area city and county, and maybe a few more in the general area too. Oh don't forget to discus the bay itself too. My 2 nuyen.
  12. Re: West Coast Sourcebook Hmmm, so are you proposing that the *players* write a west coast book?
