Re: The cranky thread This is pretty much what happened to me except that I was awake for the whole thing. Let me fill you in on what you missed: seeing the oral surgeon with a hammer, a chisel, and an honest-to-God pair of pliers; said surgeon with one hand on my forehead and one foot on the chair (literally), straining to pull; and a lot of loud and really graphic noises. Oh, and the blood. So much blood! And then about halfway through tooth #3, the novocaine started to wear off.

Re: The cranky thread I only had the novocaine when mine came out. I strongly recommend the knockout option. Even if they've invented longer-lasting novocaine since then. I also recommend getting them all pulled at once. I really wouldn't want to have to go back.

Re: Game of Thrones He's been working on a lot of other stuff too. I can't remember the details but it's any or all of putting out a book of short stories, editing a short story anthology, cowriting another book with someone else, and working on another Wild Cards novel. Having read books 1-4 it's becoming increasingly apparent that he's got way too much going on in the series. I think he's reached a point where he can't just sit down and write without doing a lot of research into what he's already written and hinted at, to keep things consistent yet moving in the direction he wants them to go. There's an army of fans out there analyzing literally every phrase he writes, and he dare not make any mistakes in continuity or they'll come after him with pitches and torchforks.

Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Hey, the runs were a lot nicer than the vomiting that preceded them. It's amazing how parenthood lowers your personal bar for "nice" and "happy". Yesterday I was barfed on twice; today, zero! Maybe if I'm really lucky, I'll be able to go home and sit in the bathroom and be alone for like five whole minutes!

Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread My kid had the runs, which is neither nice nor happy, but it does mean I got to spend half a sick day at home, so I managed to get some stuff done like fertilize the weeds and move the file cabinet into the den closet where it belongs. So instead of being waaaaay behind on house work, I'm only waaaay behind.
