  1. What is the modifier against a character facing away from his attacker? If an attacker is attempting a disarm against an offhand weapon and the defender does not have offhand defense, is there a penalty to his OCV to defend against the attempt to disarm? Is there a penalty to switch a melee weapon from off hand to primary hand? Like a -1 OCV in that round, or is it just a half phase action with no consequence. I cannot find this one in the rules, but I THOUGHT I remembered from an old edition that if you half moved and attacked you got a -1 OCV for that round. Or is that just me totally misremembering.
  2. If you're going to play on a dark version of Santa, he should be able to cast ribbons as Entangles that tie the PC's up in large bright red bows. Very difficult to break out of, but can easily be pulled like a bow string and unravel by another PC (to make it a team effort to free the hero). Elves maybe could have transform attacks that turn OAF into toy versions that only do maybe 2-3 D6 and shoot foam darts or bubbles. Dark Santa should also be able to lay down ice patches that will impede movement of be like entangles, but do not affect him or his minions. Sonic "Ho HO HO!" blast that does NND sonic damage? Thrown glass christmas decorations that shatter and do small RKA damage? He should take slightly more damage from fire attacks. Which reminds me - evil snow men with cold snowball attacks!
  3. I did pull up Google Earth and check it against at least one major boulevard and they matched name and direction. I intend to do more comparisons, just to get a better handle on things. cptpatriot - I hear what you're saying, but also, it sounds like the city was nearly completely obliterated and huge numbers killed. I'm moving forward with the thought that there prorbably weren't enough survivors to negatively impact the rebuild, BUT that those who survived did their best to re-settle in familiar areas, causing most of the neighborhoods to be repopulated similarly to the way they were before the city was destroyed. I'm also making the assumptions that the pristine city of the future has now begun to fall on slightly harder times and that the super clean techno city has already begun to age, that standard city corruption has snuck in under the radar, and that some of the more ambitious technologies, like self-driving microchipped cars are no longer being supported. It doesn't do any good to have Millennium City be a perfect town. But I'm starting to make some progress.
  4. I'm running a pbem for a friend, and I want to really drill into Millennium City. I have the source book and the map, but what I'm really wondering if anyone knows is this: How much does the map layout differ from Detroit? i'd really love to be able to lift street names and maybe some city details based off google earth to get some realistic street level details. Stuff that if the player got curious and decided to go looking they would find that, 'Holy Smokes, there is a hospital there' But I'm wondering if I'm better off using the RPG book map and embellishing and staying more vague, or if I should just use Google Earth? What would really be fun is if someone with skills made a Millennium City overlay that could be put on top of Detroit with all the Champions based POI. I think that might be a bit beyond my skillset though.
  5. Thank you! I just bought the Villainy Amok characterpack, and a few other character packs. i have many many books on my shelf of Champions and had not gone through VA in so long I had not realized. I now have many many new NPC's at my fingertips including normals and supers. Thank you very much!
  6. WOOT! Thanks! Just bought it and downloaded it. Thank you very much!!!
  7. I'm looking for police, office workers, non-superpowered NPC's, street thugs, bank robbers, etc. It would be fantastic if they were in Hero Designer files. I noticed the downloads section here has lots of conversions, updates and reimaginings of heroes from other sources, but what I really need is a diverse collection of low to no powered folks. If there is a product either here or on like RPG now if anyone knows of something, I'd appreciate a push in that direction. Thanks!
  8. Gadget Pool VPP. I was using Hero Designer and came across this. So the VPP is 60 points, + 30 points control cost. But I couldn't add gadgets with 60 active points (came back and said it was because the control cost was too low). So, I experimented and made it 60 points active, 60 points control, and was able to add the gadgets I wanted with some of them as high as 60 active points. Am I getting this all totally wrong? Also, with a Gadget VPP is the idea that the character could carry in Real cost points, the Active + the Control in gadgets? Meaning, if I had the original 60 point VPP with 30 point Control, could the character carry 60 points worth of gadgets? Or 90 points of gadgets? In the example of what I tried to do (60 active, 60 control) could that character carry 120 points of gadgets at a time? And is it a correct assumption that the character could potentially have undreds of points of gadgets in his 'arsenal' but only be able to carry a limited point cost's worth of gadgets at any given time? Just wondering if I'm zeroing in on the right ideas, or if I am waaaaaayyyyy out past left field in the parking lot across the street.
