  1. Re: The Greatest Marvel Comics Martial Artist

I always liked Batroc, he's got some real class. Like when he teamed up with Cap to take down Mr Hyde. He may be a crook but he's not a horrible person.

I also liked how he was upset and sympathetic to Cap when that horrible "supersoldier serum goes bad" storyline came up and wanted to make peace with Cap before Cap kicked the star-spangled bucket.

  2. Re: Micro Heroes

I like your avatar and wish it was bigger.

I am getting RED "X"'s for you Pics though.

    QM

Click on them anyway, it'll pop up in a new page as the actual pic. Must be some problem with the thumbnails.

  3. Re: The Most Annoying Thing in the World

Especially if your browser commits suicide. Which is what mine did when it was asked to play the clip.

Unwatching the clip would be the ideal solution, but no such luck. And just think, if the cellphone had never been invented, neiother world the Crazy Frog.

Huh. Well, such is the power of "The Most Annoying Thing In The World!"

  4. Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did

...can't remember the title. But it was an indpendant black and white comic drawn by Ron Lim (who did Silver Surfer for Marvel a while back) it had two superhumans' date=' and some aliens and robots. One of the robots, Lancer had a comic collection, the other one was called...Skeech? It had some nice story going but I think it lasted less than 10 issues.[/quote']

Hah! If you count both versions, yeah, it got to 10. You're talking about the Eradicators comic from Silverwolf Publishing. That company later resurfaced as Greater Mercury Publishing.

    Try here.

Y'know, I once wrote up a dozen or so of those characters in HERO. Always wanted to do something with them but never had a decent place for them.

  5. Re: Looking at the Universe Timeline

Cateran and the Emnpyreans have all lived through 'low magic' periods, haven't they? And they'll live into the future/Galactic Champions period as well.

Hmm, I'd been wondering about Cateran. We know she's alive and kicking during the war with Istvatha V'han's forces during the Galactic Champions era. The background mentions her as fighting for Earth alongside Thalya.

Now, Thalya's background mentions her years of 'debility' implying she was seriously downgraded in ability until the mystic floodgate blew open again. When I reread Cateran's entry in CKC, she didn't seem like she was as strong as she is in the current era back during her brigand and bear-wrestling days.

So, how much of a hit do Cateran's stats take, do you think? Seems like a simple matter to assume she has NCM applied during the weaker times and her stats recalculate to show this. Now, that'd still give her 35 Str, 23 Dex, 30 Con, Spd 5 & like 13-14 PD & ED which is respectable but nowhere near her current level. Sound feasible? After all, she was supposed to have broken arms and cracked skulls even then.

  6. Re: So I found this site I haven't seen before...many Champs write-ups!

Well, I looked around the site and after staring at some of the write-ups, I decided all I want from it is art. No way I think Killer Shrike has an 18d EB & 7d+1 HKA. He's a scrub, a mook, a loser. Grasshopper II beat him. You know, the dork who launched himself into earth orbit and killed himself in the GLX-mas special?

Anyway, the scale's all wonky on these guys.

  7. Re: Thoughts on Solara

So, have you considered whether this chain of magical girls has any companion lines?

Is it actually a creation of Amateratsu or were they designed by Earthly or Infernal agents?

Wouldn't it have made just as much sense to have the original channeller have been a priestess or some such? After all, one would think that might be a criterion for recruitment into the priesthood considering spiritual forces implicitly exist.

OTOH, it seems entirely possible that this may have been a form created by some untrained but gifted mystic who created the trappings, powers and equipment believing she was channelling divine will and power.

After all, Japan has many stories of items and weapons filled with dark or light powers simply by virtue of being made at a certain time or in a certain way, such as a swordsmith who accidently creates a blade containing a dark spirit.

Eennh, -shrug- regardless it's your call one way or the other.

  8. Re: New Avengers

    Puck

    The Blob

Actually that's probably Chase Stein & Nico Minoru from Runaways. The girl between Fury & Cage is Stature (Cassie Lang) from Young Avengers.

The other unknown Young Avengers are Kate Bishop, Wiccan & Patriot.

  9. Re: Anyone here find a use for Takofanes yet?

To be honest' date=' if I had it to do over again I would give the "archlich" role in my campaign to Archimago, the villain from the 4E Champs sourcebook [i']Creatures of the Night[/i]. I find him to be a far more interesting character than the version of Takofanes from Conquerors, Killers And Crooks - better rounded, more subtle, and with a more interesting background and history. I would probably just graft most of Tak's character sheet onto Archimago.

Yeah, he was a nasty one. Sucker was one of the few mystics with a 100+ pt VPP, his being 101 pts. The staff alone was a wonderful plot device. Frankly, he's even nastier now with access to Megascale and Multiple Power Attacks.

  10. Re: Was watching Superman TAS and wondered about Mxyzptlk

See, I might keep the little bastard around, but only if I wanted to slowly erode the Superman mythos by revealing that Mxyz is all in Clarks head :P

'Course, I probably shouldn't even say such things in jest, least somone over at DC think it's a brilliant idea...

I belive they used that in an issue of Legends of the Dark Knight to explain Bat-Mite.

  11. Re: Anyone here find a use for Takofanes yet?

I don't think it makes sense for Tak' to just be 'out there' somewhere on the loose...he's too powerful and unstoppable. He should either be 'rampaging' or supposedly 'foiled' for the time being by being temporarily destroyed, sealed back within his crypt, sent to another dimension, what have you.

I agree. A simple rampage is only gonna net him a bodycount. I'd like to think he'd use that 30 Int & freakishly high mystic skill list to plan some vast ritual his occasional appearances tie into, preferably arranged so the PCs are in some way integral to it. just 'cause he's got that sledgehammer of a VPP doesn't mean he can't gently tap things into place via followers and locations.

  12. I keep coming back to this guy. What can I do with him that would be a cool story? what's he want, really? Sure, it says he wants to rule the world and drag humanity wailing and screaming into the darkness of his debased soul. Yeah, he's got the trump card as far as the Crowns of Krim go. Sure, he's spilling over with necromantic mojo but has anyone got a plan for him aside from killing anyone what gets in the the way of him killing anyone, while he conquers the planet and vaporizes the competition?

C'mon, he's been outa the crypt since '87 and in print since '02. Anyone got any horror stories starring our favorite lich?

I do have a scheme in mind, but I want to hear what anyone else might have done.

  13. Re: Anyone else...

You guys are all wrong. Obviously, this is but the latest in a series of cleverly disguised messages by VIPER allowing them to communicate secretly while simultaneously weakening the structure of American society. You know, like how they're behind all these TV show-movie adaptations. Those are used to make people believe Jessica Simpson & Johnny Knoxville are real people and not androids.

    VIPER is sneaky that way.

  14. Re: All-New Iron Age Zoo Crew?

Are you sure that's Swamp Thing and not Mudd? I seem to recall their meeting a swamp monster by that name anyway; Fastback rescued Farah Foxette from it (and got dropped like a hot rock. Women!).

Nope, that's Swamp Thing. Mudd was a muck-encrusted mockery of an anthropomorphic alligator. Alfred E. Newgator, IIRC.
