Hmm, my group down in the Bay Area had way leftwing liberals to very conservative political views. We didn't have much of a problem. Of course, we also played characters that didn't nessasarily follow the same political views as our own beliefs either, so maybe that helped.

Don't think I have any really stupid concepts in my game currently. I think the one that was brought up as a crime of mine was the Towel Master with his Terry Cloth agents.
They all had Find Weakness and AP attacks... Nothing worse for a hero than being taken out by agents weilding wet towels.

I've never had a big problem with it. I've been in games where I played a speed 12 with other players at 5-10.
I also played a speed 4 with other players at up to speed 15. Though the GM made myself and the other speed 4 buy up to 5 after we went and got pizza between our phases on 9 and 12.

We just ignored END for years, but the game is so much better with it. I'm not sure when they made the change to 1 END/10 active points, but it's the best HERO system change ever.
They changed it for 4th edition. Since almost all characters had 1/2 end cost, they figured that it would be better that way.
Of course back then you bought zero end by buying 1/2 end, 1/4 end, 1/8 end etc...
9 end -> 4 end -> 2 end -> 1 end -> 0 end.
Though I kind of liked it in some ways...

Re: Question about Champions' DNPCs
Originally posted by WhitefuryI realize I could just use the standard 'normal' template for most of them, use a 'cat' template for Sunshine, and a Reporter template for Julie; but was intrested to see if anyone has written up their own versions?
Well, I did do a pict for Sunshine.

Way back when (Champs II) I had someone want to put a vehicle in a gadget pool. (Back when gadget pools were real points and not active...) woo!

Actually, in 1st and 2nd edition, Crusader, Starburst, and Ogre were used in a really handy walk-through for character creation (something sadly missing from FREd, but I don't have 5th Champions--maybe it's there?), and they had all of their stats.
The Combat sample is also in 4th (page 210 in the BBB) though it uses 3rd edition rules. (I think they fixed it for the soft covers...)
5th edition doesn't have a full example, but they do have bits. Starburst is used as an example for a few of them.

Mwahahahahahaha.
Yea, I bought the "Ultimate Adventurer's Guide" just because the original book was so bad. I'm still tempted to do a Synnibarr Hero at some point, but I might be brought up on war crimes....

Come on, that Raven guy jumped off diving boards to make sure it was a good system.
Did you know there's a second book? MWA HA HA HA!

Hmm, I see nobody has mentioned Enemies III. That was the first Hero book that made me think "Why did I spend money on this?"

Here's a quick pict of Witchcraft's familiar, Sunshine.

I'll go with the Supreme one on this one. Though, I couldn't make out the detail of the A that you had as the emblem. Any chance of just seeing the emblem?
I like the look.

I agree. Vastly differeing power levels between characters rarely works out. It's like playing D&D or Palladium with one or two 1st or 2nd levels characters in a group full of 6-8 level characters (or vice versa). About the only thing the weaker characters can do is role-play, and occasionally use a spiffy skill or two that only they have. They simply won't be much of any use in combat.
Now, if you are running a game that's light on combat and heavy on role-play....this all wouldn't make much difference.
It really depends on the game style. I run and played in games where the point totals varied by plus or minus 600 points. Though to run a game like that where there are several power levels, it helps to have multiple characters.
In one game, we had three different characters. During the roleplaying we would figure out which character went where and sometimes we would have one low powered character along with everyone elses high powered character.
IMO, it captured the feel of the JSA, Avengers, and Legion comics.

For the campaign I'm running, I'm not sure how to put the vibe of the team.
Now for Wilson's game: The vibe is paranioa. Distrust of the goverment and be scared of what some of your teammates are up to in their spare time.

Old! Yeah right. You're a young punk.
Well, at least you've got the most popular birthday which also seems to belong to the oldest members.

On some of the GURPS supers, Michael Surbrook also has some conversion. (At least I'm pretty sure.)

I once wrote up a god character for a game.
He was an obscure god from a pantheon that lost a war with another pantheon ages ago and he was in hiding for many, many years.
He finally came out of hiding when all these supers were around figuring he could blend in.
As a gag, I kept having him change his orgin, but using classic bits.
"I was found an alien spaceship and the dying pilot gave me this ring"
"I was bit by a radioactive beetle"
etc...
He also had a minor transform that was always on, area effect that would get people to "worship" him. (A god aura as it was). It worked fine on normals, but naturally my teammates were always annoyed that even though he wasn't the team leader, everyone treated him like he was...