  9. Ok, I'm working with a player on a new character. We're using Hero Builder 2. It looks like it allows the possibility of buying Armor with the disadvantage of 'always on' which would reduce a +20PD +20ED Armor purchase from 60 to 40 points. The character definition is that the char is an extraterrestrial and this is just a natural state of the character's skin/phsycial composition. But this 'disadvantage' of being always on doesn't ring quite right to me. I guess I'm not seeing a down side to being that tough all the time. There's no endurance cost, no focus, so how do you handle justifying the discount with this disadvantage? Is there an in game way to make this disadvantage come in to play? How would you handle an armor purchase of this size? Would you consider lumping things like armor and big flight, etc. under an 'E.T' elemental control to keep costs reasonable?
  10. Re: CU - Wold Newton Just wondering if Indiana Jones would make it in there, or could he possibly really be a Hinkley? I'm not up on all the history of all the characters. There was some major magic involved in the movies between the Arc, and the Shankara stones, Grail, etc.
  11. Re: Now Taking Preorders For the Champions 25th-Anniversary Special Edition! I'm feeling a little dim. I don't know where to find out just what this book will have in it. Where could I find that information??
  12. Re: WWYCD: More Than Meets The Eye... Start with the Universal Greeting!!!!! "Bah weep gra-nah weep ninni bong" http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/The_Transformers:_The_Movie
  13. Re: one year to change the world Yes. One of the top 10 worst movies of all time. Up there with like Best of the Best 2, Leonard Part 6 and Star Trek 5.
  14. Re: one year to change the world Easy! I'd march into the UN and give them a good talking to. Then I'd take all the nuclear weapons in the world, put them in a big net and fly up and fling the net at the sun. Ultimately, I'd have to fight a clone of myself with fruity blonde hair, on the moon, but I'd defeat him by cutting off his access to the very sunlight which gave him his power.
  15. To what degree to you infuse your storlines with legal issues/jargon/procedures? If you have characters with police authority of some sort, do they arrest villains? Read Miranda rights? What about warrants? If the heroes follow leads and end up outside a warehouse where they believe the bad guys are manufacturing the next super-drug, on what grounds can they enter? Do they just go blasting in? If they do get warrants, how do you handle that? Do you ever tell the players later that Foxbat was released on a legal technicality because they didn't have a warrant? What about your gadgeteer with all the recording devices that likes hacking cell phones and placing wire taps? Do you ever have characters sued by villains? Innocent bystanders? The city for property damage?
  16. Re: PRIMUS or UNTIL Thanks for the handful of quick responses. I did minorly introduce Primus but had not done much with them. I was a Champions GM from first ed. but gave away all my books in the early 90's. So, I've been restocking from the ground up (I do still have my 1st, 2nd and 3rd ed rules books though for fun). Anyway, I just bought the PRIMUS book and will print it out at work after everyone leaves (heh, color laser). And I will give it a look over. Our campaign has been dormant as I've been living in another city for the last 6 months, and I currently only have 2 players, but I am moving back to my original city in PA and intend to start running things again as of this weekend. I expect you guys will start seeing more of me on this board as well.
  17. Which group do you use primarly in your campaign? Do you use both? How do you use them? Do any of your PC's affiliate themselves with either or both groups? I am trying to figure out which one I am more inclined to be introducing to my players, and am a little stuck. I don't have either book, but I am tempted to get the PDF PRIMUS book as I could have it in hand today. Still, I was wondering what others use.
  18. Re: U.N.T.I.L. Logo Here are some more.
  19. Re: U.N.T.I.L. Logo That looks like a simple enough logo, a combo of the UN logo with the UNTIL lettering on it. If no one supplies you with one until tonight, I'll dummy one up when I get home. I'm sure I can find one and put it together. I used to work at a sign shop and I like doing that kind of thing so it shouldn't take me long to cobble something together.

    New Clix

Re: New Clix Yeah, I buy my clix exclusively for Champions use. Some I leave as is, some I mod a little. If you buy them off ebay by the case (say, a case of DC) you can get enough extras of similar types to use as agent henchmen or villain henchmen, etc. Plus, cops, thugs, etc. I love my clix. Really solved my problem of the weak selection of hero minis out there otherwise. My next step is that I'm going to re-do my vinyl hex map so it is big enough for clix bases. Slightly larger hexagons as I prefer the hex map to the square grid they put out with the box clix sets.
  21. Re: Name That Band Hero! This is my first post, but I thought I'd chime in as this is a pretty cool thread. Weathercock - British man with weather/wind powers Slipstream- Speedster Cross Eyed Mary- Eldritch spell casting witch hag Moth- Flight brick who always attacks person with fire powers Aqualung- Water blaster Edit: Ok, I'm lame, missed the previous Jethro Tull post.
