  2. Re: The cranky thread Dear Mr. Cell Phone Salesman: You know, I really don't expect much from someone in your position. Surely, if you had any real intelligence or skills, you wouldn't be stuck working in a mall kiosk selling cell phones. And I understand that the cell phone business isn't anywhere near as uncomplicated as it ought to be. But when you can't understand one of your own receipts, and you don't even know what phones you have in stock in your teeny little 'shop', I can't help but think that you might, just a little bit, suck.
  3. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER It depends what kind of grader he is. If he's the kind that just puts a cryptic mark somewhere in the vicinity of the wrong answer, he won't need that many. If, like I used to before I stopped caring, he actually takes the time to write helpful comments so the dimwits have a last chance to learn something, then there is not enough red ink in all the world. Except maybe in Washington, D.C.
  4. Re: Musings on Random Musings Yeah, well, let's just say that Mellon couldn't even handle changing my wife's name after we got married. It took them over a year to get it straightened out; at one point she had three accounts under various correct, incorrect, and misspelled names. I was literally starting to research lawsuit options. So I'm not real optimistic that they're going to be able to get me the info--especially since their records on her account only go back to the date they finally straightened out the name change.
  5. Re: Musings on Random Musings Mellon, which I guess now is bank of new York of something. The stock was bought under my wife's employee stock option plan, so it's almost understandable. Almost.
  6. Re: A Thread for Random Musings "We can provide you with any information regarding the sale of your shares, but not for the cost basis of your shares. It's up to you to convince the IRS not to tax 100% of those proceeds as capital gains. Have a nice day."
  7. Re: The cranky thread Three moves? Wow! I barely survived the one.
  8. Re: The cranky thread Yeah. Since then I bought a car, had a kid, sold the apartment, and bought a house. Kid's 2.5 years old. Letting the days go by. Water flowing underground. Same as it ever was.
  9. Re: The cranky thread Having to hang around the house while it's being worked on is just about equivalent to house arrest. I went through that with the apartment bathroom renovation three years ago. There's nothing relaxing about having filthy workers tromping in and out of your home making lots of noise and borrowing your tools because they don't seem to have any of their own.
  10. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread You know your kid's reached a milestone when, any time it gets quiet in church, he asks in his clear, penetrating toddler voice, "Is it done yet?"
  11. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Fixed that for you.
  12. Re: A Thread for Random Musings here's your introduction to destruction and the hate sustaining me are we safer or in danger? drowning in atrocities? riot gear, the slaves are here piling corpses high its the rich man's war but its the poor that fight
  13. Re: Fantasy Hero Modules Easier to believe than if it were owned by Hasbro.
  14. Re: Musings on Random Musings Pears. And cantaloupe. In fact, if you cut your cantaloupe into perfect cubes, in looks kind of like the replicated food from the original Star Trek series.
  15. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I knew you were royalty.
  16. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Hey look, I haven't caught Headbanger's ball for a couple of years! And yet the bands are all the same. Otep, Meshuggah, Max Cavalera... I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.
  17. Re: A Thread for Random Musings It's really hard to tell these spaghetti westerns apart.
  18. Re: A Thread for Random Musings this is just sick and wrong if it really works.
  19. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Huh. I knew oranges were always male or herm, but I didn't know about tortie sexuality. Who said you can't learn anything from playing RPGs?
  20. Re: The cranky thread The Tamiflu works great, but I'm the only one who was in a position to get it--it's still working its way through the rest of the family. I'm just hoping it doesn't get to my wife.
  21. Re: Musings on Random Musings Just like any other rash or boil.
  22. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER It was either this or "I is the Kwisatz Haderach!"
  23. Re: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks Hero Didn't the hardcopy version originally cost $4?
  24. Re: What gives the "rightful" king the right? That only works up to a point. When a king was too young it always brought up lineage and regency issues that more often than not resulted in chaos.
