  1. Re: Complicate the Person Above

All military units march to a cadence "Left-right, left-right" what not many people know is that before Death Tribble revolutionised it back in the mid 1700's it used to be "bunny hop-sidestep-swing, bunny hop-sidestep-swing", which of course explains why battles and thus while wars took so long to finish.

  2. Re: More space news!

"When talking about a rendezvous in space, Chinese people will immediately think of the story of the cowherd and the weaver girl,"

Really? I must say that, when the first Russian and American capsules docked back in the 70's, no such folk tales came to my mind... or any media observers as I recall. If true, it does point out yet another difference in world outlook via folk history.

While sitting on the banks of the Caspian sea I have several satelite news channels to view, and I don't recall seeing anything about this, or China's space program progress on any of the big news channels - CNN, BBC etc. I wonder why? Was it only worth 15 seconds of air time, are we just so jaded or is China a country that's only to be viewed in a bad light?

  3. Re: Weird ship names requested.

I've named ships after bumper stickers I've seen such as USMS I Honk for Jesus

Or word plays like USMS Stopn'shop and its auxiliary tenders the Stoppushin', Stopbitin', Stopscratchin', and the Stopkickin'. or the SS If'nyakanriddis and its sister ship SS Yamuchtaoclos.

I'd also recommend the English translations of the Asterix books for other great wordplay. Like the two roman guards in England; "Sender Victorius" and his mate "Appian Glorius"... Brilliant humour in translation.
