Re: Champions LARP
Originally posted by shafti76HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHA. Please no one ever do this. God I hope no one ever does this. I am pretty sure its one of the signs of the end of the world.
Having seen a gamer in spandex, I whole heartily agree with you. My experience was showing up at a con game and being greeted by the GM in spandex. ugh.

I always think of the Mice Chorus from Babe when I see a reference to Blue Moon. And now I have an image of a crossover. ack.

At the GameStorm Hero System fan get-together, I heard Steve say something about there being an "official Champions comic book" that Nighthawk wanted no part of. Since the team needed a martial artist, the writers came up with this Australian fellow who is well loved, though much derided for his hackneyed origin, stupid costume, and tendency to get beat the crap out of about every other issue.
That's the explanation out of MC as well.

24 OCV base

7 CSL = 31 (if all applied to the OCV)

2 OCV with Sacrifice Throw
is his best shot.
Also, I realize now, we always just assume the DEX/3 plus 11 in our OCV. So I always figure my base is 24 rather than 13+11. Hope that clears it up.
Or have I really screwed something up?!?
The +11 is not part of the OCV it's part of the die roll calculation. Doesn't look like it's hurting anything, just confusing other people on this board

Mmmmm, explosion...
I wouldn't make it a killing attack. The old Champions had most vehicles exploding at 15d6.
And looking it up in 5e shows 15d6 as well. They also list the gas tank at 12 litres. (A liter is a little bigger than a quart.)
Though I would just make the explosion large enough to accomplish what you want it to do. That's how they base it in the movies I'd wager.

Never been in a group that has had that problem. I've often dropped into that leader role, but there's always been at least one other person who'd be capable, willing, etc... I think everyone in my pre-portland days was a team lead at least once.
Current group has a very good "in character" acting ability and my feeling is most of the people could do a team leader role. Though I don't think I've played any tactical board game with them to gauge their personal tactics skill.
I'm only really playing one active campaign and running another. As a player, my character is the "morale" leader, but as actual team leader, I don't think we have one. In some ways, I would say Sihn, Laughton, and Palmer all have various leadership roles. I wouldn't trust any of them to be sole leader, but as a trio we seem to do OK.
In the game I run, it's another non-leader ship role. I think Miq's character is being the most like the leader when he's there.
"Leader? We don't have a leader, we each take turns...", you get the idea
p.s. Blue, I like your current sig.

Hmm, I have a highly trained cat with ninja karate skills as the current avatar. She does have seven toes on each front paw, so distinctive looks is in order as well.

This is a good reason to implement the house rule that all characters declare actions on their phase in reverse initiative order, ie lowest to highest DEX. Once declared, they can't change, and the higher DEX guys have the advantage of making their decisions based on their opponent's tactical decisions. No more incompetent normals half-moving out of the way of the speedster's haymaker....
Not a bad solution.
I'd forgotten about the no abort if you've used up your full phase in a segment. Is that new to 5th, (he says being lazy about looking it up )
We experimented in an FH game where you could abort even after making an attack. We found it cut into people delaying and was not unbalancing.

We had Tuffonium which was for a standard wall, 20 def, 20 body hardened.
For really tough items in there was also Krell Metal which was 60 def, probably double hardened. Krell was IIRC was actually from "Forbidden Planet", a great 50's SCI-FI film.
I haven't introduced either into my current campaign, but there are some hi tech carbon fiber materials that haven't been named yet. I'll probably be borrowing some from this thread.

Ack. So I did a quick search, wound up reading a different thread on the ballots. Someone posted a picture of "Doom of Odin" by Avalanche Press. Oh my. so I checked out the Avalanche Press website. They seem to be going for a certain demographic. I'm pretty certain that the Aztec wore different outfits.

Re: Unfortuantely...
Originally posted by Delthrien... this is all academic. PETA would almost certainly become involved at some point. Those involved in an empirical study of the chucking capability of a woodchuck would almost certainly find both themselves and the cords of wood drenched in buckets of the blood of senselessly exploited woodchucks...
it depends really on how you treat your woodchucks.
-
Are you giving them appropriate rest breaks?
Feeding them?
Making sure they have good resting enviroment? Perhaps a hot tub & a massuese?
Since a Woodchuck's purpose is to chuck wood, they shouldn't complain...
Could you buy Autofire on a Woodchuck?

Hey, check out the street names on the city map. There's some cool street names.I particulary like the road that the college is on, Barnes Blvd.
I wonder where Barnes came from? The main developer of Heromaker was Steve Barnes.

I've never seen an entire table do the silent routine, but that might not be a bad idea for some Con games. I always seem to lose my voice near the end of the Con.
I once played a character, (supers) names "The Mime". Big VPP, but I had to act out the powers.
In another game, my character was on a solo quest and ran into a language problem. The GM and I did a lot of pantomime to get our various points across.
For Silent Hero, I would have various music sources since you need that organ or piano player to convey mood.
For the placards, I think small whiteboards would be good.

You might want to check into the WWII stuff from GURPS.
I've run scenarios based on the Film "Where Eagles Dare" in several different types of games. (WWII supers, WWII normals, Danger International, and Paranoia)

Originally posted by Mutant for Hire I'd use 558x as the base character point 'pool' for the superhero population of the city, and then I'd divide it by the hard cap of supers per capita period to give the mean point base for characters in the city. I'm not sure what power curve scale I'd draw around it.
That reminds me of the Sam Bell Protector's. He used the premise that there were a set number of points per world, so on a pararell Earth where there were only 12 supers...
Somehow we sort of held our own and managed to get a seat on the council of worlds. Though we shared it with one of the villian teams that we'd had fights with over the years.

I'd be most scared of the Arkham team.

Ah yes, the Turtle armor. I might incorporate them into my game, but mostly off screen.
The Vegas ideas are great. The mentalist portion isn't applicable as much, but I think most of it's very useful.

Sounds like it'd make a good name just using english. If it's 30s based, you'd just use the english name anyway. I had no luck on the finding the translation, but did find this:
