  1. Re: Power Question: Purple Man Short lived comic about one Jessica Jones, former super-hero and now a private detective. Pretty good IMO, more of a street-level take on things. The incident with PM is why Jessica quit being a superhero.
  2. Re: CHAR: Martian Manhunter With a quick glance, not to shabby. But why a Mental VPP and a Mental Multipower?
  3. Re: CHAR: Martian Manhunter I tried to write J'onn up, though i didn't use a VPP. I was at over 1100 points when I threw up my hands in frustration and gave up. I just ain't good enough to do it.

The team really can't have both, would either of you like to try out a different idea, or do you feel good with what you're working on? Maybe talk it out, see whats what? Also, both McCoy and lucky are working on characters with mental powers, so I offer you guys the same option if you'ed like. Desides that, it looks like everyone else could fit in together failry well. I know some of you are still working on write-ups, and that fine. I know how long a good 575 point character can take to work through, so I'm gonna give everyone till this weekend to get their character's write-up finished. In the meantime, i'll be making the games spot on heroCentral tonight, and through the week I'll be adding some of the background stuff for the world (what Marvel stuff we're using, what we aren't, etc), the Avenger package, the new Charter, stuff like that. Feel free to comment on any of it, as I'm sure some of you know more about the Marvel U than I do. After all the write-ups are done, I'll go through and select which characters made the cut (so to speak)

  6. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Sounds good to me, that okay with everyone else? Also, yes, a desendant of Kang would work, and No, don't really have anything I don't want players to break.
  7. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Seems most people with a preference like the modern day setting, so it looks like that one.
  8. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Not yet. I'll get it up there tonight or tomorrow.
  9. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Lets say, around 20 DC for the cap, with average being around 12-16 DC. Thats a guidline, not a hard and fast rule.
  10. I've been pondering a bit about how to build this kind of power, and I must admit I'm a bit stumped. For those not in the know, Purple Man is a Marvel character who exudes certain pheromones that make anyone around him do whatever he says. Now, that sounds like an AoE Mind Control, Always On, but not quite. See, the guy has used it one various mentalists (including Jean and Nate Grey IIR) and they where pretty much as vulnerable as anyone else. The only folks who I can recall resisting it are Daredevil and Dr Doom, or folks who are in a sealed environment like Iron Man. So its a Mind Control, Mental Defenses don't seem to affect it at all, though having an extremely high Ego can let you fight it off. The only thing I could think of was maybe a NND Mind Control, but I'm not even sure thats legal. Anyone have any thought?

  12. I'm sure everyones at some point read goofy *** things in comics that just made you roll your eyes and say "oh come on." This post is not about those times. This is about the times when you've read goofy *** things in comics and went, 'okay, I can live go with that." For me, I can think of two off the top of my head. The first is Squirrel Girl. A young woman who has the mutant power to talk to squirrels. Said young lady has also managed to humilate Dr Doom to the point of retreat, and single-handidly beaten folks like Terrax and Thanos. Its never explained how, she just does. Now, as mind-boggling as that is, I can't help but think its neat, and love it every time Doreen shows up. The second is Karate Kid, member of the legion of Superheroes. Especially back in the old days, when his solution for everything... was to use his Super Karate. Superboy was invulnerable to everything, but Val's Super Karate could hurt him. Dalaximites moved faster than light, but Val's Super Karate could intercept and throw them into the next star system. Val's Super Karate could slow his fall by kicking the building he was falling out of. Val's Super Karate could find the weakness in a perfect force field. Val's Super Karate could stop an earthquake machine by kicking the ground, creating seismic waves that cancelled out the earthquake, causing the feedback to blow up the earthquake machine. And through all that crazy stuff, I was sitting there going "yep, Super Karate could do that." So, what crazy stuff to you folks actually like?
  13. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 I just had an idea, and it was to sweet not to share. If someone wants to go with this, I'd be all for it. Luke Cage has a daughter (it could easily be Jessica Jones as the mother). The girl only inherits part of her dads strength and durability, so she's strong and tough, but not majory so. However, the girl gets definitive lessons in the art of self defense from her dads old friend, one Danny Rand. The girl decides to join the Avengers out of respect for her dad, and in honor of him and the training she got from Danny she calls herself Power Fist. Kinda goofy, but the idea of a strong sista with powerful Kung Fu strikes the Foxy Brown fan in me as groovy as hell.
  14. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 575 points. No real skill requirement or AP limits, I'll do those on a case by case basis.
  15. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Just FYI for some folks, its okay if you don't have an idea yet. Like I said, I'm gonna wait till Monday to even start looking at folks ideas in earnest, so you've got a few ideas to come up with something cool.
  16. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3
  17. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 I think we'll go with 575, and everyone will get a 25pt Avenger package that includes the perks of being an Avenger. That sound cool?
  18. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 No one has expressed interest so far. And I never read any of the Manga-verse, but thats not a bad idea. Maybe make her Tony's daughter, or even god-daughter.
  19. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Sure.
  20. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Cool, interest. Okay, to get the ball rolling if you would, folks who expressed interest, if you could provide me with a few things. -Which setting would you prefer, current Marvel U + 40-60 years or a current day setting with the Avengers adventures primarily happening in the 70-80's? -prefered starting level? I think somewhere between 500-600 is a good spot, what are you're feelings. So far, all the ideas sound doable. Atlantean, InHuman, its all good as long as you can tie yourself to an Avenger in some way. Wanna be Magni, I can go with that. I'll leave it open all weekend so people can think on what character they'ed like to play, then come Monday I'll start going through all the specific ideas.
  21. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3
  22. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Enough to keep things going. I'm not one for hard and fast rules, but at least 5 times a week, preferably once a day (which I don't think is all that much myself). Of course, that can vary. During a combat, of course the faster the better. If we're out of combat and just rp'ing, then things can be more casual.
