  1. Re: Unusual recurring themes

..If going home meant I didn't get paid I'd be home in an instant curled up in bed.

Sorry SS, didn't mean to confuse (or anyone else for that matter).

    Too late!

Add me to the confused list. You are not going home because if you did you'd get paid?

  2. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign

Filthy must spread rep around before giving it to keyes_bill! Man, what a slick move that was, getting him to launch all the missiles so they could be stopped. Whew, hopefully it was blissfully tense with the questions of whether they would be able to stop them or not.

  3. Re: Person of Steel, Significant Other of Tissue paper

No' date=' I'm talking Marvel Universe where characters who clearly are identical twins are [i']always[/i] (nearly) of opposing gender.

    Jean-Paul and Marie Beauvier

    Fenris

    Charles Xavier and Cassandra Nova

    etc

I know it don't happen in real life but I was talking about Marvel!!!

Yeah, those a fraternal twins, not identical. In order to be an 'identical twin' ya kinda haff ta be you know... identical.

  4. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.

I really enjoy the coloring on Vortex. The fingers on the gloves just add that simplistic flair that will separate that character from the rest of the speedsters out there. Great interpretation, no matter what the commissioner had in mind!

  5. Re: Person of Steel, Significant Other of Tissue paper

If the Kryptonite Hershy squirts don't shatter plumbing and create sonic booms, Supes is good to go.

I dion't recall Clark Kent ever accidentally shattering urinals, and that particular function isn't all that controllable once it starts.

In one of the superman movies he sneezed at a bowling alley and caused the boys ball to shatter the pins. I know its not comics but there is that...

Edit: And doesn't supe's invulnerability preclude him from diseases/sickness?

  6. Re: The Team

Not meaning to derail this thread, but I have a small answer for Scifi_Toughguy, who said:

Your distain for the "supers" who were nothing more than bow uers is exactly WHY many people enjoy them. On the same line with batman, greenarrow and hawkeye are nothing more than highly skilled people. They werent BORN with special abilities and they didnt have to FIND a special suit or something....They use skill, training, ingenuity, and the belief that they too can make a difference....

So, thats my .2cents, but Im partial to them as well....Hope that answers some questions....

I like the bat. I just think bow and arrow themed guys are weenies. Hawkeye is like captain america with a bow instead of a shield. Maybe its just hard to make the bow iconic while the bat symbol and the shield are. Perhaps if they could do a B&A guy with a cool costume I could buy into it but green arrow and Hawkeye have pretty lame costumes as far as my tastes are concerned.

  7. Re: The Sanguine News!

That is truly inspiring. Devinitely worthy of envy. My questin to you is this: Do you do up the whole newspaper? If not, how many pages do you write? Where do you get those pictures from?

  8. Re: Campaign Creation

    Great thread.

I wanted to mainly respond to those who are worried about flying too much by the seat of their pants. Its not always a bad thing. Sometimes thats just your style. I find very often that I delay games and get all worried about them because its not exactly what I'm looking for. Realize that most sessions are going to be a hook, then the players reactions and a lot of ad-libbing.

I'm not saying this because I think no one here knows this, just that they might be so focussed on "I need to stop ad-libbing so much" that they try to railroad the players or forget that ad-libing is one of the best skills a GM can have.

  9. Re: Fighting Game Hero

I'm probably the only guy out there that liked Dhalsim, huh? I mean, come on... how can you lose when the other guy can't even get across the screen to hit you?

I've been using the SF characters (don't really know SNK) as heroes and villains in my campaigns since forever; stick with what you know, right? Never actually considered a straight out Fighting Characters campaign... that actually sounds pretty cool.

You could hit Dhalsim's extremeties and his air hang time was a bit much. His 'fireball' throwing speed was slower than most so you could just wear him down with a constant barage of them. The classic 'fireball trap' worked well on him.

The beauty of the street fighter series of fighting games was in its addition of a ranged attack. You didn't have to get in dhalsim's face to do damage to him. ;)

  10. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign

I'd love to get into a good super's game. The game that I'm currently involved with is on and off. We don't meet at regular intervels and it is really hard to "keep the feeling" when is bounces like this.

I even looked at Mutants and Masterminds trying to find a gaming group. I have a 19 m/o son that hampers my ability to go out on a regular basis. I have a lot of things going on and it all adds up to having limited time to do anything. SO... I live vicariously through the posts on this board. Keep up the great work.

I so understand. The only difference is that my wife will game with me. Its the rest of the 'group' that are flakesters. Imma rep Bill just for having this thread.

  11. Re: Recharging Power Armor

I think that the player in question is confusing the batteries in his armor ( represented by END or an END reserve) with how much usage you can get out of something before it needs re-loaded (charges). With charges, think ammo.

  12. Re: If You Draw It...They Will Come

I don't like the long fingernails as claws idea. Give him bony protrusions from points of contact ala Doomsday (a concept I really like seeing and think is under used). If you are going to go with my suggestion of bony protrusions put them on the head like you had suggested but oh look, now they're real, not ink!

  13. Re: New Champs Campaign. Advise/Suggestions appreciated

    1) Gene/DNA splicing. Whether it be from aliens or animals, you can make it work.

    2) Raiding enemy camps, shocktroops.

    3) The conspiracy theorists would go absolutely nuts. We're talking a rebirth of the industry.

    4) Kill or sequester all those involved with the project from the cleaning lady on up. Keep the characters constantly on some mission. If they never have sit down and rest time, they'll never be able to put their super human minds to the task.

    5) d'oh!

    6) Remember the lycene(sp?) contingency from Jurassic park? If the government created them, it surely has the means to take them apart. I follow the by-line that the government doesn't unveil something(usually a weapon system) until it already has something more powerful in the wings to compensate for it. Perhaps there was one superhero before this group but the government got it and covered it up ala Area 51 theories. Think of it like this: What if the US government had found the Kryptonian baby and not the Kent family? They keep 'it' under wraps and used its DNA to form the current team of supers. Oh man this question has to be the single best out of the ones you asked. So many routes to go!
